The HP Movie Store (powered by Roxio Now) HP Pavilion N5341 Charger , features a large library of movies available for rent or purchase. Movie rentals start at $3 while purchases cost $10, and you can read movie synopses and credits as well as view trailers before buying. Roxio users can also watch their personal videos in the movie store upon logging in.Additional software includes HP Download Store, HP Pavilion N5350 Charger , Microsoft Office Starter, Rhapsody, and Windows Live. The dv6t comes with one year of limited hardware support and 30 days of free limited software support. See how HP fared on the LAPTOP Tech Support Showdown and our Best & Worst Brands roundup. Consumers looking for a stylish and affordable multimedia laptop with strong performance, HP Pavilion N5390 Charger , convenient fingerprint security, and impressive sound should snatch up the $769 HP Pavilion dv6t. The second-generation Intel Core i5-2410M CPU provides more than enough power to stream HD movies while uploading images or editing video, while the inclusion of switchable graphics gives the dv6t enough oomph for playing the latest games. HP Pavilion N5400 Charger , For $30 more, the Dell XPS 15 offers better sound and Nvidia GeForce GT525M graphics. However, we give the edge to the Pavilion dv6t because of its sleeker design. It's a great all-around entertainment notebook at a price that's right. If there's any company that gets that business notebooks should look as good as they perform, it's HP. HP Pavilion N5444 Charger

Just look at the ProBook 4530s, HP Pavilion XH455 Charger , which sports a brushed-aluminum design that's clean and cool but also tougher than your typical consumer laptop. Priced at an affordable $729, this 15-inch machine has plenty of power, too, thanks to a 2.3-GHz Intel Core i5-2410M processor and a fast 500GB 7,200-rpm hard drive. To protect your data, HP Pavilion XH35 Charger , HP includes a fingerprint reader and face-recognition technology. Add in the redesigned QuickWeb for getting online without Windows, and you have one of the most well-rounded business notebooks available.
Equally at home in the conference room, living room, and the coffee shop, the HP ProBook 4530s is the most attractive notebook in its class. HP Pavilion XH335 Charger, Its sturdy lid and interior are crafted from brushed aluminium with metallic gray accents, which HP calls "deeply anodized." The screen is framed by dark-black plastic and swings open (and down) on silver "drop" hinges. A long perforated metal speaker grille runs across the deck above the notebook's black keyboard. The underside of the laptop is made from simple black-hued plastic. Overall it's an elegant look.HP Pavilion XH226 Charger
The ProBook 4530s lacks some of the advanced durability enhancements of its corporate sibling, HP Pavilion N5445 Charger , the HP EliteBook 8460p, such as a rubber ring around the screen and a magnesium base. It does, however, feature a similar spill-resistant keyboard and number pad. With a wide rectangular frame that sits high on rubber nubs, HP Pavilion N5450 Charger , the ProBook 4530s weighs 5.6 pounds and measures 14.8 x 10.1 x 1.1 inches. Slightly heavier than the Toshiba Tecra R850 (5.4 pounds), it isn't easy to carry on long trips, but transporting it from room to room won't prove difficult.
Thanks to its wide-body design, the ProBook 4530s boasts a vast keyboard complete with a number pad on the right side. HP Pavilion N5451 Charger , Its black chiclet-style keys are slightly concave, click softly, offer deep travel, and provide comfortable feedback. The arrow keys right next to the number pad often caused us to press "0" instead of the right arrow button, though.HP Pavilion N5452 Charger
The large, 3.6 x 2.1-inch touchpad on the ProBook 4530s provides a nice balance of friction and glide. HP Pavilion N5490 Charger , Made by Synaptics, the pad is correctly placed below the G and H keys and supports multitouch gestures such as three-finger swiping, pinch-to-zoom, and object rotation, all of which worked well. That said, two-finger scrolling through documents felt jumpy at times, HP Pavilion N5485 Charger , and you can't adjust this feature's sensitivity. We do like the two discrete left and right mouse buttons, which clicked with authority without feeling stiff.
The HP ProBook 4530s' LED-backlit 15.6-inch screen (1366 x 768 pixels) is rated at 200 nits and sports a matte treatment, so you don't have to worry about reflections. HP Pavilion N5482 Charger , As with other laptops such as the Toshiba Tecra R850, moving off angle horizontally degrades picture quality (of both brightness and color fidelity). We would have liked to see more contrast and deeper blacks. For example, space scenes in the classic 2001: A Space Odyssey were not as dark as they should be.HP Pavilion N5481 Charger
The ProBook 4530's speakers above the keyboard belt out a sizable amount of sound, HP 580029-001 , enough to easily fill a mid-size room. Audio is also improved by SRS Labs Premium Sound processing, with preset equalizer settings for movies and music. Even so, bass was lacking from booming tracks such as "Kids" by Sleigh Bells. However, "Keep Tryin'" from J-Pop star Utada Hikaru sounded well balanced.
The HP ProBook 4530s comes with four USB ports, HP HSTNN-Q44C ,two each on the left and right sides. One of the USB ports on the left is a high-speed USB 3.0 connection. Also on the left side are Ethernet, HDMI, VGA, power, a smart card adapter, and a Kensington lock slot. HP VP502AA , On the front sits a 6-in-1 memory card reader plus headphone and microphone jacks. Lastly, on the right is a DVD SuperMulti Drive.Video callers will appreciate the HD webcam on the ProBook 4530s, which is capable of 720p video. Though it's not Skype HD-certified--video maxed out at 640 x 480--callers said we looked sharp on their end. We also recorded 720p video using the ArcSoft Webcam Companion software, and it looked crisp and smooth during playback.HP 436426-311

Under stress, the ProBook 4530s kept its cool. HP 538692-541 ,After playing a Hulu video for 15 minutes, we recorded temperatures of 91 degrees at the touchpad, 86 degrees at the keyboard center, and 82 degrees underneath the laptop. These readings never reached what we consider too hot to handle (95 degrees) and were below the typical mainstream notebook's temperatures.
HP 538692-351 ,Outfitted with a 2.3-GHz Intel Core i5-2410M processor and 4GB of RAM, the HP ProBook 4530s offers solid performance. Its PCMark Vantage score of 6,220 is almost 800 points above the mainstream category average. However, the similarly configured Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E420s (2.3-GHz Intel Core i5-2410M, 4GB of RAM) squeezed past the ProBook 4530s, HP NBP6B17B1 ,notching 6,290.Equipped with a large 500GB hard drive spinning at a quick 7,200 rpm, the ProBook 4530s managed to fire up Windows 7 Professional in 58 seconds, 8 seconds faster than the average 15-inch notebook. Duplicating a 5GB of folder of mixed multimedia files took 3 minutes and 2 seconds, translating to a high data rate of 38 MBps, well above the category average of 26.3 Mbps.HP HSTNN-XB4X
The ProBook 4530s converted a 114MB MP4 file into AVI in a swift 48 seconds using Oxelon Media Encoder. HP HSTNN-XB45 ,It usually takes similar notebooks 1 minute and 12 seconds. The Toshiba Tecra R850 proved faster, accomplishing the task in 41 seconds, while the ThinkPad Edge E420s lagged behind all three (55 seconds).
HP 436426-351 ,The integrated Intel HD 3000 graphics chip inside the HP ProBook 4530s turned in a 3DMark06 score of 3,633. That showing is about 300 points below average for this class of machine (which includes many laptops with discrete graphics), but it's nearly even with the Edge E420s (3,627), which has the same GPU. Using more robust AMD Radeon HD 6450M graphics, HP 436426-711 ,the Tecra R850 scored approximately 1,000 points higher than the 4530s.While playing World of Warcraft, the ProBook 4530s squeezed out 28 frames per second at native resolution and effects set to Good. That's decent for a laptop with integrated graphics and in line with the ThinkPad Edge E420s (30 fps).HP 436426-751

The HP PowerBook 4530s' six-cell battery lasted 4 hours and 53 minutes on the LAPTOP Battery Test (web surfing via Wi-Fi). HP HSTNN-XB43 , While that's a half hour longer than what we see from mainstream machines, the Tecra R850 (6:34) and the ThinkPad Edge E420s (6:41) both lasted much longer. To be fair, the latter notebook is a 14-inch system. HP HSTNN-W26C , An extended nine-cell battery for the 4530s costs $59.Using an Atheros AR9285 Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n radio, the PowerBook 4530s turned in good wireless performance. It offered 36 Mbps at 15 feet away from our test router and 21.5 Mbps at 50 feet, nearly identical to the mainstream laptop averages (36.2 Mbps/21.7 Mbps). HP HSTNN-OB45 ,The 4530s also comes with Bluetooth 3.0, which allows pairing with hands-free Bluetooth headsets and speakers.
One of the big draws of the HP ProBook 4530s is its robust security features. The laptop comes with HP Protect Tools, one of our favorite security suites. Within are wizards to quickly setup windows passwords and protect and manage passwords for web services. HP HSTNN-CB45 , You also get a choice of authentication methods, including face recognition, fingerprint ID, and smart card adapter. After we set it up, we were easily able to log into this laptop through a swipe of our finger or just with our face.HP AH547AA
Other welcome security tools include Drive Encryption, HP 454668-001 ,which makes data unreadable if the ProBook 4530s is lost or stolen. If you are worried about loss or theft, you can also activate Computrace, which can remotely delete your data and track your system down. The Premium package that includes these features costs $42.89 per year. Lastly, it's possible to enable a BIOS-level password for added security.
HP 443156-001 ,Our $729 HP ProBook 4530s is one step below the top-of-the-line configuration and is equipped with a 2.3-GHz Intel Core i5-2410M CPU, 4GB of RAM, and a 500GB 7,200-rpm hard drive. The lowest-priced $579 ProBook 4530s runs a slower 2.1-GHz Intel Core i3-2310M CPU, 4GB RAM, and has a smaller 320GB 7,200-rpm hard drive. HP 436426-752 ,The most expensive $949 ProBook 4530s adds AMD Radeon HD 6490M discrete graphics with 1GB of dedicated video memory.Consumers can also create a custom configuration of the 4530s, though it's much more expensive than choosing a pre-configured model.HP Pavilion N5454 Charger
As with other HP laptops, HP Pavilion N5475 Charger ,the ProBook 4530s comes loaded with a sizable software bundle. Standouts include the ArcSoft Total Media Suite, which lets users create, copy, and watch all types of digital video and audio files and burn them to DVD or CD. The 4530s also includes the Webcam Companion app for taking pictures and shooting 720p video using the HD webcam. HP Pavilion N5474 Charger , HP Power Assistant helps the laptop regulate its power consumption and also report usage back to IT managers. If trouble arises, a comprehensive HP Support Assistant will scan the notebook and provide a diagnosis or help contact an HP support rep. HP Pavilion N5472 Charger,To better withstand bumps and drops, the HP 3D DriveGuard tool can park the hard drive or optical drive when sudden motion is detected. The HP QuickWeb 3.0 feature launches the 4530s into a simple yet very functional interface for getting online without Windows. Activated by hitting a dedicated key above the number pad, it provides at-a-glance info such as weather, time, stocks, news headlines and a calculator. It's a handy tool for travelers who need to get in the loop fast.HP Pavilion N5470 Charger |

The laptop may have Nvidia's Optimus technology, which switches display duties to the asus u31sd-rx001 Charger processor's integrated graphics when you're not playing games, but the laptop still scored poorly in our light-use test. Three and a half hours away from the mains essentially limits the VX7 to home use only, especially as the power brick weighs a kilogram – your bag will weigh almost 5kg with the laptop asus u31sd-rx034v Charger and its charger inside. In everyday use, we soon noticed a few problems with build quality – the keyboard tray flexed dramatically under minimal pressure, the touchpad buttons would catch on their plastic surround unless we pressed them dead centre, and the carbon fibre-effect panels are made of cheap-feeling painted plastic. The power and display hotkeys also behaved oddly, asus u31sd-rx036v Charger , sometimes triggering each other’s settings when pressed. It’s a shame these problems are so glaring, as the VX7 was actually great to use – the backlit keyboard uses full-size keys that have a pleasing springy action, and there’s room for a separate numeric keypad, asus u31sd-rx037v Charger which should make data entry a little easier. The touchpad buttons felt firm and were responsive as long as we pressed them in the right place. The touchpad is a good size, letting us navigate the desktop easily even at the laptop’s very high native resolution.asus u31sd-rx072r Charger
We were surprised that asus u41sv-wx036v Charger has managed to squeeze a 1,920x1,080 display panel into a 15in laptop – this makes watching Blu-ray movies in full 1080p a possibility, although you’ll have to sit directly in front of the laptop to get the best view; viewing angles are fairly average and moving to the sides creates a lot of colour distortion. asus u41sv-wx036 Charger , There’s a bare minimum of screen tilt and the glossy finish means direct light sources are reflected from the screen. Colours were also slightly muted. The VX7 feels larger than the average 15in laptop because the stylised exhaust vents that jut out from its rear create a huge chassis. There’s at least room around the sides for a Blu-ray optical drive, multi-format card reader, three USB ports and a single USB3 port, as well as asus u41sv-wx031v Charger , VGA and HDMI video outputs, plus two 3.5mm audio jacks for connecting a microphone and headphones. At a massive £1,839, the VX7 needed to be outstanding in every way. Unfortunately, some build quality problems and its below-average battery life mean it's not worth the premium. If you're looking for a gaming laptop, the Dell Alienware M14x is better value. Rather than follow the bog-standard template for tablet hardware, asus u41sv Charger has made a clear effort to distinguish its products with different designs. First up was the rather good Asus Eee pad Transformer, which had an optional clip-on keyboard to turn the tablet into an Android-powered netbook.asus u41jf-wx149v Charger
Now, with its Eee Pad Slider, asus u31sd-rx101v Charger has gone one step further, integrating a keyboard underneath the screen's sliding mechanism that gives the product its name. Pull the edge of the display up and it moves on hinges until it stands at around a 45-degree angle. There's no further adjustment available, but we found the screen angle about right for using the tablet and keyboard comfortably on our lap or a desk.asus u31sd-rx159d Charger , The Chiclet-style keyboard isn't full size, but the keys are all a decent size. Typing, for the most part, is pretty comfortable, too. We found that the keys had a light action, although the feedback's not particularly good, making it fairly easy to make typos until you get used to it. One thing that's harder to get over is the lip that sits in front of the spacebar. asus u41jc Charger , This is particularly annoying when the tablet's sat on your lap, as we found that we hit the lip more than we hit the spacebar. Still, once we'd gotten used to the keyboard layout we found that we could type faster on the Slider than using an onscreen keyboard, although slower than when we used the Transformer's keyboard.asus u41jf Charger

We're pleased to say that the bugs we noticed with the Transformer, asus u41jf-wx125 Charger , where we couldn't type into a Google Doc have gone, and the keyboard now seems to work with everything. One of the main reasons to have a keyboard is for work. As with the Eee Pad Transformer, Asus provides Polaris Office for free, which lets you edit and create Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint compatible Files. asus u41jf-wx089 Charger , It can even integrate with Google Docs, pulling in files from the free cloud service. It's a bit annoying to use, as it doesn't support the standard Android copy-and-paste, and you can't use shift-cursor to select text. Instead, you have to double-tap the screen to put the software into edit mode, and use the copy, cut or paste commands from the drop-down menu. FUJITSU FPCBP207AP , That said, having an office suite as standard is still handy. You don't have to work off the Slider's internal memory (16GB or 32GB models are available), as there's a USB port that you can use to attach mass-storage devices, browsing their files using the built-in file browser. It makes it easier to grab a file from your computer and keep working on it on the move. In addition, there's a Micro SDHC card slot. FUJITSU FPCBP208 , Fold the screen flat and the Slider turns back into a regular Android tablet. Due to the keyboard, it's a bit thicker than we're used to at 17mm. At 906g, it's also a touch heavier than a normal Android tablet, but it's around 400g lighter than the Eee Pad Transformer with the keyboard dock attached, making it the better choice to lug around all day.FUJITSU FPCBP208AP
Fujitsu might be better known for its business laptops, FUJITSU SIEMENS S26391-F421-L200 , but the company also makes models that focus on multimedia. The NH751 is the latest addition; the 17.3in giant may not be ideal for taking on the move, but the internal Blu-ray writer and Full HD screen make it ideal as a desk-bound machine. The plain looks and unassuming black lid belie the multimedia powerhouse underneath. FUJITSU SIEMENS S26391-F421-L300 , However, open it up and the two large speaker grilles above the keyboard tell a different story. There are a further three speakers hidden on the underside of the laptop, including one to handle bass, but it str***led to produce decent power, even at full volume. Overall sound quality was reasonable, but still no match for a set of speakers or headphones.More impressive than the underwhelming audio was the Full HD screen. FUJITSU SIEMENS S26391-F6120-L470 , The small text was initially difficult to read, so we increased the default Windows font size to compensate. Viewing angles weren’t great, with a noticeable lack of contrast unless we sat face-on to the screen, but colours looked natural and brightness was high. You can also connect an external display using the VGA and HDMI outputs.FUJITSU SIEMENS SMP-EFS-SS-22E-06
The NH751 is no slouch when it comes to 2D performance.Fujitsu-siemens S26391-F405-L810 , Its second generation Intel Core i7-2630QM processor, which can use Turbo Boost to increase its four cores from 2GHz to 2.9GHz, and 4GB of RAM, completed our multimedia benchmarks with an overall score of 73. This places it among the fastest laptops we’ve reviewed, so it will easily cope with any application. Fujitsu S26391-F518-L200 , A 750GB hard disk should also be large enough for a sizeable multimedia collection.Even though the dedicated Nvidia GeForce GT 525M graphics card is more than capable of playing HD video, it isn’t as well suited to playing games. In our Dirt 3 test it managed a smooth 36.3fps, but once we raised the resolution to 1,920x1,080 it couldn’t deliver a playable minimum frame rate without sacrificing quality levels.Considering the powerful components inside it, a Fujitsu FPCBP251 battery life of just over three hours in our light-use test is unsurprising, even with Nvidia’s Optimus technology disabling the graphics card to reduce power consumption. This result, when combined with its weight, means we wouldn’t expect many people to be taking the NH751 on the move; at 3.6kg, it’s definitely a heavyweight.Fujitsu FPCBP233AP
In terms of storage, the Blu-ray drive is a highlight.Fujitsu CP335311-01 , It’s capable of writing Blu-ray discs as well as reading them, so you can back up huge amounts of data and burn HD home movies. A multi-format memory card reader, ExpressCard/54 slot, a shared eSATA/USB port and three extra USB ports are also welcome inclusions, but it's a shame none of them support USB3.We had no trouble typing on the full-size keyboard, Fujitsu FPCBP175 , despite the keys being very closely grouped together. We rarely made errors thanks to the reasonable amount of tactile feedback, although the entire tray flexes significantly under pressure. The small touchpad felt cramped compared to the huge screen, but was still responsive. Fujitsu FPCBP198 , Oddly, multi-touch gestures were disabled by default, but once we’d turned them on they were mostly accurate. We did find ourselves tapping the touchpad for mouse clicks more often than usual, because the physical buttons felt spongy and not particularly satisfying to use.Fujitsu FPCBP234

The NH751 is one of the few laptops we're happy calling a 'desktop replacement', Fujitsu FPCBP233 , as it has many of the features we would expect to see in a desktop PC, excepting USB3. If you can live with a Blu-ray player rather than a writer, a 1,600x900 screen and a slower processor, the excellent HP dv7-6051ea (which has USB3 support and better battery life) would be a good alternative. Fujitsu FPCBP176AP , However, if you'll use the extra power, resolution and ability to write to Blu-ray discs, the NH751 is worth the extra £200.Fujitsu's Lifebook P701 is an ultra-portable designed for business use, and comes with features for corporations, including a TPM module for secure encryption, and a SmartCard reader and fingerprint reader for secure login. Fujitsu FPCBP176 , However, some of the other business-oriented features also offer benefits to the average user, such as the ExpressCard slot, the non-reflective 12.1in screen and the copy of Windows 7 Professional. The latter gives you more features than Home Premium, with support for older Windows XP applications and Remote Desktop,Fujitsu CP335319-01 , amongst other things. The ExpressCard slot, which supports the smaller 34mm cards, lets you add peripherals such as TV tuners or extra ports. The screen is intended for office environments, where bright strip-lighting will create annoying reflections on glossy screens.Fujitsu FPCBP234AP
As other UItraBooks have yet to go on sale in the UK, the asus p41sv Charger currently has only one real competitor – the MacBook Air itself. However, the UX31 has a better specification, with its faster processor and higher resolution screen, and is more keenly priced, too. Its RRP is £100 cheaper than the equivalent 13in MacBook Air, and at retail you should save even more. It lacks a backlit keyboard, but otherwise matches the Air in terms of styling, asus p41sv-wx032x Charger life and portability. The Air has the Thunderbolt I/O port plus the option of a larger 256GB SSD - although for an eye-watering extra £250 - neither of which is likely to tempt most buyers.Because it’s the first UltraBook we’ve reviewed, it’s impossible to say whether the asus u31j Charger will be bested by a competitor over the next few months. However, based on what we’ve seen, it’s going to be incredibly difficult to beat – the fantastic design, sturdy build quality and excellent performance make the UX31 an incredibly desirable machine. If you've been waiting for a Windows MacBook Air equivalent, then that wait is over.Asus has created some fairly unique Lamborghini-branded products, most notably the VX6 netbook asus u31jc Charger , but the monstrous VX7 might actually deserve its supercar badge – the 15in laptop is a top-end multimedia and gaming powerhouse, with the price and bonkers styling to match.asus u31jg-xa1 Charger

Underneath the head-turning chassis there are equally impressive components providing heaps of performance, both on the asus u41sv-wx056v Charger and in games. The Intel Core i7-2630QM processor might only run at 2GHz, but Turbo Boost can push it up to 2.9GHz for a welcome performance increase in lightly-threaded applications. It managed an overall score of 75, helped by a rapid 71 in the single-threaded image editing test. asus u41sv-wx051v Charger Two massive 750GB hard disks provide more than enough space for a huge multimedia collection, which you’ll be able to back up to Blu-ray using the BD-writer optical drive.Graphics performance comes courtesy of Nvidia’s GeForce GTX 460M, which might not be cutting edge any more, asus u41sv-wx050d Charger , but is definitely still capable of playing most games – in Dirt 3 it managed a smooth 39.3fps at our default settings of 1,280x720 pixels, High detail and 4x anti-aliasing. It even achieved a superb 38fps at the VX7’s native 1,920x1,080 resolution once we disabled anti-aliasing.asus u41sv-wx049d Charger |

This is slightly above average for a laptop in this price range, Acer Aspire 7551ZG Battery , so you should have no trouble running everyday applications. It should also be powerful enough for more intensive tasks thanks to the ample amount of system memory. You should be able to do so away from the mains too; the 5750 lasted almost six hours in our light-use battery test, which is longer than some Core i3 laptops we’ve seen. Acer Aspire 7552G Battery , Performance was reasonable, particularly for an ultra-portable. Acer has opted for an Intel Core i3-2310m processor and 3GB RAM; while hardly a powerhouse, the processor still runs at 2.1GHz and should have more than enough power for most desktop applications. Acer Aspire 7552G-5107 Battery , It coped well with our multimedia benchmarks, achieving a good overall score of 42. Although this won’t challenge a desktop PC, it’s still a respectable amount of power to find in a low-price laptop. Performance didn’t come at the expense of battery life either, as the 4830T managed an impressive 10h 45m away from the mains in our light-use test, which is one of the best results we've seen. Acer Aspire 7552G-5488 Battery , Graphics performance is left to Intel’s integrated chip rather than a dedicated card, so games unsurprisingly weren’t the 4830T’s strong point. It could only manage a lowly 15.4fps in our Dirt 3 benchmark, so only older titles will be playable. Even so, it still handles high-definition video; we could play 720p clips on the laptop, or 1080p files on an external display using the HDMI port.Acer Aspire 7552G-6061 Battery

The TimelineX weighs much more than we expected given the compact chassis, Acer Aspire 7741G-434G50Mn Battery , but at 2.2kg you should still be able to take it on the move without straining your shoulder. If you’re looking for a compact laptop with excellent battery life, but don’t want to pay a huge amount for a premium ultra-portable (or wait for the upcoming crop of Ultrabooks), the Acer Aspire 7741G-374G64Mn Battery is a good choice. It has its shortcomings, but you still get plenty of laptop for less than £500.Acer's new Iconia Tab A100 is the first 7in tablet we've seen that uses the latest version of Android's tablet OS - we were expecting more by now, but there's been some speculation that Google was having trouble getting Android version 3 and above to look right on 7in rather than 10in screens.Acer Aspire 7741G-3647 Battery With Android 3.2 the search giant seems to have fixed these problems, so expect a flurry of other 7in tablets to appear soon. The A100 has the same Nvidia Tegra 2 chipset that powers most 10in tablets, including Acer's own A500, Acer Aspire 7741G-334G50Mn Battery and 16GB storage should provide plenty of room. The tablet itself is compact and light, and weighs just 450g. The screen's 1,024x600 resolution is large in relation to its size, so you get a higher pixel density than on a desktop monitor, leading to sharp images. Graphics are bright and colourful, although the auto-brightness seemed to err too much on the dark side and viewing angles aren't great.Acer Aspire 7741G-333G32Mn Battery
Unlike the more expensive Acer Aspire 7560 Battery we looked at recently, this slightly cheaper model lacks a dedicated graphics card. Instead, Intel’s integrated chip provides enough grunt to render the Windows desktop and play high definition video, but you won’t be able to play modern games with Acer Aspire 7560G Battery . Our Dirt 3 benchmark was simply too demanding, producing a jerky 18.7fps. Turn down the detail settings, however, and older titles should still be playable. For a very reasonable £530, the Aspire 5750 is great value. The Core i5 processor provides plenty of performance, Acer Aspire 7741 Battery , 8GB of RAM is ideal for multitasking and the impressive battery life means you don’t have to be tied to a mains socket. There are very few alternatives at this price that can offer the same combination of power and usability; if your budget won’t stretch to the slightly better equipped Dell Inspiron 15R, this is definitely the best all-round machine out there for the money.Acer Aspire 7741-333G25Mn Battery
Of all the Ultrabooks we've previewed so far, including the Acer Aspire 7741-5137 Battery and the Toshiba Z830 Ultrabook, it was the Acer Aspire 7741-7870 Battery and UX31 models that really wowed us.Weighing an incredibly light 1.3kg and only 17mm thick at its widest point, the Asus ZenBook UX31 is an amazingly compact laptop. A tapered design means the thinnest edge is a miniscule 3mm, which matches the tiny dimensions of the 13in MacBook Air. The brushed aluminium chassis is sleek and refined, but also incredibly strong – the lid refused to buckle under pressure and we couldn’t spot any flex in the keyboard tray.Acer Aspire 7741G Battery , The full-size QWERTY keyboard was excellent to type on, thanks to its isolated keys that were well spaced. Despite having very little travel, each key felt springy and responsive, so we could type at full speed right away. Below it, Acer Aspire 7741G-333G25Bn Battery has managed to squeeze in a large brushed metal touchpad - both the pad and its buttons are machined from a single piece of aluminium, but it has none of the problems of other all-in-one touchpads we’ve seen as pressing the buttons doesn't jog the mouse cursor. With minimal friction and responsive buttons, we could easily navigate the Windows desktop without any trouble.Asus U41JF-A1 Charger
Unsurprisingly given its slim chassis, Asus U31SD-A1 Charger hasn’t been able to add a dedicated graphics card to the UX31 – instead, it uses the graphics chip integrated into Intel’s processor, which is easily powerful enough to play high definition video. We could watch 720p video on the laptop, or 1080p files on an external display, but it isn’t well suited to modern games. It managed just 14.5fps in Dirt3, Asus A43 Charger means you’ll have to drop the detail settings right down to play new titles, although older games will fare better.Everything we watched on the 13.3in display looked fantastic, thanks to its field-leading 1,600x900 resolution. The Asus ZenBook UX31 is the only UltraBook with this resolution, Asus A43B Charger , giving it a big advantage over the competition - the 13in MacBook Air has a 1,440x900 display. Text looked sharp without appearing too small, images were highly detailed and colours were accurate even at full brightness. Asus A43JA Charger , Contrast was also excellent, letting us pick out details in our darker test files. Viewing angles were about average, and the glossy screen finish makes it difficult to avoid light reflections, though its wide range of movement does help compensate for this.Asus A43BY Charger

We were expecting great sound quality to match the fantastic image, Asus A43JB Charger , as Asus has teamed up with experts Bang and Olufsen for the ZenBook’s speakers, which are embedded in the screen hinge. Although they were no match for a dedicated speaker system, we were very impressed with both volume and frequency range – very high-end notes crackled slightly and bass was minimal, but most tracks sounded clear and warm. Asus A43E Charger Despite the powerful components inside, the UX31 still managed a superb seven hours in our light-use battery test. As long as you stick to light tasks such as web browsing and word processing, you should be able to go most of a working day without having to reach for the charger. Asus A43F Charger , An Instant On feature resumes from sleep mode in less than two seconds, which makes it ideal for stop-start working on the move. Asus claims that the ZenBook will hold its charge for two weeks, which falls short of Apple’s one month claim for the MacBook Air.Asus A43J Charger
The Acer Aspire 7551-3068 Battery feels well made, and although the plastic back case might seem a bit tacky, the edge-to-edge glass on the front is stylish. The ports are kept to the short ends of the tablet, with only a volume rocker and a handy screen orientation lock along the top edge. Actually, the placement Acer Aspire 7551-3416 Battery of the touch-sensitive Home button indicates that the A100 is designed to be used more in portrait mode, and this is confirmed by the two speakers under the Home button.Android 3.2 adds some specific updates for smaller tablets so that the user interface's controls and status bar scale better, Acer Aspire 7551-3634 Battery and Android feels at home on the device. We could do without Acer's Hubs - eReading, Games, Multimedia and Social. These act as folders for other apps, and you can swipe between them, but they're just another layer between you and your Acer Aspire 7551-5358 Battery .There are some useful additions, however: the Aupeo! internet radio, Docs To Go document viewer, Kobo ebook reader and nemoPlayer video player are all useful starter apps for users who aren't familiar with the Android Market, but as they're installed as system apps you can't get rid of them once you find your favourite replacements.Acer Aspire 7551G Battery

Despite its Tegra 2 chipset, the A100 str***led to play 720p YouTube content, Acer Aspire 7741Z-4815 Battery was a surprise. It was snappy enough in everyday use though, and it scored a high 2202 in the SunSpider JavaScript benchmark, so browsing should be smooth. Its convenient size and weight makes the A100 desirable as a portable web browsing platform, and its design, Acer Aspire 7741Z-4643 Battery while not particularly classy, is still smart. We could do without Acer's choice of pre-installed apps and the Hubs, but there's plenty of storage space so they don't eat into it too much. As the first 7in Android 3.2 tablet to market, the A100 has no real competition. It's an impressive tablet with only a couple of niggles, such as the slightly tacky plastic back and odd speaker placement. Acer Aspire 7741Z-4633 Battery , It’s a good value tablet to buy now, but you may want to hold off until the competition release their own 7in tablets.Acer has produced some excellent mid-range laptops recently, and the Aspire 5750 looks to be no exception. On paper, the Core i5 processor, massive 8GB of RAM and spacious 500GB hard disk should be hard to beat for the price, but look past the high base specs and this laptop is a bit more basic.Acer Aspire 7741Z-4592 Battery
The silver metallic-effect chassis has seen a slight revamp over last year’s models, Acer Aspire 7551G-5407 Battery , but still looks fairly generic and the 5750 looks more at home in the office than it does in the home. It isn’t particularly well suited to taking on the move either - at 2.5kg you’ll notice it in your laptop bag. Connectivity is also fairly basic with three USB ports, Acer Aspire 7551G-5821 Battery , a multi-format card reader and a DVD optical drive all that you get, with no USB3 or integrated Bluetooth. However, once we started to use the laptop, our initial concerns over its appearance disappeared. The 15in screen might only have the usual 1,366x768 resolution, but images looked sharp and there was plenty of contrast. Acer Aspire 7551G-6477 Battery , The glossy display causes a fair amount of reflections, but there’s more than enough screen tilt to stop this from becoming a problem. Viewing angles were about average, considering the screen uses a standard TN panel. The speakers placed just above the keyboard might carry a Dolby advanced audio logo, but they weren’t much better than any other laptop. There was still a lack of bass and high-end notes were sharp, although the mid-range was reasonably clear.Acer Aspire 7551Z Battery
We were soon typing at full speed using the Chiclet-style full size keyboard. Acer Aspire 7741Z-4475 Battery , Each key has plenty of room around it and there’s lots of tactile feedback. It's certainly comfortable enough to type long documents on. The smooth touchpad directly below the keyboard felt very responsive and, although we would have preferred two physical buttons over the single rocker bar used here, Acer Aspire 7741Z Battery , it works rather well with only a small dead spot in its centre.Performance was impressive for a mid-range laptop. Intel’s Core i5-2410m processor usually runs at 2.3GHz, but Intel’s Turbo Boost helped push it up to 2.9GHz for our multimedia benchmark, producing an overall score of 54. This is slightly above average for a laptop in this price range, Acer Aspire 7741G-7017 Battery , so you should have no trouble running everyday applications. It should also be powerful enough for more intensive tasks thanks to the ample amount of system memory. You should be able to do so away from the mains too; the 5750 lasted almost six hours in our light-use battery test, which is longer than some Core i3 laptops we’ve seen.Acer Aspire 7741G-464G64Mn Battery |

Sandy Bridge might now be the norm, but that hasn’t stopped Toshiba PA3782U-1BRS installing an original Core i3 processor in the L730. Although it runs at 2.53GHz and was one of the fastest first generation i3 chips, the i3-380M doesn’t support Turbo Boost for increased PA3783U-1BRS performance. In spite of its age, it’s no slouch in everyday tasks such as word processing or web browsing. It did surprisingly well in our updated multimedia benchmarks: an overall score of 44 is almost on par with the entry-level Sandy Bridge Core i3. PA3784U-1BRS Battery life was a dismal three hours in our light-use test, though. It’s a surprise that Toshiba bothered to install the 64-bit version of Windows 7 Home Premium, given the 2GB of RAM. However, it does let you add more RAM in the future without being limited to accessing just 3.2GB as with the 32-bit operating system.Unsurprisingly for a budget laptop PA3785U-1BRS , the Satellite L730 doesn’t have a dedicated graphics card. Instead, it relies on the integrated graphics provided by Intel’s processor – the first generation HD graphics aren’t quite as powerful as their Sandy Bridge successors, but they are still powerful enough to play high definition video. Unfortunately, there's no HDMI output, just VGA. The latest games are out, though, as an unplayable frame rate of 12.3fps in our Dirt 3 test shows.PABAS217

You may not have to, as the integrated speakers are slightly better than what we’re used to hearing from budget laptops PA3634U-1BAS . Developed in collaboration with audio specialists Onkyo, both mid-range and high-end notes were reasonably crisp and there was enough volume that we could listen to YouTube videos clearly from a few feet away. However, for watching films, we’d still recommend connecting a set of dedicated speakers. The 15.6in PABAS216 screen is also suitable for casual video watching, but again isn’t ideal for movies. There was noticeable bleed from the backlight, which made blacks appear slightly grey, although other colours appeared vivid at full brightness. PA3781U-1BRS The 1,366x768 panel is detailed for watching HD video. Viewing angles were unsurprisingly average for a TN panel, but there was at least plenty of screen tilt. Even so, light reflections from the glossy display coating were a problem when working in direct sunlight. We had no trouble playing high definition video on the PA3780U-1BRS , thanks to its integrated Intel graphics chip. This is powerful enough for 1080p, but modern games push it a little too far. In our Dirt 3 test, it could only manage a very jerky 13.7fps, far below what we would deem playable. Even so, older titles and more casual games should still be playable.PABAS230
The graphics chip is just part of Intel’s Core i3 processor, PABAS218 is easily powerful enough for web browsing, word processing and multimedia playback. The i3-2310m used here runs both of its cores at a respectable 2.1GHz, and although it doesn’t support Turbo Boost like the more powerful i5 series, it still coped well in our multimedia benchmarks thanks to 6GB of RAM. An overall score of 44 is very respectable for a Core i3. PABAS219 Battery life was also what we would expect from these components; five hours away from the mains is about average for a modern 15in laptop.Toshiba PABAS220 has managed to squeeze in a full-size keyboard, as well as a separate numerical keypad, into the 15in chassis, but we only found it about average to type on. The flat, glossy keys had plenty of spring and reasonable travel times, but their close proximity to one another made our hands feel slightly cramped at times. The same was true of the touchpad. Although its rectangular shape matches the widescreen display, its small size meant we often ran out of room when navigating the desktop PA3832U-1BRS . The oversized touchpad buttons below it felt fantastic, but we would have preferred smaller buttons and a larger touchpad rather than the other way around.PA3833U-1BRS
There’s little not to like about the PABAS229 : it has plenty of performance for a budget laptop, good battery life and a decent screen; however, we were disappointed with the keyboard and touchpad, which are both important features for any laptop. For a similar amount, you could get the superb PABAS228 , which doesn’t suffer from such issues. If you’re looking for a laptop to replace an ageing desktop computer, but don’t want to spend a significant amount, Toshiba’s C670 could be ideal. It has a huge 17in screen and full size keyboard, but only costs £500.The matt black plastic chassis would look equally at home in the board room as it does in the living room, but the PABAS227 is more than capable of handling your multimedia. Its 17.3in screen is bright and looks surprisingly sharp, thanks to the 1,600x900 resolution, which is a noticeable step above the standard 1,366x768 we’re used to seeing in budget laptops PA3819U-1BRS . It can’t display native 1080p content, but HD video looked crisp and fast motion looked surprisingly smooth. The glossy screen finish did create reflections when sat under our harsh office lighting, but they weren’t as noticeable in a screen this size. There’s more than enough screen tilt to stop this from being a major problem, although viewing angles were only average for a TN panel.PA3818U-1BRS
A set of stereo speakers designed by audio specialists Onyko were fine for watching catch-up TV or YouTube videos, PA3786U-1BRS , but high quality music and films lacked any significant punch due to the lack of a subwoofer. Mid-range notes were clear, but the high-end sounded sharp and there was no audible bass. Even at maximum volume, details were lost when we walked just a few feet away. PA3787U-1BRS , There's a spacious 640GB hard disk that’s ideal for a large multimedia collection. The laptop PA3788U-1BRS can also handle slightly more intensive tasks as well, thanks to an Intel Core i3-2310m processor running at 2.1GHz and 6GB of RAM. This combination helped it achieve a respectable 43 in our multimedia benchmarks, so you should be able to run most applications smoothly. PABAS221 Battery life was about what we would expect for a 17in laptop using these components. A little under five-hours' usage before a recharge is a decent result, but hardly overwhelming.Unsurprisingly for a budget laptop PABAS222 , the C670 doesn’t have a dedicated graphics card. Instead, the processor's integrated chip is used. This is fine for everyday use, and even 1080p video playback on an external display, but it can’t cope with modern games. Our Dirt 3 Benchmark brought the laptop PABAS223 to a crawl, managing just 15.3fps. You’ll need to drop the detail settings to play most games, although older titles may be more forgiving.
In everyday use, we found the C670 easy to use thanks to its spacious full-size keyboard. Although the PA3816U-1BRS keys are all placed very close to one another, the springy keys had plenty of tactile feedback to make us confident our presses were registered by the operating system. There’s also room for a separate numerical keypad, which should speed up data entry. Unfortunately, the very small touchpad is poorly matched to the massive screen,PA3817U-1BRS as it forced us to make several sweeps just to span the desktop. The touchpad buttons below it felt a little stiff, but were also sturdy and responsive.Connectivity was slightly disappointing, given the size of the laptop; there’s plenty of room for extra ports next to the DVD re-writer, but Dell Inspiron 1410 Charger has only included two USB ports and a multi-format card reader on the other side of the chassis. In spite of this, the C670 is still a great value 17in laptop. The screen alone makes this the ideal budget replacement to a bulky desktop PC, and decent performance shows you get plenty for your money. However, the Dell Studio 1436 Charger has a near identical set of components and a much nicer chassis, for around £30 less.

Despite the powerful processor, the Dell Inspiron Mini 12 Charger still managed an astounding eight hours in our light-use battery test. By sticking to less energy-intensive tasks such as web browsing or word processing, you should be able to go most of the working day without having to reach for a Dell Inspiron 910 Charger .In everyday use, we had no trouble typing on the large QWERTY keyboard thanks to its full-size keys and standard layout. There’s no numerical keypad, but we would always prefer not to have one if its inclusion meant shrunken keys. The Chiclet-style design never felt cramped, and each key has plenty of bounce to make typing comfortable and responsive. The large touchpad directly below the keyboard is large enough to navigate the desktop Dell Inspiron Mini 9 Charger in one movement, with minimal friction thanks to its metallic surface. The touchpad buttons are just as tough and create audible clicks when pressed, so you’re always sure when you’ve pressed one.Unlike the more expensive XPS, the Inspiron 14z keeps most of its connectivity at the sides of its chassis rather than hiding them at the back. The three USB ports, of which two support the faster USB3 standard, Dell Inspiron Mini 9n Charger and combination audio jack are hidden beneath plastic flaps, as are the HDMI and mini-DisplayPort video outputs. A multi-format card reader and DVD optical drive are other welcome inclusions. We’re big fans of Dell’s new push towards good looking laptops Dell Vostro A90 Charger – some of their older systems certainly would have seen the benefit of better styling, and it helps the Inspiron 14z stand out from the competition. The model we looked at is the mid-range option, so you can save around £80 by opting for a slightly slower Core i3 processor and only 500GB of storage space. Whichever you choose, this is an excellent choice for a new laptop Dell Vostro A90n Charger
We also tested the DVD playback of the notebook Dell Vostro 1710 Charger . With all communication modules deactivated and the brightness set at highest, the laptop can deliver up to 5 hours and 15 minutes of cinematic pleasure. Finally we measured the battery life under full load. The "Classic Test" in Dell Vostro 1720 Charger Eater allowed us to do this. We set the brightness to maximum and turned on all modules. The energy-saving profile was set to maximum performance. After 1 hour and 20 minutes the laptop turned off with its battery depleted. Overall, we would say that the laptop delivers quite good battery life. Users who need a longer runtime can buy a second battery for 110 Euros and install it in the modular slot. The Dell Vostro 1310 Charger is an improved version of the Lifebook T900. Fujitsu has found the right balance between notebook and tablet PC. The case of the device is very sturdy, and the new hardware of the device can provide high performance. The latest ports, such as USB 3.0, are also available. The laptop Dell Vostro 1320 Charger is stocked up with communication modules ranging from LAN, WLAN, Bluetooth as well as UMTS. A fast 128 GB SSD and 4 GB DDR3 RAM ensure lightning-fast use.

Fujitsu has greatly improved the temperature emissions since their last tablet PC: the Dell Vostro 1510 Charger barely warms up under heavy load. The main attraction is the touchscreen which accepts and translates input precisely and works well with both fingers and the touch pen. The Dell Vostro 1520 Charger life is quite long and users who want more can buy a second battery, which can be easily attached to the laptop. The Lifebook has a few small flaws. Under heavy load, the system can throttle slightly. In addition, the cooler fan is clearly audible under heavy load. Demanding 3D programs, such as games, will not run well on the integrated Intel graphics chip, but then again this laptop Dell Vostro 2510 Charger is not aimed at gamers. Finally, the notebook display can not be locked into position in normal use.The price of this device might dissuade potential buyers from making the purchase. Our test model set us back 2000 Euros - not cheap. However, for such a high price, Dell Studio 1435 Charger does offer great quality and many great features for the professional user. |

The DV7's 1TB hard disk and great screen make it a good multimedia laptop Compaq APBT01A , but the Beats Audio-branded speakers were a disappointment. There was definite distortion at full volume, although at lower levels we could listen to MP3s and streaming internet radio happily. There was even some bass, although you’ll still need to connect a set of Compaq APBT01B dedicated speakers if you want to fill a room with sound. In everyday use, the AMD Llano processor inside the DV7 provides ample performance. The dual core A4-3310MX runs at 2.1GHz, increasing to 2.5GHz in boost mode. Compaq APBT01C It's not a powerful processor though - even paired with 6GB of RAM, it str***led with the intensive tasks of our multimedia benchmarks. An overall score of 24 puts it firmly behind similar laptops equipped with Intel's Core i3 chips. The laptop runs Windows well and is fine Compaq HSTNN-A10C when web browsing and word processing, but more intensive tasks such as video editing will be a str***le.Graphics performance was acceptable for a budget laptop, although we were expecting more from the combined power in Crossfire mode of the processor's integrated Compaq M62044L graphics and the laptop's dedicated AMD graphics chip. It achieved an almost smooth 25.5fps in Dirt3 at 720p, so you’ll have to lose anti-aliasing and sacrifice detail settings on newer games to get a smooth frame rate. The laptop Compaq W62144L disables its dedicated graphics and uses the processor's onboard graphics when 3D gaming power isn’t needed, which helps battery life – the DV7 managed almost six hours in our light-use test, so you'll be able to use it on the move.Compaq hstnn-cb25

We’ve been impressed by many of HP’s laptops HP 582215-241 this year, and the DV7-6101sa is no exception. It’s the first laptop we’ve seen with a low-end AMD Llano processor, and although performance wasn’t mind-blowing, you still get a good balance of desktop HP HSTNN-YB2D and 3D power. If you need desktop performance rather than graphics power, an Intel-powered laptop might be a better choice, but for £540 the DV7-6101sa is still great value.HP’s ProBook range sits between the business-focused EliteBook series and the more consumer oriented Pavilion laptops HP GB06 . The 4530s is a good example: its brushed-metal finish, simple yet sleek design and high performance components won’t look out of place in the boardroom, but the dedicated graphics card, DVD optical drive and spacious 640GB hard disk make it a potential multimedia HP 628419-001 powerhouse too.Powered by an Intel Core i5-2410m running at 2.3GHz and paired with 4GB of RAM, the 4530s is about what we would expect from a mid-range laptop. The processor can use Turbo Boost to speed up to HP 626869-851 2.9GHz when running intensive applications such as our multimedia benchmarks. An overall score of 52 is slightly lower than other Core i5 laptops we’ve seen, but still more than enough for everyday tasks such as web browsing, word processing and image editing.HP WM06
Because it has 1GB of dedicated video memory,Compaq 407672-001 the AMD HD 6390M graphics card is a welcome step up from the processor's integrated chip. Both can handle high definition video, either at 720p on the laptop or 1080p on an external display, but only the AMD chip could manage Compaq 405231-001 games. A stable 26fps in our Dirt 3 test proves most games should be playable at 720p as long as you’re sensible with the detail options. Thankfully, the dedicated graphics don’t impact significantly on battery life and five-and-a-half hours in our light-use test is respectable for a 15in laptop HSTNN-DB36 .We had no trouble using the 4530s in direct sunlight thanks to the matt finish on the 15.6in display. The 1,366x768 resolution is just about large enough for working on two documents side-by-side, but we would have liked to have seen a slightly higher resolution at this price. HSTNN-DB35 Brightness was reasonable, but colours hardly popped off the screen without a glossy finish. There was ample screen tilt, but viewing angles were only average.RB775AA
The downward-firing speakers produced reasonably loud audio of average quality. HP HSTNN-Q85C Although mid-range notes were clear, the high-end was overly tinny and there was no audible bass. Although this is fine for watching streaming internet video, we would still recommend connecting a set of speakers when watching a movie.HP HSTNN-CB1Q Typing on the Chiclet-style keyboard was fantastic, as each key produced a very springy action with plenty of tactile feedback. Even with a separate numerical keypad, there was plenty of space between each key so our fingers never felt cramped. We also appreciated HP HSTNN-CB1P the sizable touchpad, which let our fingers glide across its surface with minimal friction thanks to a smooth finish. The two buttons directly below is are a good size and felt firm, although the surprisingly accurate multi-touch gestures were just as easy to use as the physical buttons.HP FE06 Considering it’s targeted at business users as well as consumers, we were surprised at the basic connectivity on the 4530s. Four USB ports, a multi-format card reader and an ExpressCard/34 slot are hardly comprehensive, although you do still get an internal DVD re-writer and a fingerprint reader for enhanced security.HP FE04

At around £670, it’s difficult to recommend the Probook 4530s HP 595669-721 , as you’re paying extra for a graphics card that's slightly worse than the one found in this Dell Inspiron 15r. The solid construction and superb keyboard aren’t enough to justify the extra costs, when Dell’s laptop HP 595669-741 is much better value overall. If you want a laptop that's comfortable enough to work off on a daily basis, yet light enough to carry around, HP's Pavilion DM4 certainly looks attractive. With a 14in screen and attractive, yet compact, bronze-metallic chassis, the D4 weighs 2kg. HP BQ349AA It might not be as light as an ultra-portable, but comes with other benefits such as an internal optical drive and more powerful internal components. Before you even turn on the DM4, it’s clear that design has played a big part in its creation. Aside from the power button, there are no multimedia keys or LEDs to detract, giving the laptop HP BQ351AA a pleasing minimalist look. The contrasting black keyboard and touchpad complete the look, making this one of the nicer looking laptops we’ve seen recently. This simplification hasn’t had too much of an effect on connectivity, as you still get a DVD re-writer, a combined USB/eSATA port, two further USB ports and a multi-format card reader.HP BQ902AA
We were intrigued by the 305V5A-A04's Samsung P460-44G Battery unique design and were interested to see how AMD's A6 chip would fare, but both are sadly overshadowed by the awful, blotchy screen. The Dell Inspiron 17R has a much better 17in screen and a faster graphics card, making it far better value for money; alternately the Asus K53SC is a better 15in laptop. We've long praised Samsung for its stylish laptop Samsung P460-44P Battery designs, and the RV520 - the 15in cousin of the RV720 - is no exception. It has a smart matt silver case with a pinstripe texture on its two-tone lid and a glossy black keyboard panel. Most of its edges are tapered into smooth curves and, despite its plastic construction, it feels sturdy. Apart from the reduced screen size and resolution, there are very few differences between Samsung P460-AA01 Battery and the Samsung RV720.While none of its parts is particularly exciting, the RV520 is certainly more than the sum of them: the budget Intel Core i3 processor, 4GB of RAM, 500GB hard disk and integrated graphics are what we'd expect at this price. There aren't any new technologies to surprise us here. Even its three USB ports conform to the older USB2 specification.Samsung P460-AA02 Battery
Even so, you're getting the same Samsung R453 Battery processor and hard disk that you'd find on other laptops here, but for about £80 less. However, it's not all smooth sailing. Firstly, its screen has a strong blue cast that dulls flesh tones and makes it more suited to working with Samsung R410 Battery documents than watching movies. It's bright and has decent contrast, although its backlight is a bit uneven, and the glossy finish can reflect overhead lights. Coupled with tight vertical viewing angles, this means that you'll have to adjust the screen's tilt carefully to get the best picture.Samsung R408 Battery Second is the keyboard. Despite the inclusion of a numberpad to the right of the main keyboard, Samsung has left a centimetre on each side; we'd have preferred larger keys instead. They do have a light action, though, and despite a slight wobble they provided adequate feedback. Samsung Q322 Battery The layout is standard too, with the Control key having been placed in the bottom left corner and the Function key modifying the F1-F12 keys to activate shortcuts. The RV520 has a large touchpad, which we found to be responsive and smooth. It supports scrolling areas and multi-touch gestures, and has two separate buttons set close to the edge of the case.Samsung Q320 Battery

Sadly, there's little left to talk about. Samsung P460-Pro P8600 Pompeji Battery There are only three USB2 ports, and the memory card slot only supports SD cards (although these are the most popular kind, admittedly) rather than Sony's Memory Stick or older MMC or xD cards. Battery life, at five hours and 45 minutes, is average for this price,Samsung P461 Battery but you're unlikely to carry the RV520's 2.4kg very far from a power socket anyway. The RV520 is becoming rarer by the day, so if you fancy one then don't delay. It's fantastic value, especially at its current low price, and so wins our Budget Buy award.Samsung’s Samsung P510 Battery latest high-end laptop, the Series 7 Gamer, has been designed with one thing in mind – as its name s***ests, the 17in desktop replacement is aimed at anyone looking for a portable gaming powerhouse. The laptop is powered by a quad-core Intel i7-2670QM processor Samsung Q208 Battery running at 2.2GHz and has 8GB of RAM, so unsurprisingly flew through our multimedia benchmarks with an overall score of 82. The laptop's performance is helped by its 8GB SSD, which is configured as SmartCache to speed up transfers of frequently used files. Samsung Q210 Battery The SmartCache / hard disk combo isn't as quick as having an SSD as your system disk, but anyone with a large game library will probably appreciate the 1.4TB of storage space the laptop's two 750GB hard disks give you.Samsung Q308 Battery |

Clicking the Media icon on the X101 took us to a stripped-down media manager where we could view and play Charger for Asus K50A, our audio tracks, podcasts, video, and radio stations using Banshee Media Player. We used the Amazon MP3 Store to add more tracks and Internet Archive digital library for audiobooks, concerts, and lectures. Laptop Charger for Asus K50AB, To add new radio stations and podcasts, we simply went to each category and clicked on the "Add Station" or "Subscribe to Podcast" option in the top nav bar, added a description and the URL, and hit save.
The People hub is where you can instant message using an all-in-one client that supports Google Talk, Facebook messenger, and AIM . Charger for Asus K50AD, When we received a message and weren't on the People page, a medium-sized conversation bubble with the message flashed in the bottom-right corner, and a small flashing icon would pop up in the lower left-hand corner to indicate we had a new message. We used the Status page to toggle between status updates on all of our Charger for Asus K50AF, social networks
Two speakers, located on the underside on the left and right edges, Charger for Asus G51JX-IX192V Asus G51JX-IX206V, provided adequate sound for their size, but were limited by their size. We could barely fill a cubicle when playing Notorious BIG's "Big Poppa" at full volume, and even then it was overly tinny. We liked that the Dolby Home Theater v4 utility would automatically adjust the audio settings based on what we were listening to--and indeed, Laptop Charger for Asus G51JX-IX172V, added some depth and layering--but ultimately, it made little difference, as anything coming out of the speakers sounded like an AM radio.
Though it's such a thin notebook, the S3 fits two USB 2.0 ports and a full-size HDMI port on the back, as well as an SD card reader on the right side. However, it should be noted that the ASUS UX31 has a USB 3.0 port, Charger for Asus G51JX-IX044Z Asus G51JX-IX052V, as well as mini HDMI and mini VGA ports.
The Devices page on the X101 lets you access USB Charger for Asus G53SW, connected peripherals, as well as files and system settings. It took less than a second for the netbook to recognize our external hard drive and list it under the Other Devices panel. From there we could open, edit, delete, Charger for Asus G53S, or copy files. The file manager was very simple, with rudimentary icons representing our files. With no Microsoft Office installed, we relied on OpenOffice to open our Word and Excel documents. A separate image viewer handles photos.Similar to a traditional OS, Laptop Charger for Asus G53JW, the Your Computer panel allowed us to access the data we stored on the X101's 8GB of storage. The panel was broken out into six folders: Documents, Downloads, Music, Pictures, Videos, and Trash. The Status & Settings panel displayed battery life, Charger for Asus G53J, storage used, volume, and display brightness. Clicking the All Settings button in the panel gave us access to a number of settings including System Info, Wallpaper and Fonts, Email Settings, Printing, Network Proxy, and Keyboard. Powered by a 1.33-GHz Intel Atom N435 CPU with 1GB of RAM, the ASUS X101 battery has a long life just like Charger for Asus K50C, has just enough performance and speed to handle all your social networking, web surfing, and light productivity needs. While we were able to run nine to 10 apps in MeeGo OS, one of which was a Chromium web browser with six open tabs, Charger for Asus K50ID, video took a major hit with jerky playback on YouTube at full screen. 720p video did not run well even as the only tab.Overall, using MeeGo OS is an easy and intuitive experience. The stripped-down presentation made apps and files easily to locate and manage. Our biggest complaint is the time it took to switch between apps (a little clock Charger for Asus K50IJ, appears to let you know when you're going to wait). There were quite a few instances where it took upwards of five seconds to switch between tabs. On a few occasions, the OS froze, forcing us the reboot the netbook.
ASUS claims that in optimal settings, the X101 should offer up to 4 hours battery life. In our tests, which involved continuous Charger for Asus K50IL, web surfing coupled with social networking and streaming music from Slacker Radio, we got 3 hours and 25 minutes of battery life from the netbook. The HP Mini 1103 and the Samsung NC110 easily outlasted the X101, clocking in 8:27 and 7:08, respectively. Charger for Asus G51J,
The $199 ASUS Eee PC Charger for Asus G73JH-X1, comes bundled with a 1.33-GHz Intel Atom N435 CPU with 1GB of RAM, an 8GB SSD, and an Intel GMA 3150 GPU. The X101 has a 1-year global warranty with 24/7 tech support. See ASUS fared in this year's Tech Support Charger for Asus G73JH-RBBX05, Showdown and Best & Worst Brands report.
The ASUS Eee PC X101 is a sleek and ultra-light netbook with an engaging and intuitive interface. We also like how the MeeGo OS puts social networking front and center. However, we were turned off by the cramped keyboard, sl***ish performance, and short battery life. Yes, $199 is cheap, but you can get a better-equipped Charger for Asus G73JH-A2, Windows netbook with much more storage and endurance for just $30 more. The U36SD’s specifications are actually quite generous for a sub-$999 ultra portable. It uses a full voltage Sandy Bridge 2410M processor rather than a lower performing QM-series ULV CPU Charger for Asus G73JH-A1, along with 4GB of single channel DDR3 (another module can be installed for 8GB in dual channel mode). However, the crowning achievement here is the inclusion of a dedicated GT 520M graphics processor which uses NVIDIA’s Optimus switching technology to achieve low power consumption and extended battery life. Charger for Asus G73JH,
While it is considered an entry level graphics processor, the GT 520 Charger for Asus G51JX-3D Asus G51JX-3DE, should allow the U36SD to play most games at low detail settings and allow for accelerated processing via its GPGPU capabilities. The rest of the equipment ASUS has included here is pretty much basic for most notebooks in this category but our unit did come with the optional 8-cell battery and a relatively slow 640GB 5400RPM hard drive. There are quite a few additional options with BlueTooth, faster hard drives and higher end processors Charger for Asus G51JX-A2 Asus G51JX-IX012X, being available on some configurations. Once again, ASUS’ notebook completely out punches the competition in the warranty department. Instead of the industry standard single year (or less!), they provide 2 full years of coverage, one year against battery defects and 30 days of protection against dead pixels. What more could you possibly want? Charger for Asus G51JX-A1,
ASUS starts off things on the right foot by clothing their U36 in a HITACHI VisionBook Plus 4100 Battery , durable matte finish which doesn’t show fingerprints, actually repels dust and is nearly impervious to scratches. Unfortunately, it does tend to pick up quite a few scuffs which can usually be buffed out with a damp cloth. The supple matte finish continues around the keyboard and palm rest but the same can’t be said of the HITACHI VisionBook Plus 4140 Battery , whole interior since the screen is for some reason housed within a highly reflective bezel. The glossy screen on an ultra portable is bad enough but adding mirror-like qualities around it will drive any on the go user to absolute distraction. This is likely done to attract naïve shoppers at big box stores who are looking for something flashy but we think ASUS has missed their intended market by a HITACHI VisionBook Plus 4150 Battery , country mile by eschewing an all-matte design. While its footprint is slightly larger than some other 13.3” notebooks (that’s a 13.3” Vaio Z in the picture above), the U36 is only 2cm thick and weighs in at a mere 1.66kg which makes it highly portable. Trust us; you’ll be as surprised as we were upon seeing how easily it fits within a carrying bag. The "isolated keyboard" (well-separated flat keys) feels HITACHI VisionBook Plus 4300 Battery , good but has a column of extra keys to the right of the large backspace and Enter keys. I still keep hitting them by mistake. Also, at 1.7kg, the UL30A is on the heavy side for a thin PC with no built-in DVD. The big battery makes it heavier than an MSI X Slim X340 (1.33kg) or Acer Timeline 3810 (1.6kg), but you can get models with a 4-cell battery. HITACHI VisionBook Pro 7000 Battery , We continue to be impressed with the depth of HP's ProtectTools software. Using passwords, face recognition, and the fingerprint scanner, we were able to set up varying levels of security for logging into the notebook, as well as for accessing websites, e-mails, and documents. Thanks to the Core i5's QuickSync technology,Dell Vostro 1320 battery best buy, which allows for quick video editing, the 14z transcoded a 5-minute HD video in 25 seconds using Cyberlink Media Espresso. The Gateway ID47H02u, which includes the same 2.3-GHz Core i5 as the 14z, took a similar 26 seconds.
The Inspiron 14z's integrated Intel HD 3000 GPU certainly won't break any graphics performance records, Dell Vostro 1310 battery, but it managed to hold its own in our testing. In the 3DMark06 benchmark, the 14z notched 4,759, which is better than the category average of 4,006, as well as the 4,076 scored by the Gateway ID47H02u. By comparison, the Nvidia GeForce GT 425M-equipped ASUS U41Jf-A1 pulled 5,510, while the the Aspire TimelineX and its AMD Radeon Dell Vostro 1015 battery Replacement, HD 6550M earned 7,844 on the same test. While playing World of Warcraft with the graphics set to autodetect, the 14z managed 45 frames per second. That's better than the 35 fps turned in by the Gateway ID47H02u, but nowhere near category average of 86 fps. The ASUS U41Jf-A1 and the Aspire TimelineX were able to run the game at 89 fps and 106 fps, respectively. Dell Vostro A860 battery , Turning up the graphics resulted in a choppy 20 fps.

With an endurance of 6 hours and 18 minutes on the LAPTOP Battery Test, the Inspiron 14z's Dell Vostro A840 battery best buy , six-cell battery has enough juice to get you through a good part of your day before you have to reach for the charger. The average thin-and-light notebook only lasts about 5 hours and 15 minutes, and the Acer Aspire TimelineX hit a wall at 5 hours and 41 minutes. Dell Inspiron 1501 Battery , The ASUS U41JF-A1, meanwhile, managed to outlast the 14z by more than 20 minutes. The Gateway ID47H02u reigned supreme on this test, lasting a herculean 7 hours and 8 minutes before giving up the ghost.
As is the case with most Dell notebooks, the Inspiron 14z is available in a variety of configurations. Our $829 model, which has a 2.3-GHz Core i5-2410M processor, Dell Inspiron 6400 Battery Replacement , 8GB of RAM, a 750GB hard drive, and a Intel 3000 HD graphics chip, is just shy of being top of the line. The only thing it's missing is a $25 Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Hi Def Audio Software upgrade. For true road warriors, Dell offers a similar system packed with the same Core i5 processor as our unit (although with only 6GB of RAM and a 640GB, 5,400-rpm hard drive) Dell Latitude 100L battery, with the addition of a dual Wi-Fi and WiMAX mobile wireless card for $749.

Images on the MSI X460DX's 14-inch glossy 1366 x 768-pixel display were bright and vivid. Dell Inspiron 1764 Battery Watching the camera pan over Brett Reid's enviable classic car collection in The Green Hornet DVD was awe-inspiring. Brilliant blues, reds, and yellows caught and held our attention, but the deep rich black of the Black Beauty car stole the show. Dell Vostro 3300 Battery Explosions were big and bright, but appeared slightly washed out against the night sky. Wide viewing angles meant that we were able to watch movies with a couple of friends without everyone having to crowd the notebook.Despite the adjustments for dialogue and music via the THX TruStudio Pro Settings software, audio sounded a bit tinny on the RealTek High Definition Audio speakers. Dell Vostro 1220 Battery With the speakers at full volume, we were able to fill up a small room, but sound did get a bit distorted. Jack White's vocals and guitar sounded tinny as we listened to "Seven Nation Army." Nicki Minaj and Rihanna fared slightly better on "Fly," but the bass was weak and Rihanna's vocals sounded a little distorted at maximum volume. Dell Inspiron 1525 battery,
With the 15-inch VAIO S, VGP-BPS13/Q Battery, Sony just opened up a second front in its laptop war against Apple. Just as the 13-inch VAIO S challenged the similarly sized MacBook Pro, this larger mainstream system goes head to head against the 15-inch MacBook Pro. And with a starting price of just $999 ($1,299 as configured), the Sony costs several hundred less than the Mac. But is the VAIO S VGP-BPS13S Battery, the best 15-incher among its Windows-based competition?
Much like the 13-inch VAIO S, the 15-inch version has a simple, understated look. Both the lid and deck are a matte black aluminum that's great at resisting fingerprints. The only bits of flair are the chrome VAIO logo VGP-BPS13 Battery, and hinge. Those looking for a little more bling can opt for a platinum silver finish. It's a marked contrast to a system such as the Dell XPS 15z, whose silver chassis and myriad design elements stand out much more--for better and worse. For a 15-inch laptop, the VAIO S is a remarkably light 4.4 pounds. That's more than a pound lighter than the MacBook Pro VGP-BPS13/B Battery, (5.6 pounds) as well as the Acer Aspire TimelineX 5830T (5.4 pounds) and the Dell Inspiron 15z (5.6 pounds); with its slice battery, the VAIO S increases to 5.8 pounds.VGP-BPS19 Battery,

The VAIO S' lightness is only matched by its thinness. VGP-BPS10 Battery, While it has a wide footprint--15 x 10.1 inches--it's just under 1-inch thick. So while this notebook stretched our messenger bag a bit, we were able to cram it in and carry it home (along with the power brick) with ease.
After we streamed a Hulu video for 15 minutes at full screen, the 15-inch VAIO S' touchpad was a cool 76 degrees Fahrenheit,VGP-BPS9 Battery, and the space between the G and H keys was a similarly comfortable 79 degrees. The middle of the underside got up to 94 degrees, which is just on the edge of what we consider uncomfortable. Unfortunately, when the notebook's fan kicked on, it got quite loud.VGP-BPS9A/B Battery, The wide deck of the 15-inch VAIO S allows it to comfortably fit a full-size keyboard and number pad alongside it. We also like that the keyboard is backlit, a standard feature for this model. However, we wish there were a way to adjust the brightness manually. The island-style keys were plenty large and comfortable to type on, but their travel was a bit shallow, VGP-BPS9/B Battery, so it wasn't as ideal as typing on the MacBook Pro.
On Far Cry 2 with the effects on Very High, the VAIO S VGP-BPS9A/S Battery, averaged 25 fps; this bested the category average of 19 fps and was on a par with the XPS 15z (26 fps) and Acer 5830T (25 fps). We saw a blazing 88 fps on autodetect.Unlike the HP Envy 14, which has AMD's new semi-automatic switchable graphics (users must first tell the system which programs should use the discrete GPU), the 15-inch VAIO S VGP-BPS9/S Battery, uses Sony's Speed/Stamina switch to go between the discrete AMD GPU and the integrated Intel GPU. Upon flicking the switch, the screen goes dark for a few seconds. We prefer Nvidia's Optimus solution, which accomplishes this task seamlessly and automatically.
Click to enlargeThe 15-inch VAIO S' battery lasted 4 hours and 29 minutes on the LAPTOP Battery Test, VGP-BPX19 Battery, which isn't bad for a mainstream system--the average is 4:33. However, the Acer 5830T endured for 5:41, the XPS 15z lasted 6:08, and the MacBook Pro lasted an even longer 8:23. With the slice battery, a $150 option, the VAIO S' endurance increased to 9:06. VGP-BPS19/S Battery, Click to enlargeSony offers two preconfigured models of the 15-inch VAIO S. VGP-BPS19B/B Battery, Our configuration, which costs $1,299, has a Core i5-2430M processor, 6GB of RAM, a 640GB hard drive, a Blu-ray drive, and AMD Radeon HD 6630M graphics with 1GB of video memory. To get the slice battery, which we recommend for travelers,VGP-BPL19A/B Battery, you'll need to spend an extra $150.
The Inspiron's SRS DELL Vostro 3500 Battery Replacement premium Audio HD speakers produced decent sound quality with just enough power to fill a small room. Jay Z's "Run This Town" sounded clear, and while bass hits were a bit on the soft side, they didn't sound dull. Above all, nothing we listened to sounded too harsh or overly tinny. On the right side of the Inspiron 14z you'll find the tray-loading DVD+RW drive, Dell Inspiron 6000 battery, as well as two USB 3.0 ports, a headphone input, and a security lock slot. On the left is a standard USB 2.0 port, as well HDMI and mini-Display Port. The left side is also where you'll find the 14z's 3-in-1 card reader. Around back is the power connector and Ethernet port, which features a port cover.Click to enlargeIn fact, all of the ports are protected by flap covers. Dell Inspiron N5010 Battery Replacement While this helps prevents dust from entering your system, these covers just got in the way and slowed us down.
The Inspiron 14z's 1-megapixel webcam provided fair video quality. We didn't notice any pixelation or artifacts when viewing recorded clips. DELL Inspiron N7010 Battery In low-light situations, images became more pixelated, but the picture was still clear enough to make out the thin white stripes on our blue shirt. Dell's Webcam Central software provides users with a wide array of a effects, including avatars and animated frames.Dell Inspiron 1440 battery,
Powered by a 2.3-GHz Intel Core i5-2410M processor and packing 8GB of RAM, the Inspiron 14z Dell XPS M1210 battery Replacement, has more than enough power for most users. When we ran it through the PCMark Vantage test, a synthetic benchmark that measures a notebook's overall performance, the 14z scored a solid 7,743. That's well above the category Dell Precision M4300 battery best buy, average of 5,596 and higher than the 6,322 scored by the Gateway ID47H02u, as well as the 6,348 posted by the Acer Aspire TimelineX 4820TG-6847, both of which pack the same 2.3-GHz Core i5 as the Dell. The Inspiron does, however, have 4GB more RAM that both the Gateway and Acer. The Inspiron 14z's 750GB, 7,200-rpm hard drive booted Windows 7 Home Premium in 53 seconds. DELL Vostro V13 battery Replacement , That's faster than the thin-and-light category average of 1 minute and 5 seconds, but slower than the 48 seconds it took to boot the Gateway ID47H02u.When it came to the LAPTOP File Transfer Test, which involves copying 4.97GB of mixed-media files,Dell Vostro 1400 battery best buy, the 14z buried the competition, completing the test in 2 minutes and 13 seconds at a rate of 38.3 MBps. That's much faster than the category average of 3 minutes and 23 seconds and well over a minute faster than the nearest competitor, the TimelineX, which completed the test in 3 minutes and 20 seconds.Dell Inspiron 1420 battery, |

But overall, the NV55S05u is well suited for consumers who want an Satellite T115-S1125 battery, entertainment machine with a stylish design at an affordable price. The only markings on the outside of the 14z are a chrome-colored Dell logo situated in the center of the lid and a single Inspiron logo stamped in the bottom left corner. The Fire Red continues onto the deck, where it again contrasts nicely with the 14z's black chiclet style keyboard and bezel.Dell gave the 14z several chrome treatments, Satellite T115-S1100 battery, from the power button and the Dell Logo located on the bottom of the display bezel to a sliver of chrome encircling the keyboard. During our heat test, which involves streaming a full-screen Satellite T115-S1105 battery, Hulu video for 15 minutes, the 14z kept its cool. In the center of the keyboard--between the H and G keys--the 14z only reached 85 degrees Fahrenheit, the same temperature we measured in the center of the system's underside. Satellite U505 battery, The touchpad stayed even cooler than that, reaching just 80 degrees. We consider temperatures below 95 degrees to be comfortable.
As anybody who knows me will tell you, I’m an extreme gamer. Battery for Dell G038N, So needless to say, when I got to test out the Alienware M18X, I was pretty excited. There’s no doubt, this is not a small laptop that can be easily toted around. With a full HD display that measures 18-inches and a chassis that weighs in at 13 pounds, both hands were required to carry this sucker around. The Alienware M18x sports a smooth and luxurious Battery for Dell M457P , red case (my favorite color). The keyboard is eye catching when fully lit with various colors in different areas. Above the keys sit the device/media buttons, which are backlit, just like the two vents in the front, so playing in the dark Battery for Dell J658N, will be no problem. I regularly enjoy great graphics from my Xbox 360 gaming console, but I was extremely impressed with the graphics performance from the M18x. Images were crisp and clear thanks to the dual Nvidia GeForce GPU. You can tell at a glance that this was a machine engineered for the gaming enthusiast.Battery for Dell RM627 , original Battery for Dell Y264R,
Now, while this laptop looks amazing, it also comes with the amazingly high price of $5,552.00 (I know, Battery for Dell J590M, I almost passed out I was so heartbroken when I saw this price). But what do you expect when you get all this and a 4-GHz Intel Core i7, Quad Core Sandy Bridge processor and the 3D-support needed to reign as the king of gaming laptops? Battery for Dell H766N, Alienware has done an amazing job with this rig. I have never seen a gaming laptop pack in quite so many as the M18X does. But, despite my love for the power and beauty shown here, the price is just too much for me. I guess I’m going to have to stick with my Xbox 360 when it comes to gaming.Dell's Inspiron 14z packs serious power into a travel-friendly aluminum package. Battery for Dell F144M, With its Core i5 processor, 8GB of RAM, and a backlit keyboard, the laptop is more than capable of handling your day-to-day computing needs. From there, the images are split between the right and left eyes. To ensure viewers achieve the optimal 3D viewing experience, Toshiba uses face-tracking software from the webcam to react as a viewer changes position. The Qosmio F755 satellite l515-sp4904a battery, can also convert 2D to 3D with a click of the 3D button on the media panel. In addition, the display allows viewers to watch 2D and 3D content simultaneously. It should be noted that once 3D mode is engaged, the display's resolution drops from 1920 x 1080 to 1366 x 768.Watching 3D on the F755 was a straightforward affair. After inserting the 3D Blu-Ray edition of The Green Hornet, satellite c655d-s5064 battery, the SuperD Face Tracking technology scanned our face and kept us in the sweet spot for 3D viewing. We enjoyed being able to watch our film in a minimized window while reading a few articles during the slow parts of the film. However, mousing away from the movie caused the window to switch to a split-screen view to adjust for the change. The F755 eventually corrected itself, but it temporarily spoiled the movie mood.satellite c650d-11k battery,
Watching an explosion in 3D on the F755 satellite c650-15u battery, provided some depth in terms of layers, but the fireball and ensuing shrapnel still felt confined to the screen. Note that there is no way to adjust the depth of the 3D on this laptop. satellite c650-124 battery original, We were also disappointed to learn that the 3D effect doesn't carry over to gaming. While Toshiba is working with Nvidia to release drivers to address this issue over the next few months, for now it's a glaring weakness.
Powered by a 2-GHz Intel Core i7-2630QM processor with 6GB of RAM, the Qosmio F755 blew past the 5,800 mainstream average on PCMark Vantage, scoring 7,288. A 1.8-GHz Intel Core i7-2677M processor, Acer Aspire 8730 Laptop charger, 4GB of RAM, and an ADATA JM616 256GB SSD powered the U300s to some impressive scores. In PCMarkVantage, the Ultrabook notched 10,174; more than double the ultraportable average, and on par with the UX31 (10,233), which has a 1.7-GHz Intel Core i5-2557M processor, 4GB of RAM, and a 128GB SSD. The MacBook Air, which also acer aspire 8920 charger, has a Core i5 processor and a 128GB SSD, topped them both with a score of 11,230.On our OpenOffice test (completing a VLOOKUP operation of 20,000 names), the U300s took 5 minutes and 50 seconds, the exact same time as the UX31 and more than 2 minutes faster than the S3 (8:03) and the category average (8:37).While the SSD in the U300s was fast, Acer NV7920u Laptop charger Original, it fell short of the top Ultrabook performers. The 256GB drive duplicated a 4.97GB folder of multimedia in 61 seconds, a rate of 83.4 MBps. While that's nearly three times as fast as the category average, it falls short of the UX31 (97.9 MBps) and the MacBook Air (127 MBps). The Series 9, which also has an SSD, came in at a much-slower 68.8 MBps.Acer TravelMate 7330 charger Best Buy,
Gaming will never be a strong suit for an integrated Acer NV7906u charger, Intel GMA HD 3000 chip, but we were still disappointed to see the U300s fare slightly worse than competitors with higher-res screens. In 3DMark06, the U300s scored 3,389, which is lower than the UX31 (3,761) and the MacBook Air (4,236), but thankfully higher than the Acer S3 (3,257).In World of Warcraft, the U300s managed 31 frames per Acer NV7901u charger, second with the effects set to Good and the resolution at 1366 x 768. That's 9 fps lower than the UX31 under the same conditions and about half that of the MacBook Air at its native resolution of 1440 x 900.The U300s lasted 6 hours and 52 minutes on the LAPTOP Battery Test (web surfing via Wi-Fi), about 20 minutes longer than the Acer NV7316u charger, category average (6:26) and the MacBook Air, and an hour longer than the UX31 (5:58). It easily surpassed the Samsung Series 9 (5:11) and the Acer S3 (4:23).Acer TravelMate 7730 charger,Lenovo says the battery on the U300s is equipped with RapidCharge technology, meaning it can recharge to 50-percent capacity in 30 minutes. Indeed, we found that the laptop lived up to those claims.Dell Inspiron N5010 Battery ,
Our review unit of the U300s was the top-of-the-line model, Dell Inspiron M5030R Battery Original , featuring an Intel Core i7 processor and a 256GB SSD; its $1,495 price certainly reflects that. However, the starting configuration of the U300s costs $1,095. For that, you get a 1.6-GHz Intel Core i5-2457M processor, 4GB of RAM, and a 128GB SSD. Dell Inspiron M5030 Laptop Battery , The software pre-load on the U300s is exceedingly light. No annoying trialware for an antivirus utility here. Instead, Lenovo smartly goes with the free Microsoft Security Essentials 2.0, which we've found to be highly effective in the past. The only other app of note on the U300s is Lenovo's One Key Recovery, which can be activated by pressing a Dell Inspiron M5010R Battery , small button by the left vent. This software lets you back up and restore the system. Also included is a 30-day trial of CompuTrace LoJack for Laptops, SRS Premium Sound, Microsoft Office Starter 2010, and Google Chrome.
The MacBook Air is the original Ultrabook in many ways, and it's still the best because it offers an excellent touchpad, a superior screen with wide viewing angles, and true instant-on functionality. Dell Inspiron M5010 Battery Original , But among Windows-powered Ultrabooks, the U300s edges out the Zenbook UX31 because its touchpad is easier to use, and it offers longer battery life and a slightly better keyboard. On the other hand, the UX31 has a higher-res display, better sound, a more stunning design, and an SD card slot.Battery for Dell 312-0774,
Like the ASUS UX31, the Lenovo IdeaPad U300s gets many things right, Dell Inspiron N5010R Battery, but not enough to beat the 13-inch MacBook Air. While it may not be as flashy, we like this Ultrabook's solid aluminum design, excellent performance, and nearly 7 hours of battery life. Yet, for $1,495, we would expect a backlit keyboard, higher-res screen, and SD card slot. Dell Inspiron M501 Battery , We're still waiting for the perfect Ultrabook, but the U300s is a very good choice for those pining for a Windows-powered Air alternative. It’s no secret that rent-to-own giant Rent-a-Center sells computers at an incredible markup, but the company’s new “Pre-Black Friday” deal stands out as one of its worst ever. In a commercial fronted by celebrity sDell Inspiron M501R Battery Best Buy , pokesmen Hulk Hogan and Troy Aikman, the store promotes a “Pre-Black Friday” deal on a low-end Acer AS5250 notebook that, at $24.99 a week for 52 weeks, ends up costing $1299.48.The 15.6-inch Acer AS5250 Rent-a-Center sells is spec’ed with a lowly 1-GHz AMD C-50 CPU, 2GB of RAM, a 250GB hard drive, a 1366 x 768 screen, Battery for Dell BATFT00L4, Windows 7 Home Premium, a .3-megapixel webcam, and a DVD-R drive. Without any sale pricing, Target sells the same Acer AS5250 with 3GB of RAM instead of 2GB for just $349.99. That’s a 371 percent price markup for the privilege of paying in weekly installments.Dell Inspiron N5010D Laptop Battery Original ,
As with every product it sells, Rent-a-Center allows you to stop paying at any time Acer NV73 charger, so you can return the product and lose your investment in it well before the 52-week period ends. However, after just 14 weeks, you’ll have already spent enough to cover the $349.99 this notebook would have cost you at Target. If you’d rather invest your $24.99 a week in home theater, Rent-a-Center’s other major Pre-Black Friday deal involves a 46-inch Sony KDL46EX523 HDTV that will cost you $2,598.96 over a period of 24 months. Dell Inspiron N5010D-148 Battery , Best Buy currently sells the same TV for just $949.99 and the big box retailer even offers an interest-free, 36-month financing plan that amounts to a monthly payment of $27.14 for those who cannot pony up the full amount at purchase time.Rent-a-Center’s predatory pricing practices have been well documented by outlets such as Consumer Reports and the New York Daily News. “ Dell Inspiron N5010D-168 Battery ,Avoid rent-to-own, even if it means postponing purchases until you can better afford them,” Consumer Reports advises. They’re designed to be super thin, resume from sleep almost instantly, and last a long time on a charge—with standby times measured in days instead of hours. No, we’re not referring to the MacBook Air but a new breed of Windows laptop called Ultrabooks.Acer TravelMate 7530 charger,
Ultrabooks are different than the Air in Acer MD7818 charger, that they run Windows and generally cost less than Apple’s model. Sometimes a lot less. The Acer Aspire S3, for example, starts at just $899, $400 less than the 13-inch Air. That’s pretty cheap for a 3-pound laptop that measures 0.5 inches thick and packs Core i5 power. Then there’s the fact that not everyone wants to use the Mac OS, which requires a learning Acer MD7801u charger, curve for Windows users. “It’s harder to convince them to go to Mac and use a new OS and to use the new programs—to convert and all that,” said Eric Ackerson, Acer’s senior product marketing and brand manager. “And with an $899 price point, we feel pretty good about it.” Of course, Acer isn’t the only one looking to take a bite out of Apple’s market share. ASUS, Lenovo, Toshiba, and others are lining up their own Acer MD7801 charger, Ultrabooks for this holiday season and beyond. But will they win over shoppers, or just remind them how green the grass is on the other side? The MacBook Air isn’t the only reason Intel is putting a lot of money and resources behind the Ultrabook category. Acer TravelMate 7730G Original charger, As some start to question the value of notebooks versus sleeker tablets such as the iPad, it’s imperative that Intel and its partners find a way to make laptops more like tablets.Laptop Battery for Dell P866C,
“I don’t believe that the iPad is cannibalizing notebook sales, Acer MD78 charger Best Buy,said Stephen Baker, vice president of industry analysis of The NPD Group. “But there’s no question that manufacturers are trying to make their devices look more like tablets.”To be more tablet-like, Intel is focusing on both design and a new way to measure performance. “The most readily apparent feature of an Ultrabook is going to be radical reductions in the Battery for Dell T561C , height of the platform, but that’s just the most visible change,” said Greg Welch, who heads up the Ultrabook group at Intel. “They’ll also be much more responsive. By responsive, we mean when you hit the power button you are back up and running.”According to Intel’s definition, Battery for Dell T555C, a bona fide Ultrabook has four key ingredients. It must measure less than 21mm thick (0.8 inches) and be able to wake from a deep sleep in 7 seconds or less. This is accomplished either via a solid state drive or a hybrid hard drive that utilizes a small amount of flash to store the system state. Battery for Dell P891C, The other two defining characteristics are long battery life (5 to 8 hours) and support for Intel’s Anti-Theft Technology and Identity Protection software. This isn’t the first time that Intel and its partners have tried to ignite interest in thin-and-light notebooks. A couple of years ago, Acer MD7330u charger, CULV (consumer ultra-low voltage) laptops were poised to be the next big thing, but most consumers balked at their relatively high prices and underwhelming performance.Acer MD2614u charger,
“I think our motives were a bit Acer MD2601 Laptop charger, confused in the past,” said Welch. “We just said, ‘Hey, we’ll sell these parts at a premium, and if we get people to buy more we’ll make more money.’” Now, Welch says Intel is taking a more holistic approach by working more Acer MC7833 charger, closely with its partners to define Ultrabooks and to help market them.In addition, the CPUs inside Ultrabooks promise a much snappier experience than CULV machines offered. “The ultra low voltage processor inside our Ultrabook is equal to the last generation of Core i Series Acer MC7803 charger, of standard voltage, so it’s certainly acceptable,” Ackerson said. Although Ultrabooks seem to have a lot going for them, the first machines we reviewed didn’t win us over. The Acer Aspire S3, for example, disappointed with a somewhat cheap-feeling plastic deck (only the lid is metal) and a relatively short battery life (less than 4.5 hours). Acer MC7801 charger, That’s below Intel’s claim for the category. The $1,299 13-inch Air is all aluminum and lasts 6.5 hours on a charge.Acer’s Ackerson admits that the company had to cut some corners, such as a backlit keyboard and all-metal design, to reach a Acer MC78 charger, certain price point. The S3 also features a hybrid hard drive that combines a 320GB mechanical drive with a 20GB solid state drive that acts as a buffer to save the system state. This approach gives the notebook a lot more storage than the base model MacBook Air’s 128GB, but it also led to more sl***ish overall performance.Acer TravelMate 7530G Laptop charger Best Buy,
Priced at $1,099, ASUS’ Zenbook UX31 Acer MC7321 charger,(pictured below) impressed us more. In addition to 128GB of fast all-flash storage, this super-thin laptop boasts an ultra-premium spun-metal finish, a sharper display than the 13-inch Air (1600 x 900 vs. 1440 x 900 pixels) and more robust sound. Unfortunately, a temperamental touchpad prevented us from giving the Ultrabook a higher rating. ASUS told us that a major driver release Acer MC7310 charger, would improve two-finger operation and multitouch performance. Not surprisingly, Digitimes reported this week that initial Ultrabook sales are off to a slow start. The site claimed that Acer and Asus were expecting to ship less than half the target number of machines. Acer Aspire 7740 charger,When we reached out to Intel to comment, spokesperson Kari Aakre defended the Ultrabook category, saying that “we’re confident that Ultrabooks will quickly become the must-have devices for this seeason, and that early buzz from product reviewers has been pretty positive.”Perhaps the Lenovo U300S and Toshiba Portege Z830 will fare better, Acer Aspire 7736ZG Laptop charger, but at the moment the Ultrabook revolution feels a lot like the post-iPhone and -iPad gold rushes, with multiple companies attempting to cash in on trends Apple started.Acer Aspire 7736 charger, |

Research In Motion's much-maligned tablet DELL Vostro V130 Battery , computer, the BlackBerry PlayBook , is finally a viable choice, thanks to its heavily revised OS and a massive price drop. The PlayBook's user interface is beautiful, graceful, and operates with a simplicity that rivals that of the Apple iPad 2 ($399 for 16GB, 4.5 stars) and bests current Android tablets like the Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime ($499 for 32GB, 4 stars). Dell Inspiron Mini 1018 Battery , The BlackBerry PlayBook is also much less expensive than before, at just $199 for 16GB, $249 for 32GB, and $299 for 64GB. In fact, the 16GB $199 model is the same price as the 8GB Amazon Kindle Fire ($199, 4 stars), although the Kindle Fire (Best Deal: $199.00 at Amazon) is a more capable media machine, with its nicely integrated, Dell Inspiron M101 Battery Original , cloud-based ecosystem of books, music, and movies. Meanwhile, the PlayBook still suffers from a dearth of compelling apps. And Apple's third-generation iPad (Best Deal: $595.00 at Amazon Marketplace), which is just hitting stores, makes an argument for buying a PlayBook all that much tougher. DELL Vostro 3500 Battery ,

Click to EnlargeThe U400's keyboard was identical to the FUJITSU SIEMENS S26391-F405-L600 , layout on the U300: While the smile-shaped, AccuType chiclet-style keyboard was well spaced, the travel wasn't as great as on the ThinkPad X1. As a result, we found ourselves pressing harder than we liked. Also, the right Shift key is undersized, which seems odd considering the half inch of space on either side of the keyboard. Considering the price, we would also have liked a backlit keyboard.Lenovo took a step FUJITSU SIEMENS LifeBook T4215 Battery Original , back with the touchpad on the U400. The glass Cypress trackpad offered poor palm rejection. While it measures a spacious 4 x 2 inches, too often while we were writing this review our hand would brush up against the trackpad and inadvertently move the cursor all around the screen. It was infuriating, and the only remedy was to turn off tap-to-click.Multitouch gestures worked fairly well, though. Pinch-to-zoom and rotate was fast and responsive, as was three-finger flick. FUJITSU SIEMENS LifeBook T4210 Battery , The U400's touchpad does let you do some nifty things. The Lenovo Essential G770 earns the top FUJITSU LifeBook T4220 Tablet PC Battery , spot in this comparison thanks to being better where it counts; namely in areas of design and user interface. At nearly the same price, no difference is too small to disregard. The G770 has a superior design thanks to its aluminum accents, a better feeling FUJITSU LifeBook T4215 Battery Original , Chiclet keyboard, slightly better speakers, and more USB ports. Overall at this price it makes a great stay-at-home family notebook.17-inch notebooks aren't just for gamers; the affordable HP Pavilion dv7t and Dell Inspiron 17R are two of the most popular and widely available notebooks in their class. These two attractive desktop replacements start at $600 FUJITSU LifeBook T4220 Battery , and function as great at-home computers, especially for families.Items highlighted indicate which notebook has the advantage. The notebooks are configured as closely as possible for comparison.
The HP Pavilion dv7t and Dell Inspiron 17R are neck-and-neck; the price difference is almost laughable. I upgraded both notebooks to a faster Core i5 processor (a Core i3 is standard) but otherwise left the FUJITSU LifeBook T4210 Battery Original , standard configurations unchanged. The HP came standard with a two-year warranty; it was a $69 option on the Dell.
Despite the company’s halo products – such as the XPS 15z and XPS 13 FUJITSU S26391-F795-L600 , Ultrabook – Dell predictably underperforms in the design arena. The Inspiron series especially has never fared well (remember the white bumpers on the Insprion 9300 of yore?); the 17R fails to improve the situation. The all-plastic design looks and feels rather cheap FUJITSU FPCBP215AP , which is a shame since it’s actually a solid product; there’s little flex anywhere in the unit. The excess use of glossy plastic is an issue; fingerprints are the sworn enemy.
On the contrary HP continues to improve the look and feel of its Pavilion series notebooks; the dv7t has a stylish chassis with brushed aluminum accents and clever design touches such as the silver speaker grilles. Original FUJITSU FPCBP200AP , It feels an entire class up from the Dell despite being about the same price.
Neither notebook offers a backlit keyboard, which is a shame as it’s a real selling point. That aside, both the HP and Dell have solid, full-size keyboards with separate numeric keypads. FUJITSU FPCBP155AP Battery Original , The dv7t has one of the new ‘Chiclet’ style keyboards with extra spacing between the keys; the 17R has flat keys but sticks with the traditional keyboard style. The tactile feel from both keyboards is satisfactory however I prefer the HP; the slightly heavier keystrokes inspire more confidence and it’s quieter to boot.DELL Vostro 3700 Battery ,
One of the sleekest Ultrabooks yet, Charger for Asus 90NITLILD4SU1 , the Toshiba Portege Z835 eschews bling in favor of understated elegance. The gunmetal-gray brushed-metal lid and deck combine with matching sides and a smooth, gray bottom to provide a unity of color and a feng-shui-like simplicity of design. The two silver touchpad buttons, hinge caps, and Toshiba logo--along with subtle green Charger for Asus 90NITLILD4SU , and orange status lights below the touchpad--provide subtle but attractive accents. We particularly like the hinge design, which features one long hinge that connects the middle of the lid to the deck instead of having two small hinges on either side.At just 2.4 pounds, the Toshiba Portege Z835 is significantly lighter than 3-pound competitors such as the 13-inch MacBook Air, the Lenovo IdeaPad U300s, and the ASUS ZenBook UX31. Original Charger for Asus 90-NIA1B1000 , However, since the entire chassis is made out of a magnesium alloy, the Portege Z835 feels really solid; it didn't creak or buckle at all when we held it by the palmrest with just one hand. The lightweight lid also feels really sturdy, and it closes and opens with a smooth motion.Charger for Asus 90-NI11B1000 , At 12.4 x 8.9 inches with a thickness of 0.3 to 0.6 inches, the Portege is also much smaller and thinner than competitors such as the ASUS ZenBook UX31 (13.3 x 8.9 x 0.7 inches) and the MacBook Air 13-inch (12.8 x 8.9 x 0.1-0.7 inches), though the Air is thinner at its thinnest point.Charger for Asus A32-B50,
At first glance, the Toshiba Portege Z835's Charger for Asus 90-NFY6B1000Z , keyboard has a lot going for it. The island-style keys are well spaced and for the most part large, with the exception of a small Esc key. And unlike other Ultrabook keyboards, the Portege Z835's is both backlit and spill-resistant. The palm rest is deep enough to cradle one's wrists and stays cool and comfortable as you type.Unfortunately, Charger for Asus 90-NFV6B1000Z , the keys felt somewhat stiff and shallow. There's not a lot of travel here. On the Ten Thumbs Typing test, we managed our average 80-word-per-minute speed but with a whopping 4-percent error rate (1-percent is our usual) due to the unresponsive keys.In a welcome change from other Ultrabooks, many of which use jerky clickpads with embedded buttons, the Z835's highly accurate (but small) touchpad has two discrete buttons below it. OriginalCharger for Asus 90-NE51B2000 , Whereas we had to fight problematic pads on the ASUS ZenBook UX31 and Acer Aspire S3 just to make our way across the desktop, the Portege's pad is one of the most comfortable and accurate we've used on any notebook. Not only were we able to move our pointer with great precision, but multitouch gestures such as pinch-to-zoom and pivot rotate Charger for Asus 3UR18650F-2-QC-11 , were nice and smooth. After we enabled them in the control panel, the pad also allowed three-finger flick (for swiping between photos in a gallery) and three-finger press (for launching the browser).Charger for Asus LBASL7000L,
The Toshiba Portege Z835 stayed pleasantly cool throughout our tests. Charger for Asus BATTF7400, After streaming a video at full screen for 15 minutes, we measured the touchpad at just 78 degrees, the keyboard at just 84 degrees, and the underside at 84 degrees Fahrenheit. We consider any temperature below 95 degrees acceptable and below 90 Charger for Asus AS-L7000L, degrees imperceptible.
The 1366 x 768 glossy display provided images that were sharp and bright, but not overly colorful. In a 1080p QuickTime trailer for The Avengers, objects were crisp and motion smooth, but the orange of an explosion and the red in Thor's cape seemed washed out compared to images on the 13-inch MacBook Air. Placed side by side with the Air, Charger for Asus ACGACCBATTF7400, the Portege Z835's screen looked particularly bland and colorless, but then the Air costs $400 more.Using a light meter, we measured the Portege Z835's screen at 260 lux, which is better than the paltry 162 lux of the Lenovo IdeaPad U300s, but much weaker than the MacBook Air 13-inch's 330 lux and the ASUS UX31's 360 lux. Viewing angles were solid up to about 60 degrees to the left or right.Charger for Asus A42-B50,
The speakers, which sit below the Portege Z835's front lip, Charger for Asus 90-N10BT1220, provided surprisingly loud, mostly accurate audio. When we listened to both a an R&B tune, "Family Affair" by Mary J. Blige and a guitar-centric rock song, "All Along the Watchtower" by Jimi Hendrix, the music was extremely clear and not at all tinny, but it was Original Charger for Asus A42-G70, hard to make out a separation of sound between the left and right sides. The notebook's Wavemaxx audio software, which is enabled by default, definitely helps the sound quality; the music sounded completely monotone when we toggled it off.
Unlke other Ultrabooks that leave out critical ports to save space, the Portege Z835 has a complete array of full-size connections that don't Charger for Asus 70-NKT1B1100, require special adapters or cables. On the notebook's right side sit a USB 3.0 port and a Kensington lock slot. The back is adorned with a standard Ethernet port, two USB 2.0 ports, HDMI out, and a full-size VGA port. The left side houses Charger for Asus 70-NKT1B1000, audio in/out jacks and an SD card reader. The 1.3-megapixel webcam offered reasonable image quality under good lighting conditions, but is weak in low light. In our dark living room, the image of our face was rather blocky and shadowed. However, in direct light, sharpness and detail were solid (though colors were muted).Charger for Asus A32-T13,
As the saying goes, two is always better than one, but which dual video card setup should you get on the Alienware M18x: AMD's or Nvidia's? While the AMD-powered M18x scored a little higher on the synthetic 3DMark06 test, the Nvidia-powered configuration had Charger for Asus A32-F9, slightly higher frame rates in actual game play. At present, Alienware also charges $150 more for the Nvidia cards, making the AMD seem like a better value on this rig, though Nvidia has a minor edge in real-world performance. With either video card option, the Alienware Charger for Asus A31-F9 Original, M18x remains the gaming notebook to beat, if money is no object. If you don't have $4,500 laying around, the next best option is the $2,076 ASUS G73SW-A2 with its 2-GHz Intel Core i7-2630QM CPU, 16GB of RAM, Nvidia GeForce GTX 560M, and 750GB, 7,200-rpm hard drive and 160GB SSD. But if you're looking for the most powerful gaming rig in the land, stick with the Alienware M18x. Charger for Asus 90-NER1B2000Y, What separates a good laptop from a great one? Click to EnlargeThe 14-inch, 1366 x 768 glossy display Laptop Battery for ASUS NX90 , on the U400 is just average. Colors were plenty vivid when watching a 1080p trailer of Mission: Impossible streamed from YouTube, but we noticed a good deal of splotchiness in darker areas. We also found viewing angles to be somewhat limited; Original Battery for ASUS U46 , images started washing out when we sat on either side of the display.Using an AEMC lightmeter, we measured an average brightness of 165 lux on the U400, which is brighter than the Gateway ID47 (153 lux) and the Lenovo IdeaPad V470 (144 lux), but less than the Original Battery for ASUS U46E , Inspiron 14z (194 lux) and the ASUS U46S (233 lux).Emanating from beneath the keyboard, audio was merely passable. Even when we cranked Eminem's "Lose Yourself," from Pandora, it was underwhelming. Higher tones were accurate and Laptop Battery for ASUS U46J , undistorted, but we missed the driving bass line. The SRS control panel helped marginally; we s***est leaving it on the Movie preset to get the most bass out of the system. Similar to the U300s, the U400 keeps its internals cool by drawing air in through its "breathable" keyboard and out through the vent on the left side and rear hinge. Battery for ASUS U46JC , This managed to keep the laptop relatively cool. After streaming a Hulu video at full screen for 15 minutes, the touchpad was a chilly 78 degrees, the G and H keys measured 89, and the middle of the underside was 90. All are well below what we consider uncomfortable: 95 Battery Original for ASUS U46S , degrees.
Lenovo even manages to Laptop Battery for ASUS K93SV , make the ports on the U400 look cool. The right side has--from front to back--a headphone jack, two USB ports, and a slot-loading DVD drive. The left has a USB 3.0 and an Ethernet jack.Inexplicably, though, there's no SD card slot. It's an egregious Battery for ASUS K93S , omission. In fact, we'd prefer an SD card slot to an optical drive, and we bet a lot of other buyers would too.The U400's 1.3-megapixel webcam can record video up to 1280 x 720. Using the CyberLink YouCam app, it did a good job of picking up colors, Battery for ASUS K93 , such as the green in our eyes, but we noticed a lot of noise, even in a well-lit room. The YouCam app lets you add fun effects such as avatars, but only at resolutions of 640 x 480 and below. We did like the option to record our desktop, something that could be Battery Original for ASUS U56JC , useful for tutorials. The U400's 2.4-GHz Intel Core i5-2430M processor, 8GB of RAM, and 750GB hard drive provided fairly strong performance. In PCMark07, the U400 scored 2,307, which bests the thin-and-light category average by 250 points, as well as the ASUS U46SV, which has the same processor and RAM. However, the U400 was on an equal footing Laptop Battery for ASUS U56E , as the Dell XPS 14z (2,329) and the Gateway ID47 (2,342).
Click to EnlargeWhile it has a standard speed of 5,400 rpm, Battery for ASUS U56 , the 750GB drive in the U400 was fairly speedy. Using the Lenovo EE Boot optimizer, the notebook's booted into Windows 7 Home Premium in 48 seconds, which is much faster than the average thin-and-light machine (65 seconds), Battery for ASUS U46SV , but twice as long as Ultrabooks. However, the U400 did wake from sleep in a snappy 2 seconds. The hard drive duplicated a 5GB folder of multimedia in 2 minutes and 48 seconds, a rate of 30.3 MBps. That's 3 MBps faster than average, Battery for ASUS U46SD , and even with the ASUS U46S.On the OpenOffice Spreadsheet test, the U400 took 5 minutes and 34 seconds to match 20,000 names to their corresponding addresses, which is practically identical to the U46SV (5:33) and only slightly slower Lenovo G560 battery than the Inspiron 14z (5:28) and the Gateway ID47 (5:27). The category average is 6:14. Click to EnlargeCrammed into the U400's frame is a discrete AMD Radeon HD 6470M graphics card as well as an integrated Intel GMA 3000 GPU. Like Nvidia's Optimus technology, the notebook will switch from one GPU to the other Lenovo G560A battery depending on the task. Unlike Nvidia's solution, you have to configure this manually, selecting the apps that should use the discrete GPU using AMD's Catalyst Control Center utility. It's a time-consuming extra step.Lenovo G560E Laptop battery Original
The discrete GPU didn't offer LENOVO G550M Laptop battery tremendous performance. On 3DMark06, the U400 scored 4,489, about 100 points below the category average, and half that of the ASUS U46SV (8,939), which has Nvidia GeForce GT540M graphics. Even the XPS 14z's Nvidia GeForce LENOVO G550G battery GT 520M GPU fared better (5,461).On World of Warcraft, the U400 averaged 44 frames per second on autodetect, which is playable but not stellar. By comparison, the U46SV averaged 61 fps, and the XPS 14z notched 60 fps. Increasing the LENOVO G550A Laptop battery graphics to max dropped the U400's average to an unplayable 21 fps, 10 below the average.Forget about more-demanding titles: On Far Cry 2, the U400 averaged just 21 fps with the resolution at 1024 x 768 and effects on default.
Notebooks with sealed batteries LENOVO G550 Laptop battery are becoming more and more popular on thin-and-light laptops. It creates a unibody look but prevents users from replacing the battery. The U400 lasted 5 hours and 45 minutes on the LAPTOP Battery Test, which involves continuous web surfing over Wi-Fi on 40-percent brightness. That runtime is about 15 minutes longer than average, and it beat out the lenovo ideapad u550 battery Dell XPS 14z (5:23), but was far below the ASUS U46SV (6:52) as well as the Gateway ID47 (7:48).
Click to EnlargeInstalled programs on the U400 include Microsoft Office Starter 2010, Cyberlink Power2Go and PowerDVD 10, and we also like that Chrome is preinstalled, lenovo ideapad u450p 3389 battery even if it's given the generic name Internet Browser here.
Lenovo utilities include OneKey Recovery HP HSTNN-179C and Energy Management (little more than a nice skin for the Windows power manager). A temporary trial of Absolute Data Protect is also included, which lets you remotely wipe the laptop should it get stolen. As with the U300s, we liked that HP HSTNN-181C we weren't bothered by annoying pop-ups for third-party antivirus software, just Microsoft Security Essentials.
Our $899 version of the U400 (2.4-GHz Intel Core i5-2430M processor, 8GB of RAM, and 750GB hard drive) was the mid-range option. HP HSTNN-CB0W For $1,299, consumers get a 2.7-GHz Intel Core i7-2620M processor and 8GB of RAM. The starting model, whose price has not yet been listed, has a 2.2-GHz Intel Core i3-2330M processor. Another version, with a 64GB SSD and a HP HSTNN-CBOX mechanical hard drive, will only be available overseas. The U400 comes with a one-year warranty and 24/7 customer support. Check out our Tech Support Showdown and Best & Worst Brand reports to see how well Lenovo fared.
For better and worse--mostly worse--the Lenovo IdeaPad U400 is simply a larger version of its U300s Ultrabook. HP HSTNN-DB0W While we like its styling and larger hard drive, we still had trouble with its touchpad, and can't get over the fact that there's no SD card slot. For the same $899, we'd much rather have the ASUS U46SV, which offers both greater endurance and better graphics performance, or the Toshiba Portege Z835, which weighs almost half as much, has a backlit keyboard, HP HSTNN-DB0X and gets nearly 7 hours of battery life.
The IdeaPad U400 is nice to look at, but makes too Lenovo G560G Laptop battery many compromises elsewhere.ASUS has virtually cornered the market on lightweight laptops that deliver serious graphics punch, and the U46S looks to continue that fine tradition. Decked out in aluminum, this 14-inch notebook Lenovo G560L battery (priced at $879) combines a fast Intel Core i5 processor with an Nvidia GPU that can handle the latest games. And thanks to Optimus technology, the U46SV can switch between its discrete graphics card and Intel's integrated graphics to extend battery life to Lenovo IdeaPad G560 battery nearly 7 hours. The whopping 750GB of hard drive space doesn't hurt, either. Read on to find out if this machine has what it takes to be your work-and-play partner.
The U46SV makes a good first impression with its spun-metal lid, Lenovo IdeaPad G560A battery which feels sturdy and has a nice texture to it. ASUS opted for a hinge-forward design, similar to Dell's latest Inspiron and XPS lines. This aesthetic enables you to tilt theClick to Enlarge screen back further when you're in cramped quarters, such as on an airplane. The deck of the U46SV is aluminum with a brushed-metal look, while the palm rest is a silver plastic Lenovo IdeaPad G560E battery with a ridged pattern that's similar to the lid. The bottom of the U46SV is "high-impact" plastic with a textured finish. A beefy battery hangs below the rest of the system, which has a line of rubber running across it to prevent slippage on a desk. Overall, this laptop feels solid, Lenovo IdeaPad G560G battery but we noticed some creaking on the right side near the optical drive.
Click to EnlargeASUS bundles the Lenovo IdeaPad G560L battery U46SV with a large suite of software, many of which it organizes in an ASUSTools folder you can access directly from the desktop. You'll find everything from AI Recovery Burner for backup to the LifeFrame webcam software and ASUS WebStorage. Under Safety & Protection you'll find ASUS Secure Delete for shredding files and SmartLogon Lenovo ThinkPad Edge 11inch battery Manager for logging into your system with your face. System Tools highlights include Splendid Utility for tweaking display settings and Syncables Desktop for syncing files with other computers on your network. ASUS also includes its Vibe Fun Center, a games and entertainment portal.Third-party software offerings include Adobe Reader 9, Lenovo ThinkPad X100e battery a trial of Office 2010 (you can use the free Starter), and a trial of Trend Micro Titanium Internet Security.

Click to EnlargeThe diamond cut accents lenovo ideapad u450p 20031 battery around the touchpad add a touch of elegance, and we appreciate that the power button is backlit. Sadly, the keyboard is not backlit, a feature we almost expect now at this price. Above the keyboard on the left side is a launch button for LENOVO IdeaPad U150 battery ASUS' ExpressGate feature, which lets you hop online without booting Windows. At 13.1 x 9.6 x 1.1 inches, the U46SV is reasonably sized, given that it squeezes a 14-inch screen in a 13-inch size chassis. However, this laptop's 5-pound weight makes Lenovo ThinkPad X100e 3508 battery it heavier than some competing systems, such as the Dell XPS 14z (4.4 pounds) and the Gateway ID47 (4.4 pounds). The Dell XPS 14z is also thinner, at 0.9 inches. Part of this bulk is because of the U46SV's integrated optical drive, and part is because of its large Lenovo ThinkPad X100e 3507 battery eight-cell battery.
After streaming Hulu for 15 minutes, the U46SV registered 89 degrees on the touchpad and between the G and H keys and 96 degrees on the underside of the system. We consider anything above 95 to be uncomfortable, so this ASUS was relatively cool. However, fan noise did become an issue when we played Batman: Arkham City. It's a good thing this laptop's speakers get Lenovo ThinkPad X100e 3506 battery loud. |

| HITACHI VisionBook Pro 6000 Battery | Apr. 24, 2012 |
|
Now, Acer is upping the specs of the S3—adding HITACHI DR31 , a 240GB SSD and an Intel Core i7 processor–and upping the price to $1,299. This configuration should see performance on a par with Ultrabooks such as the ASUS Zenbook UX31 and the Lenovo IdeaPad U300s. HITACHI DR36S , We’re interested to see if it will improve upon the S3′s poor battery life of 4 hours and 23 minutes.
The rest of the notebook remains the same: a 13.3-inch, 1366 x 768 display, aluminum/magnesium chassis (though the deck and underside are plastic),HITACHI BTP-031 , a thickness of 0.51 inches, and a weight of 3 pounds. Both configurations of the S3 will be available for sale this week at retailers including Amazon, NewEgg, TigerDirect, and Best Buy. Now that Acer, ASUS, Lenovo, and Toshiba have released Ultrabooks (and HP is hot on their heels), which one comes closest to the Intel ideal of a HITACHI DR36S , machine that weighs less than 3 pounds, measures less than an inch thick, boots quickly, and lasts a long time on a charge? And which of these machines is the best MacBook Air altnerative? Read on for a round-by-round comparison of the Acer Aspire S3, ASUS Zenbook UX31, Lenovo IdeaPad U300s, and Toshiba Portege Z835. HITACHI DR202 , The most MacBook Air-like of all the Ultrabooks is undoubtedly the ASUS UX31, which not only has the same wedge-shaped profile, but one-ups Apple’s device with a two-toned look. The darker lid has a circular brush pattern, while the lighter-colored deck and bottom have a more traditional brushed-metal finish.HITACHI VisionBook Plus 4300 Battery ,
Lenovo’s U300s and Toshiba’s Portege Z835 HITACHI VisionBook Pro 6000 Laptop Battery , have roughly the same thickness throughout and are more subdued in appearance, as befits their business-focused customers. The only design we didn’t like was the Acer Aspire S3′s; the plastic deck feels chintzy, especially when you consider its competitors are all metal. While all four weigh 3 pounds or less, the Z835 comes in at a netbook-like 2.4 pounds. HITACHI VisionBook plus Battery , Winner: ASUS UX31. When you’re choosing an ultraportrable, you want it to turn heads, and even the packaging and peripherals for the UX31 scream luxury. In fact, we think the Zenbook is better looking than the MacBook Air. However, the Toshiba Z835 HITACHI VisionBook Plus 4360 Laptop Battery , gets points for its sturdy yet lightweight design.HP is throwing its hat in the Ultrabook ring with the Folio, a svelte 13-inch laptop targeting the business crowd. Although it’s heavier than competing systems, the Core i5-powered Folio promises up to 9 hours of battery life, which would be best-in-class endurance if our testing bears that out. The notebook goes on sale December 7th for $899. HITACHI VisionBook Plus 4350 Battery , Get our hands-on impressions, full specs, and gallery below.
Weighing 3.3 pounds, the Folio is a bit heavier than the other Ultrabooks–the Battery replacement for Acer Travelmate 7750 Toshiba Z835 is almost a full pound less. Still, the Folio is just 0.7 inches thick, which means it’ll disappear inside your bag when traveling. Plus, HP found room for an Ethernet port for those who need to connect to wired networks. Battery for Acer TravelMate 7750G We also like that the Folio has a backlit keyboard; currently, the only other Ultrabook to have such a feature is the Toshiba Z835. The Folio straddles HP’s business and consumer lines, and as such, takes some of its visual cues from both. The brushed-aluminum lid and keyboard deck are reminiscent of the ProBook, while the touchpad and keyboard remind us Battery for Acer TravelMate 7750Z of the Pavilion dm4 from 2010. Like other HP notebooks, the Folio incorporates CoolSense technology to keep the heat down, and a soft-touch bottom means this Ultrabook will be all the more comfortable on your lap. Other features include an HD webcam and TPM security. There’s a 128GB SSD under the hood that starts Windows fast, Battery for Acer TravelMate 8472 but we didn’t see the near-instant wake capability from this machine that the Asus Zenbook and MacBook Air offer. The 1.6-GHz Core i5 processor should provide plenty of oomph for productivity on the go.There’s no denying that the redesigned Envy 15 and 17 replacement Battery for Acer Travelmate 8472 HF look a lot like the MacBook Pro. And we’re not complaining. For the first time in three years, HP has done a major overhaul of its premium notebook line. The No. 1 PC maker ditched the darker colors and stamped metal look on previous Envys in favor of a lighter aluminum color on the inside that it says will appeal to a wider audience. The lid is black, so the aesthetic isn’t completely Battery for Acer Travelmate 8472G Appleseque.
Something else that’s not Applesque? The price. Battery for Acer TravelMate TM5740-X322DHBF The Envy 15 will start at $1,099, compared to $1,799 for the 15-inch MacBook Pro. And the Envy 17 will start at $1,249, a full $1,250 less than the 17-inch Pro. But while the MBPros feature Core i7 CPUs in their base configurations, the Envy’s start with Core i5 processors. Both Envys will be available starting December 7. Read on for more details, Battery for Acer TravelMate TM5740-X322DF and check out our hands-on video and full gallery.Another feature that make these Envys stand out from the MacBook Pro is a physical volume dial on the right side. It’s been some time since we’ve seen anything like it on a notebook. The metal dial has a nice weight to it, and pressing down on it brings up the Beats Audio control panel. Both the Envy 15 and the Envy 17 will have six speakers: Battery for Acer TravelMate TM5740-X322D Four in the front edge, and two above the keyboard, plus a subwoofer on the bottom.
The keyboard is now in a recessed well that’s bordered by a red stripe. HP says it improved the backlighting–each button gets its own LED–so it’s brighter and there’s less light leakage from around the keys. The major difference between the Envy 15 and the Envy 17 is that the latter replacement Battery for Acer TravelMate TM5740-X322 will have a full-size number pad.
While we really like the look and feel of these machines, Battery for Acer Travelmate 8472G HF they’re significantly heavier than their Mac counterparts. The Envy 15 weighs 6.3 pounds versus 5.6 pounds for the 15-inch MacBook Pro. And the new Envy 17 weighs nearly a pound more than the 17-inch Pro (7.5 vs. 6.6 pounds). Both notebooks will be available with an optional Radiance Full HD display, and the Envy 17 will have an replacement Battery for Acer Travelmate 8472T optional 3D panel. Both systems will start with an Intel Core i5 processor and discrete AMD graphics. The Envy 17 will also come with two DisplayPort connections, as well as HDMI, which means consumers will be able to take full advantage of AMD’s Eyefinity technology for powering three displays simultaneously. Despite all this power, the Envy 15 will last up to 9 hours on charge, and the Battery for Acer Travelmate 8472T HF Envy 17 will last up to 9.5 hours, according to HP. HP’s popular 14-inch Pavilion dm4 is getting a slight makeover that includes Beats Audio, a subwoofer, and an optional backlit keyboard for $629. And for those who really like the blacked-out look, HP is offering the dm4 in a slick $899 Beats Edition, similar to the Envy 14 Beats Edition that Battery for Acer Travelmate 8472TG debuted a year ago.
Get all the details below and be sure to Battery for Acer TravelMate TM5740 check out our hands-on gallery of the dm4.The dm4 will weigh 4.5 pounds, measure an inch thick, and be available with either an aluminum dark umber or a steel gray metal finish on the lid and deck. Like the previous dm4t, it will have an HD webcam, HP CoolSense, and HP SimplePass with a built-in fingerprint reader. The Beats Edition will have an all-black Battery replacement for Acer TravelMate 8573TG soft-touch exterior and a red backlit keyboard. The optional Solo HD headphones will be a $200 option, and will only be offered to those purchasing the dm4 Beats Edition. The Pavilion dm4 will with an Intel Core i3 processor, 6GB of RAM, a 640GB hard drive, and integrated graphics; consumers can also opt for AMD Radeon HD 7470M discrete graphics. The Beats Edition includes an Intel Core i5 processor, Battery for Acer TravelMate 8573T 8GB of RAM, and a 750GB hard drive.DigiTimes reports that suppliers have begun shipping components for an ultra-thin 15-inch Apple notebook. It’s unclear whether this laptop will be a new MacBook Air or a slimmer MacBook Pro—and no specs pinpointing the machine’s weight and dimensions have been released—but it looks like we’ll see it hitting stores in March. According to DigiTimes’ “sources from Battery for Acer TravelMate 8573G the upstream supply chain”:
The 7-inch screen on the PlayBase Plus is Dell PR002 Charger a big disappointment, with its low 800-by-480-pixel resolution. It's the same as the Vinci Tab, but much lower than the 1,024-by-600-pixel same-size screen on the Kindle Fire (Best Deal: $199.00 at Amazon). The screen is laminated Dell RD855 Charger with a scratch-resistant and germ-fighting antimicrobial plastic film—both boons for a tablet for kids. The lamination gives the screen a dull and grainy quality, though, and the viewing angle is very narrow. A 0.3-megapixel camera sits in the bezel above the screen, Dell 312-0467 Charger but the protective laminate partially covers the lens opening, making for one of the worst tablet cameras I've ever seen. There is no rear-facing camera.Along the edges of the PlayBase Plus, you'll find Volume and Power buttons along with a 3.5mm headphone jack, microUSB port, and a microSD card slot. The PlayBase Plus is powered by a Dell UD264 Charger single-core 1.2GHz A8 processor, with 1GB RAM and 8GB of internal storage. With those specs, I don't expect spectacular performance, but given the tablet's target audience it's understandable. In my tests, the PlayBase Plus was frequently slow and unresponsive—to the point where I could see it frustrating an impatient child. Apps often take a few seconds to load, and crashes Dell UD260 Charger were fairly routine during testing. The core software is Android 2.3 Gingerbread, but the makers of the PlayBase Plus made a lot of modifications and additions for kids. Animations are more exaggerated, especially when flipping through the eight home screens, but the tablet's subpar components make the animations very choppy. Downloads takes you to your current app downloads from either the Google Play market or the preloaded Soc.io Mall app—a third-party app market that, disappointingly, doesn’t even offer a clear selection of children's apps. Explorer opens a file-management app, which seems like overkill on a kid-centric tablet. The initial environment is Battery for Acer TravelMate 8473 completely open and accessible to anyone using the tablet. It is not until you configure the SafePlay app and Net Nanny Browser that you get to the child-safe features.
The Fujitsu Lifebook T731 has two Battery for Acer TravelMate 8573 operating modes, first as a traditional 12-inch notebook, and second, as a 12-inch Windows tablet. The 12.1-inch touchscreen works with either fingertips or the included stylus. In notebook mode, the Lifebook T731 is equipped with a standard keyboard, complete with anti-microbial coating. The screen is outfitted with a bi-directional hinge—and industry first— Battery for Acer Travelmate 8572TG which allows you to twist it in either direction to convert into tablet mode. One area where the Lifebook T731 leaves other Windows tablets in the dust is the size of its hard drive, which offers 320GB of storage space—not gigantic by notebook standards, Battery for Acer Travelmate 8572T HF but it's a whopper compared to the 64GB and 128GB solid-state drives (SSDs) seen in tablets like the Fujitsu Stylistic Q550 or the Samsung Series 7 Slate (700T1A) ($1,349.99 direct, 4 Stars). The Fujitsu Lifebook T731 is powered by a 2.3GHz dual-core Intel Core i5-2410M with 4GB of RAM. Battery for Acer TravelMate 8473TG
With a laptop-grade processor, the Lifebook Battery for Acer TravelMate 8572T T731 ranks alongside the Series 7 Slate in putting the functionality of a Windows laptop into a touch-friendly form-factor without the compromises of an underpowered Atom processor. The Fujitsu's Intel Core i5 processor pulls double duty for the integrated graphics, but should still be up to the task for all of your Framville-level gaming needs. Battery for Acer TravelMate 8572G Anything beyond that will be out of the question.Fujitsu covers the Lifebook T731 with a three year warranty. The Lifebook T731 can be purchased online through several major electronics retailers.Editors' Note: PCMag.com originally reviewed the PlayBook on 4/13/11 and rated it 2.5 stars. Almost one year later, we're testing the PlayBook again in light of its much lower list price and significantly revised PlayBook 2.0 Battery for Acer Travelmate 8572 Tablet OS. |

One of the main draws of the Iconia Battery for Asus u43j Original, Tab A200 is its budget-friendly pricing. Acer offers two Wi-Fi-only models of the tablet, an 8GB for $329.99 and a 16GB for $349.99. This is considerably less than the Apple iPad 2 ($499, 4 stars) and the current top Android tablet, Battery for Asus u43jc, the Asus Transformer Prime ($499/32GB, 4 stars). However, this low price comes with some sacrifices—most notably in design. The A200 is an unassuming, chunky tablet, measuring 10.2 by 6.9 by 0.5 inches (HWD) and Battery for Asus u43jc-a1 Original, weighing in at a rather hefty 1.54 pounds. The Transformer Prime (Best Deal: $499.99 at Walmart.com) is thinner and lighter, measuring just 0.3 inches at its thickest point and weighing only 1.3 pounds. The Prime also feels sleeker, with thin, tapered edges, Battery for Asus u43jc-b1, as opposed to the flat and squat sides of the A200. A better comparison to the A200 would be the Toshiba Thrive ($399.99/16GB, 3.5 stars), which is 0.6-inches thick and weighs 1.6 pounds. Much like the Thrive (Best Deal: $479.99 at Battery for Asus u43jc-wx041v, Toshiba), the A200 uses an all-plastic construction, with a soft-touch, rubberized back. Tiny dimples cover the back of the A200, making for a pleasantly grippy and tactile feel, which is crucial given the tablet's heft. There are two color choices include titanium gray or metallic red.Battery for Asus u53jc-xx049x,
The 10.1-inch LCD features a 1280-by-800-pixel resolution; great for 7-inch tablets, but average on the Battery for Asus u43jc-wx057v, 10-inch A200. Brightness, colors, and viewing angle are only mediocre, paling in comparison with the brilliant Super IPS+ display of the Transformer Prime. With great girth comes great connectivity. The left side (when held in landscape mode) Battery for Asus u43jc-wx059v, houses the Power button, 3.5mm headphone jack, microUSB port, full-sized USB 2.0 port, and, behind a rather flimsy plastic flap, a microSD card slot. Full-sized USB ports are rare in the tablet world, but I find them very useful for transferring files Battery for Asus u43jc-wx070v, via USB thumb drives. Along the top edge are the volume rocker and orientation lock switch. The A200 does not charge via micro USB like most other tablets; instead, it uses an AC adapter, with the power input on the right edge. Battery for Asus u43jc-wx080v Original, The A200 connects with computers via microUSB cable, but doesn't charge when connected. A 2-megapixel, front-facing camera sits centered above the screen, but there is no rear-facing camera. This is a Wi-Fi only tablet, supporting 802.11b/g/n, and also Bluetooth 2.1+ EDR.Battery for Asus u43jc-wx090x,
Another big draw here is Lenovo ThinkPad L520 battery, Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). ICS is a major step forward for Android devices, with a much-improved browser, smoother UI, and harmonious ecosystem between phones and tablets. So how does it work on a middle-of-the-road Lenovo ThinkPad L512 battery, tablet like the A200? Quite well, actually. The A200 is powered by a dual-core 1GHz Nvidia Tegra 2 processor with 1GB of RAM and performs on par with other similarly equipped tablets, such as the Toshiba Thrive. Compared with the blazing fast, Lenovo ThinkPad L510 battery, quad-core Tegra 3 powered Transformer Prime (another ICS tablet), the A200 gets blown out of the water in our benchmarks. However, in real world usage, the A200 runs ICS smoothly and without any hiccups. Apps work flawlessly, with no delay Lenovo ThinkPad L421 battery Original, when switching between multiple running apps. Web pages load very quickly and the A200 successfully ran through our multimedia test files, playing 3GP, DivX, H.264, M4V, MP4, and WMV at resolutions up to 1080p.Acer also added some of its own tweaks. Lenovo ThinkPad L420 battery, The most notable OS changes are the addition of the Acer Ring to both the lock screen and the menu bar within ICS. The lock screen features four customizable shortcuts, with the defaults set to Browser, Gallery, Google Search, and Gmail. The Acer Ring is slightly more comprehensive within the actual OS, featuring four more customizable shortcuts, a dedicated search button, volume control, Lenovo ThinkPad L412 battery, and browser bookmarks.
I grew to like the Ring, as it eliminated a Lenovo ThinkPad L410 battery, step for getting to my most-used apps, but really, it's just a standard app launcher; similar options are available from other manufacturers, such as the Lenovo Launcher. When we first unboxed the Asus N53SM-DS71 ($979.99 list), we mistook it for a 17-inch laptop, particularly since we'd just tested its smaller 15.6-inch Asus K53SD-DS51 sibling. Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E520 battery, But no, the N53SM-DS71 (Best Deal: $1054.99 at Abe's of Maine) is a 15.6-inch system too—just one in a bigger, beefier chassis, with bigger, beefier parts. Still, while those parts deliver first-class performance, the bulky N53SM-DS71's feature set falls a Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E420 battery, little short of our desktop replacement Editors' Choice Samsung Series 7 (NP700Z5A-S03) ($1,299 list, 4 stars).Another slip we made on first acquaintance with the Asus N53SM-DS71 was pressing the wrong power button. It has two, one for LENOVO IdeaPad V570P battery, Windows and one for Asus Express Gate Cloud—a Linux Gnome environment that boots in a fast 15 seconds or so (compared to about a minute for Windows) to offer a photo viewer, calendar, small selection of games, LENOVO IdeaPad V570G battery, and Web browser with Facebook and YouTube menus. Express Gate is handy, though its interface isn't as friendly as some other dual-boot laptops' we've seen; we were disappointed it has no music player, since the laptop's Bang & Olufsen ICEpower speakers provide excellent audio.LENOVO V570 battery Original, LENOVO V570A Laptop battery,
Measuring 1.6 by 10.6 by 15.6 inches (HWD) LENOVO IdeaPad V570A battery, and weighing 6.4 pounds, the N53SM-DS71 combines a silver aluminum lid with black plastic sides and bottom, with a handsome silver plastic accent stripe wrapping around sides and front. The palm rest features a silky-smooth touchpad with a single bottom bar that serves for both left and right mouse buttons. The keyboard is not backlit like that of the LENOVO IdeaPad V570 battery, Toshiba Satellite P755-S5269 ($979.99 list, 4 stars), but has a comfortably precise typing feel, with dedicated if small Home, End, PgUp, and PgDn keys and a numeric keypad—whose keys are slightly narrower than the primary keys—for number crunchers. LENOVO V570P battery, The 15.6-inch screen is bright and sharp, but its resolution is limited to the same 1,366-by-768 pixels of laptops half the price of the N53SM-DS71. To be fair, so is the Toshiba P755-S5269's, but the Samsung NP700Z5B-W01UB ($1,019 list, 4 stars) LENOVO V570G battery, flaunts a 1,600-by-900 display.
On the wireless front, the N53SM-DS71's Bluetooth and 802.11n Wi-Fi worked without a hitch in our tests. Users dreaming of beaming their audio and video to an HDTV set, however, will find that Intel's Wireless Display (WiDi) is not supported. Neither is watching Blu-ray movies, since the optical drive is a generic Battery for Asus u43jc-wx097v, dual-layer DVD±RW.
The hard drive is a spacious 750GB Seagate unit that spins Battery for Asus u43jc-wx101v, at 7,200 rpm. To Asus' credit, it's largely free of bloatware, though you will find a Trend Micro Titanium Internet Security 30-day trial. Also to Asus' credit is the two-year parts-and-labor warranty, with accidental damage protection for the first year. Two USB 2.0 ports Battery for Asus u43jc-wx118v, and microphone and headphone jacks accompany the DVD burner on the chassis' right side, with a VGA port at the rear. On the left are HDMI and Ethernet ports, a third USB 2.0 and lone USB 3.0 port, and an SD/MMC/MS/MS Pro memory-card slot. A two-megapixel webcam with sliding shutter or on/off switch is above the screen. Battery for Asus u43jc-wx130v, While we've groused about what the N53SM-DS71 doesn't have—a high-res screen, a backlit keyboard—it's time to acknowledge what it does have compared with the less expensive K53SD-DS51 (Best Deal: $778.11 at PC Connection Express): a 2.2GHz Battery for Asus u43jc-wx139v, quad-core Intel Core i7-2670QM processor and 2GB Nvidia GeForce GT 630M graphics. The combination gobbled up our benchmarks and roared for more, scoring 2,461—within shouting distance of the Samsung Series 7's (Best Deal: $1,271.99 at CDW) score of 2,697—in PCMark 7 and tying the Apple MacBook Pro 15-inch (late 2011)'s ($1,799 direct, 4 stars) Laptop Battery for Asus u43jc-x1 Original, desktop replacement record of 1 minute and 30 seconds in our Handbrake video encoding test. It also finished on top of the charts with a score of 5.28 in the Cinebench CPU benchmark. Battery for Asus u43sd,
The N53SM-DS71 couldn't run our Crysis benchmark, Battery for Asus u43sd-wx007v, but posted a playable 42.4 frames per second in Lost Planet 2 at medium (1,024 by 768) resolution and detail settings. It joined the elite 10,000-point club with a 3DMark06 score of 10,257 at the same settings. The N53SM-DS71's time of 5 hours 14 Laptop Battery for Asus u43sd-wx024v, minutes in our MobileMark 2007 battery rundown test is fairly good for a desktop replacement—competitive with the MacBook Pro 15-inch (Best Deal: $1,689.99 at MacConnection) and Toshiba Satellite P755-S5269, though well short of the Samsung Battery for Asus u52, NP700Z5B-W01UB's 8:18. Its 56Wh battery pack is removable or swappable for a spare, unlike many more slender laptops' nowadays. Our expectations for a near-$1,000 laptop have risen. The Asus N53SM-DS71 isn't lavish with features such as Battery for Asus u52f, WiDi, and it's a little portly compared to some competitors—particularly our desktop replacement Editors' Choice Samsung Series 7 (NP700Z5A-S03), which packs everything from a high-res screen to a backlit keyboard and hybrid hard drive into an elegantly slim, Laptop Battery for Asus u52f-bbl5, MacBook Pro-style chassis. But it offers powerful performance, along with an above-average keyboard and sound. If you're looking for a productivity and video editing solution, it deserves a look. This ain't no MacBook Air clone. Battery for Asus u53jc-a1,
Sure, the Dell XPS 13 ($999.99 direct) will be compared to the Battery for Asus u53, Apple MacBook Air 13-inch (Thunderbolt) ($1,299 direct, 4 stars), because all 13.3-inch ultrabooks are. But instead of building just another skinny aluminum wedge, Dell has lavished design and, dare we say it, craftsmanship on Intel's ultrabook concept. Battery for Asus u53f, The result stands with the Lenovo IdeaPad U300s ($1,495 direct, 4 stars) and Editors' Choice HP Folio 13 ($1,048.99 direct, 4 stars) as the status symbols of the category. And if you can forgive its skimpy port selection—really? not even a memory-card slot?—it Laptop Battery for Asus u53j, could be the most tempting of the lot.At 0.7 by 12.4 by 8.1 inches (HWD), the XPS 13 is one of the most compact ultrabooks—according to Dell, 14 percent smaller in volume than the MacBook Air 13-inch (Best Deal: $1,219.99 Battery for Asus u53jc, at MacConnection). |

The Apple iPad may rule the Asus a32-u31 , roost for tablet sales, but for users that want touch-screened convenience but need Windows—be it for reasons of software compatibility or merely OS familiarity—Asus has a new option, the Asus Eee Slate B121. With a laptop-grade processor, Asus a42-u31 , the Eee Slate B121 easily tops the Atom powered 32-bit tablets we've seen lately, but it may not top the Samsung Series 7 Slate (700T1A) ($1,349.99 direct, 4 stars), which uses more current technology. The 12-inch screen is covered with a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass to resist Asus U41JF-A1 Laptop Battery , scratches and cracks, while the multi-touch functionality lets you use either fingertips or a stylus to touch and tap your way around. The screen displays in 1280 by 800 resolution, letting you enjoy 720p video on the tablet or Asus U31SD-A1 Laptop Battery , connect up to an HDTV through the built-in mini HDMI port to enjoy 1080p content at full resolution. The screen also boasts a wide 178-degree viewing angle, which offers considerably better visibility than competing tablets.ASUS U36S(All) Laptop Battery ,
The Asus Eee Slate B121 is also equipped with two USB 2.0 ports, ASUS U36SD(All) Battery , an SD/MMC card reader, and a 2-in-1 jack for headphone and mic. Inside, the B121 is equipped with a Trusted Platform Module (TPM) embedded chip for the security needed by business users. Wireless options include 802.11n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 3.0. Asus K72F Battery , There's even a place to stow the stylus built right into the tablet chassis. The Asus Eee Slate B121 is equipped with a 64GB solid-state drive (SSD), the same size seen in competing tablets, like the drive seen in the Fujitsu Stylistic Q550 (Intel Atom Z690) ($999.99 direct, 4 stars). The Asus Eee Slate B121 is equipped with a first-generation Intel Core i5-470UM processor with Asus K72JR Battery , 2GB of RAM. It's the same 1.33GHz dual-core processor seen in last year's Lenovo IdeaPad U260, and offers a full-fledge 64-bit Windows 7 experience in a slim and touch-friendly tablet. Powering all of this is a 34Wh battery that Asus claims will provide 4:30 Asus K72DY Battery battery life. All in all, when we compare the specs of the Asus Eee Slate B121 with the myriad 32-bit Windows tablets we've seen lately, it looks pretty promising. If you're considering a desktop replacement laptop, there are certain realities that you'll have to accept that someone purchasing, say, an ultrabook, wouldn't consider. Asus K72DR Battery ,
Portability probably won't rank too high on your list of priorities, ASUS N71JV Battery because a large screen with a nice-sized keyboard will typically result in a heavier machine. That said, the 17.3-inch Toshiba Satellite P775D-S7144 ($729.99 list) is a budget desktop replacement that has plenty going for it, offering an array of ports, a spacious hard drive, ASUS N71J Battery , and a large 1,600 by 900-resolution LED-backlit display. Still, Blu-ray functionality and 1080p HD, as well as better battery performance, would have sealed the deal and nudged the P775D-S7144 (Best Deal: $698.00 at Walmart.com) from good to great.
The P775D's plastic chassis sports a hint of panache, decked out entirely in "Platinum Fusion X2 Finish," Asus N73JQ Battery with raised lines spanning the lid and palm rest. Though the "platinum" aesthetic may not be for everyone, the raised lines create a distinctive look while yielding a tactile, comfortable feel for the palm rest. Unfortunately, the plastic can get a bit flimsy, and results in a noticeable Asus ML31-1005 amount of flexing of the lid.
The keyboard's raised tile keys make for a comfortable typing experience, and it's generously sized, with an ample numeric keypad. Toshiba inexplicably chose to forego a backlit keyboard, so yes, you can type with ease—just not in the dark. ASUS K73E Battery
The thin sliver of light adorning the top of the touch pad is a nice cosmetic flourish, but it fails to add any trace Asus N73SV Battery of visibility in low-light environments. The touch pad also features multi-touch control that allows for pinch-zooming. While this sounds useful in theory, I found little need for it in terms of everyday computing. Something along the lines of two-finger ASUS Eee PC 1008 Battery , scrolling would have been far more practical. Media control buttons conveniently located above the keyboard provide easy access to the P775D's Wi-Fi settings and volume controls, though they emit a somewhat strident beep every time they're pushed, so proceed with ASUS Eee PC 1008HA-PU1X-Pi Battery best buy caution in public settings—you'll turn heads, but not necessarily in a good way.The P775D weighs 6.6 pounds, which is comparatively light to other laptops sporting 17.3-inch displays, like the HP Pavilion dv7-6b55dx ($699.99 list, 4 stars), which weighs 6.9 pounds, or the Editors' Choice HP Pavilion dv7-6163cl($949.99 list, 4 stars), which weighs 7.4 pounds. ASUS Eee PC 1008HA-PU1X-BK Battery The 17.3-inch, 720p-compatible display is easy on the eyes and perfectly suitable for everyday use, sporting vibrant color reproduction, above-average brightness, and a reflective glossy coating. Videophiles craving a truly superlative media experience, however, may be better off selecting a system with a 1080p display, such as the Editors' Choice HP Envy 17 (2012) ($1,484.99 direct, 4 stars),ASUS Eee PC 1008HA-PU17-WT Battery but a caveat: this feature is reflected in the Envy 17's considerably higher price tag.
There's certainly no shortage of ports on the P775D. It comes Asus X53E Battery equipped with three USB 2.0 ports conveniently located on both sides of the system. The left side of the laptop also sports the sole USB 3.0 port. Though a single USB 3.0 port may be inadequate for some, the P775D makes the most out of it, boasting Sleep and ASUS X44 Battery Charge capability that allows the port to charge any USB device, even if the laptop enters sleep mode. If you crave high definition on another screen, the HDMI port is your sole savior, as the P775D does not feature WiDi (Wireless Display). If you absolutely cannot tolerate dealing with HDMI cables, you'd be better off purchasing either ASUS X44L Battery , the Pavilion dv7-6b55dx or the Aspire TimelineX 5830TG-6614 ($779.99 list, 4 stars), though that won't immediately result in total wireless liberation—you'll still need to connect a Netgear Push2TV HD receiver ($99 list) to your external display. The multi-format media card reader ASUS X54 Battery , (SD/xD/Memory Stick) on the front of the laptop is an added convenience, so while you may be obliged to use an HDMI cable, at least you won't be forced to whip out your digital camera every time you want to upload photos.ASUS X54HY Battery ,
Built-in Harman/Kardon stereo speakers with Dolby Advanced Asus K50A battery Audio technology deliver crisp sound that doesn't distort at the highest levels, though the bass can be charitably characterized as effete regardless of the volume. Of course, the 3.5mm audio-out connector lets you plug the system into the speaker set of your choice. Asus K50C battery best buy There's no Blu-ray drive, but if Blu-ray capability is not absolutely essential to you, the tray-loading 8x DVD +/-RW drive is perfectly adequate, reading and writing DVDs with relative ease. The capacious 750GB (5,400 rpm) hard drive is loaded with Windows 7 Home Premium. Toshiba's 3D hard-drive impact sensor technology also protects your data by moving the drive head into a "safe" HP HSTNN-XB99 Charger position whenever the system detects vibration. It's a nice added touch that affords peace of mind despite the fact that laptops of this size generally aren't l***ed around on a daily basis. Be warned, though: When you set up the P775D for the first time, HP 587706-751 Charger you'll confront a considerable array of bloatware. In addition to the usual suspects (a trial of Norton Internet Security, toolbars, the WildTangent games suite, dedicated links to services like Amazon and Skype), Toshiba also included a copious amount of proprietary programs bearing its name. Their usefulness is dubious.HP 593572-001 Charger
The P775D sports a 1.6GHz AMD A8-3520M HP BQ350AA Charger quad-core processor and 6GB of DDR3 memory, a combination that fared somewhat poorly when compared to other laptops in the same price range. Its PCMark 7 score of 1,564 was considerably lower than that of the Pavilion dv7-6b55dx (2,406), the Asus K535D-DS51 ($779.99 street, 3 stars) (1,956), and the Acer 5830TG-6614 (2,388). HP HSTNN-CB1A Charger To be fair, each of those three laptops come equipped with faster CPUs, which explains why the P775D turned in the lowest score for the Cinebench R11.5 test (2.10) and the slowest times for the Photoshop CS5 test (7 minutes 11 seconds), and Handbrake multimedia test HP 434045-141 Charger (3:12).We've seen plenty of tablets that try to offer bigger screens, more features, and faster processing than other competitors, but the Archos 9 PCtablet just wants to give you your Internet and media in a handy portable form-factor. It may not wow you with impressive specs or slick design, but it delivers on the promise of portability, and is one of the cheaper HP 434045-621 Charger Windows tablets available today.
The Archos 9, design-wise, HP 4UR18650-2-7 Charger best buy is something of a throwback to the old UMPC designs seen a few years ago. The bezel around the 9-inch touchscreen is beefed up on the right and left edges, providing what are effectively handholds on either side of the screen. HP PP2182L Charger On these handholds you'll find physical controls for power, microphone, activating a virtual keyboard, a trackpoint mouse and right and left mouse buttons. You'll also find an integrated 1.3-Megapixel webcam. On the side is a single USB 2.0 port, and on the back of the HP PP2182D Charger chassis is a folding kickstand that props up the tablet for hands-free viewing.Measuring 5.4 by 10.1 by 0.67 inches (HWD), the Archos 9 isn't smaller than competing tablets (though it has a smaller 9-inch screen), but it does offer a lighter weight (1 pound) HP DM842A Charger and a lower price tag—you can find the Archos 9 new for under $400. For your money, however, you'll be getting a resistive touchscreen (instead of capacitive touch), and Wi-Fi, but no options for mobile broadband. The Archos 9 runs a 32-bit version of HP 345027-001 Charger Windows 7, with several programs designed around entertainment, like vTuner for internet radio and tv streaming, Microsoft Security Essentials for protection, and Lotus Symphony, an office suite. All of this software is found on the Archos 9's 32GB solid-state drive (SSD).HP 342661-001 Charger
The Archos 9 is powered by a 1.2GHz HP 434045-661 Charger Intel Atom Z515 processor, a three-year old piece of hardware, backed up by 1GB of RAM. Graphics are running on an equally outdated Poulsbo US15W chipset, which offers enough graphics horsepower for browsing the web, HP 438134-001 Charger not much more demanding than that. The Archos 9 PCtablet isn't a new device—it debuted alongside the original iPad—but new units can still be bought, and at deep discount. If you're in the market for an inexpensive HP 438518-001 Charger best buy Windows tablet, it's certainly affordable, but it won't stack up well against the newer Windows tablets on the market. If affordability takes precedence over ease of use and functionality, however, it may be just the tablet PC you're looking for.The Kupa X11 Pro Tablet ($799 direct) is the first product we've seen from Kupa America, but for its first product out of the gate, HP HSTNN-FB39 Charger Kupa makes a strong showing. The X11 Pro's Atom Z670 may not match the laptop-grade processor found in the Samsung Series 7 Slate (700T1A) ($1,349.99 direct, 4 stars), but it squeezes out HP HSTNN-IB39 Charger performance scores that top most similarly equipped tablets. Throw in a healthy collection of ports, a long-lasting battery, and a user interface that says "fingertips welcome," and you've got one of the better Windows tablets HP 338794-001 Charger we've reviewed. |

Thanks to Notebook Italia we now have real pictures and video of the HP dv6-7000 in the flesh. An HP product manager in Italy gave a tour of the Pavilion dv6-7000 to the site Eee PC 1008HA Battery and now we know exactly how this laptop looks:
HP Pavilion dv6-7000 Hands on
As originally detailed, the finish of the 2012 version of the Pavilion dv6 is AP32-1008HA all black on the lid and also the keyboard area, there’s a red Beats logo on the top right side of the keyboard as a design accent.HP isn’t messing around in terms of beefing up the speakers. They have four speakers on the top side of the dv6-7000 and a subwoofer U46E Battery on the bottom for extra bass. The headphone port is also shielded to prevent interference, so you can use an expensive pair of headphones to get an even better audio experience. As expected the HP representative confirmed that Intel Core i5 and Core i7 Ivy A42-U46 battery Bridge processors would be on board the dv6-7000. It was also confirmed that the graphics card for the base configuration will be the new Nvidia GT 630M. Although that’s not exactly a high-end performance card, there should be other options to configure. U46 Battery Storage offered will be up to 1TB using a regular hard disk and memory can be configured up to 8GB with 1600MHz of speed.Ports included are HDMI, USB 3.0, a media card reader, VGA out and Ethernet. There will be a 1.3MP web camera integrated into the screen along with a A32-U46 microphone. One factoid also revealed is that users will be able to remove the bottom panel of the laptop to access the hard drive and other slots without the use of tools. This is a carry over from the functionality on the current HP ENVY series. It’s nice to be able to easily make upgrades, and HP is helping out the end user by eliminating the need to remove screws or keyboards ASUS U46S Battery replacement to replace and upgrade parts.
According to the HP representative in Italy the U.S. ASUS U36(All) Battery should see these laptops show up to order next week on either April 8th or 9th via HP.com. Europe meanwhile will have to wait until the beginning of May.Information on Dell’s XPS 15 2012 update are beginning to emerge thanks to various leak sources on the web. The upcoming XPS 15 will carry the model number L521x and is expected to be released during Asus A53SV Battery the late April to early May time frame. The new model will of course have the latest Intel Ivy Bridge family of processors and also gets a design overhaul for 2012 that’s quite obviously inspired by the recently released XPS 13 Ultrabook. DELL Alienware M15x Charger The display will apparently be full HD (1920 x 1080 resolution) and have edge-to-edge Gorilla Glass and have a matte finish, again just like the XPS 13 Ultrabook. However, don’t get too excited about that matte finish because in our findings the Gorilla Glass layer adds the same amount of reflectivity as a glossy screen, DELL Alienware P08G Charger somewhat negating the benefits of the protection it adds.
In terms of design, the XPS 15 will have a matte black finish on the palm Aspire 5740 replacement battery rest areas and around the keyboard area. The keys will be black and somewhat shiny. The lid and sides will have a silver aluminum finish and bottom the same carbon fiber finish as the XPS 13. The thickness will reportedly be only 0.95”, which would be Aspire 5740G battery pretty incredible for a 15” performance laptop. The screen will be entirely covered with Gorilla Glass and have a thin bezel, giving it the old infinity look. Dell chose not to put a number pad on the l521x, again you’ll need to move up to the larger XPS Aspire 5735 battery 17 to get that. The touchpad will apparently have integrated mouse buttons and be made of glass, Apple can once again be flattered by imitation there. Frankly we’d rather have dedicated mouse buttons, but that’s passé apparently. The XPS l512x graphics Aspire 5750 Battery will be provided by an Nvidia GPU, likely the GT 630M for the base model and a more powerful Kepler based GT 640M with GDDR5 memory as an upgrade. You can see an analysis of Nvidia’s latest 600M graphics card lineup we did last week. Apparently the fastest Aspire 5750Z Battery Nvidia cards will be reserved for the larger XPS 17 l721x or the Alienware gaming lineup. At this point there’s not much left that we don’t know regarding the new XPS 15 except for the release date. So let’s give a full run down of the specs on the XPS l521x and then speculate on Aspire 5750ZG Battery release:
Since Intel is to officially announce Ivy Bridge at the end of April, it’s likely DELL Alienware M17x Charger we’ll see the new 2012 version of the XPS 15 around the late April to early May time frame. There’s no direct word on the XPS 17 as of yet, but the assumption would be that around the same time an XPS L721x 17” version would be announced with similar DELL Alienware M17x R3 Charger configuration optionsWe all know it’s essential to have an antivirus installed on your laptop, if you’re pl***ing into a network or using the Internet then your computer is at risk of getting infected with a virus, trojan worm, spyware, key logger, adware — the list goes on, but you get the point. But what happens when you’re on a budget and don’t have a dime to spare DELL Alienware M18x Charger let alone fork out another $50 for antivirus software that, oh by the way, you have to renew every year so is an ongoing cost. The tablet is delivered with a cover 70NLF1B2000Z of synthetic leather. The cover is cheap and at first, it smells bad. Gigabyte has announced three more accessories for this model: a keyboard, an additional battery and a docking station. The docking station will not be sold in Germany and is 90-NLF1B2000Y thus not tested in this review. The keyboard can be connected to the test device with the USB port and is delivered with a case for the tablet and the keyboard. Gigabyte also offers a secondary battery (70 Euros) which can be connected to the 90-NLF1B2000Z test model at the bottom and extends the runtime by two hours. Gigabyte hast installed a mouse replacement in the tablet. This is composed of a small round surface on the right side of the screen and two mouse keys on the left side. The round point responds very nicely to touch 90-NLF1BZ000Y just like a touchpad, and makes holding the tablet with both hands and moving the cursor very easy. This unusual system has a few disadvantages. The surface is small which means that large movements of the cursor will take some time. 90-NLF1BZ000Z The thumb can easily slip on to the touchscreen while pushing the cursor to the left and move the cursor unintentionally. Finally, the touch surface does not always translate the input properly: sometimes the cursor moves in the opposite direction or 90-NVD1B1000Y suddenly jerks forward.
Due to the poor input devices Asus A8Sc Charger of this test model, the user will have to consider alternatives. As the keyboard for this model will be hard to find with a German layout, we recommend the keyboards of third party manufacturers. A (wireless) mouse and keyboard can be connected to the tablet via USB or Asus A8M Charger Bluetooth. The tablet has an anti-glare 10.1 inch display with a 16:10 format and a resolution of 1024x600 pixels. The display has a maximum brightness of 160 cd/m2 and on average is only 148 cd/m2 bright. This is far too dark for a mobile tablet as even a Asus A8Le Charger brightness of 200 cd/m2 would only barely make the screen legible in sunlight. Sadly, this poor brightness means that the display content will not be recognizable in bright surroundings. The display is darkest in the top corners and gets brighter near the middle Asus A8Jv Charger and the bottom. The 88% distribution of brightness is not bad and the black value of 0.95 cd/m2 is average. Once again, due to the poor brightness the contrast is a meager 163:1. Asus A8Js Charger
Outdoor use of this tablet is Acer Aspire 4741Z Battery not recommended as the low brightness makes it a challenge to read anything off the screen. This is a big disadvantage for a portable device as the user should have the freedom to use it on-the-go without having to worry about lighting conditions. Acer Aspire 4741ZG Battery A cheap display is expected to have restricted viewing angles. The content on-screen will change dramatically (inverting of colors, drop in brightness, etc) at even the slightest deviation in the viewing angle. The tablet also gets visibly darker and black turns to light grey. Acer Aspire 4741ZG-P602G50Mnkkc Battery This annoying flaw will affect the use of the tablet significantly as the device will not always be held perfectly in the hand. The 625s is a r***ed, shock-absorbing design ideal for sports or traveling. It comes with a waterproof bag, and comes with a USB flashlight built in. The aircraft-grade aluminum model Braven 650 is offers portability and the industry-leading aptX and AAC audio encoding. Acer Aspire 4741ZG-P622G50Mnkk03 Battery And the similarly outfitted Braven 600 comes in Ash Grey or Moab Red. Across all three you can daisy chain multiple speakers together to get even more sound. The Braven Six series speakers are available for pre-order now and will ship at the end of June.
Unless you're an international spy or an amateur sleuth, you'd be forgiven if you didn't know where Acer Aspire 4743 Battery to turn in picking out the perfect spy cam.
The tablet has a dual core Acer Aspire 4755G Battery CPU from the Intel Atom line-up. The Atom N570 runs the test model alongside the graphics chip, the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 3150. The latter supports DirectX up to version 9c. The tablet also holds 2 GB DDR3 RAM and a standard 320 GB HDD which operates at 5400 rpm. This is the classic netbook configuration. Acer Aspire 4755 Battery The performance of the test model is calculated with the Cinebench R10 benchmark. This benchmark renders a 3D image for a set period of time. Sadly, the CPU of this test model could not keep up with its twin (same specifications) in the Asus Eee PC 1015PX. Acer Aspire 4752ZG Battery The EEE PC scored 1654 points with all its cores whereas the Gigabyte test model lagged behind at 1361 points. The Dell Latitude ST-LST01 has a weaker processor and could only score 759 points.
In the PCMark 7 test we measure the overall system performance in various scenarios. The Gigabyte test model scores 580 points - a lot less than the Acer Aspire 4752Z Battery Dell Latitude ST-LST01 which scored 830 points. The Dell tablet can take the lead despite its weaker CPU thanks to its SSD. Subjectively, the program performance is not sufficient for the demanding Windows 7 operating system. The tablet takes very long to turn on or off and it is equally slow while opening programs or surfing on the web. These loading times Acer Aspire 4752G Battery will kill the joy of using this tablet quickly.
The Intel GMA 3150 SAMSUNG N143-DP01 Battery graphics chip is intended for everyday use: Office or surfing the web. This chip is far too weak for picture/video editing or playing games. A short test revealed that the low resolution display could play a Full HD video quite well. It only freezes from time to time.
The tablet remains cool in the left region and in the right region it can warm up to 36 °C while idle. SAMSUNG N143(All) Battery The Gigabyte S1080 can heat up to 40 °C under load. This is the threshold value for comfortable use of a tablet in the hands. In our stress test, we ran the CPU and the graphics chip through a demanding ordeal (full load) for more than a hour. SAMSUNG NT-N150P Battery This test determines if the CPU can deliver full performance over long periods of time or if the tablet heats up so much that the CPU automatically slows down to compensate. The cooling system did not do well in this test. After a short while, the CPU starts throttling strongly (clock lower than base clock). The CPU heats up to 100 °C and is at its limits. SAMSUNG NT-N150 Battery The clock speed falls to 500 MHz and can only deal with easy tasks. The stereo speakers are acceptable. They are quite loud and produce clear sound which lacks bass, but will be enough for watching small clips. SAMSUNG NP-N150P Battery
The power consumption is relatively low: idle - 11 W. The power 90NLF1B2000Y consumption under load is only slightly higher - 16 W. This is probably because the tablet performance only increases slightly. The battery is Lithium-Polymer. In contrast to most Lithium-Ion batteries, this model has a higher energy density and is lighter than the 90NLF1B2000Z Lithium-Ion batteries with the same capacity. The battery has a capacity of 30 Wh - decent for a low power device like this. The longest possible battery life is measured using the Reader's test of the Battery Eater tool. The tablet can not reach 5 hours even 90NLF1BZ000Y with the brightness set to minimum, power-saving mode and WLAN off. The higher performance Samsung Slate PC can reach up to 7 hours while idle. The runtime while surfing with via wifi is much more important. The brightness is set to 150 cd/m2 90NLF1BZ000Z (highest level) and we use wifi to surf the web. The tablet survives for three hours and 19 minutes in this test. This will impose a limit on the use of the device on-the-go. Of course, the display is far too dark, so outdoor use will be a problem Asus A8Jp Charger either way.
The shortest runtime is measured with the Battery Eater Asus A8Jr Charger Classic test. This test renders a 3D object will all modules on and settings all set to maximum. The Gigabyte S1080 lasted slightly longer than the Samsung Series 7, but only because the Samsung model delivers increased performance under load. Let's start with the pros Acer Aspire 4743G Battery : the case is resistant even though it looks a bit cheap. The connectivity is extensive and scores thanks to its variety. The tablet only lacks a HDMI interface. The matte display will not be the source of disturbing reflections and the power consumption is very Acer Aspire 4743Z Battery low.Now to the cons: the software for starting programs is useless and does not run fluidly. The provided accessories are few and the synthetic leather cover is cheap and smells bad. The touchscreen is not well calibrated and the touchpoint is a nice idea but it fails too Acer Aspire 4743ZG Battery often for comfortable use.The display is far too dark. This means that the test model can not be used outdoors or in bright surroundings. The viewing angles are limited and the colors seem dull and washed out. Acer Aspire 4750 Battery The performance of CPU and hard disk is not enough for a fluid experience in Windows 7. Overall, the tablet is not fun to use due to its various flaw and this gives the Apple and Android tablets a clear advantage.Acer Aspire 4750G Battery
The Gigabyte S1080 is quite loud as the fan runs at audible levels even while the device is idle. Acer Aspire 4750Z Battery The battery life is not poor but a mere three hours of surfing via wifi is not great. This table can perhaps fill a small niche - tablets which serve as netbook replacements with attached input devices from third-party manufacturers. Acer Aspire 4750ZG Battery The high price of this model will scare off most buyers who are looking for a device to fill this niche. The Dell Latitude ST-LST01 is available for the same price and offers a better system performance in Windows 7 and a better display. Buyers with deeper pockets should take a look at the Samsung Series 7 XE700T1A-H01DE. This high-quality tablet will cost twice as much as our test model. Acer Aspire 4752 Battery Unfortunately, the Gigabyte S1080 has too many flaws, and as such we can not recommend it. It is an interesting idea that the Samsung 305E7A uses to win buyers: A quad core processor built in a matte 17 inch case together with a crossfire graphics solution. That sounds like a high-performance multimedia bundle, and what's more, Samsung NP-NC310 Battery at a very attractive price.
Unfortunately, the notebook looses important points in the first meters. SAMSUNG N150 Battery The stability of the light plastic case is disappointing. Also, the lack of a USB 3.0 port might deter the one or other buyer. However, we have to make allowances for the manufacturer since a few contenders exhibit similar flaws. We liked the excellent input devices a SAMSUNG N150P Battery lot more. Both the keyboard as well as the touchpad make a high-end impression and almost eliminate the need for connecting external peripherals. Office-related matters, such as the low noise development, the matte screen and the good application performance, generally belong to the notebook's strengths. Those who only look at the SAMSUNG N150 Plus Battery 3DMark scores could say something similar about the 3D performance. However, disturbing micro-stutters frequently ruin gaming fun in real life and crossfire partly doesn't work at all. In these cases, the 305E7A only finds itself on a level with slow SAMSUNG NP-N150 Battery entry-level models. |

The rest of the Toughbook's Satellite T210D Battery configuration includes an Intel Core i5-2520M CPU, 4GB of DDR3 SDRAM and integrated Intel HD 3000 graphics. It's a notebook that will easily run most office applications and the CPU will provide enough grunt so that the notebook Satellite T215D Battery doesn't feel sl***ish when multitasking. In our Blender 3D rendering test, the Toughbook took 51sec to complete our workload, which isn't the fastest we've seen from a notebook with a Core i5-2520M CPU — for example, the Satellite T230 Battery Toshiba Portege R830 took 40sec to complete this task using the same CPU. But the Toughbook is not purely about speed, it's about providing a notebook that can run field applications (and multiple ones simultaneously) without slowing you down. In 3DMark06, the unit scored 3118, which is respectable for a unit with integrated graphics.Satellite T235 Battery You won't want to use this laptop too often for typing, and you especially won't want to use it for long typing sessions. Its keyboard is very cramped due to the 10.1in form factor and there are keys in awkward positions, such as the arrow keys, which are in non-standard positions. It's fair to say that we've reviewed netbooks that have been more Satellite T235D Battery comfortable to type on than this Toughbook. Likewise, the touchpad on this notebook requires a fair bit of pressure to move the pointer across the screen accurately and it's very small; these characteristics make it tiring to use for extended NB505 Battery periods of time.
The small size of the Portege R400 Tablet PC Battery unit makes it uncomfortable to use, especially for long periods of time. It's important to note that if the Toughbook is being used heavily for extended periods of time, it will get very hot. There are no noticeable vents to keep the innards Qosmio F45 Battery cool and all the heat generated by the CPU and the other components will eventually be felt through the chassis. At some points during our tests we feared the notebook might overheat, but it kept running normally, even while it was very hot. Qosmio F40 Battery The manual states that it can operate in temperatures up to 50 degrees Celsius and with 80 per cent humidity (and down to -10 degrees and 30 per cent humidity). As for battery life, this unit lasted us 3hr 28min in our rundown test, in which we disable power management, Satellite L40 Battery enable Wi-Fi, maximise screen brightness and loop an Xvid-encoded video. This is a decent result for a Core i5 laptop, but perhaps a little low considering the small screen. The screen itself doesn't look great in terms of colour reproduction and richness — it's very pale. Equium L40 Battery The Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6205 Wi-Fi adapter supports 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks, and there is a mobile broadband module installed (F5521gw) so that you can get online independently of Wi-Fi or your mobile phone Mini NB505 Battery hotspot.
Overall, the Panasonic Vostro 3350 Battery Toughbook CF-19 is perhaps a little too small to be practical. Its keys are small and the keyboard cramped overall, and its touchpad can be tiring to use. It could perhaps use an 11.6in or 12.1in form factor, which would make it a little more comfortable. inspiron 1440 Battery Or, you could opt for the CF-31, which has a 13.1in screen, although it lacks the ability to be converted into a tablet. If the size of the unit doesn't bother you, and you just want a tablet-convertible notebook that will stand up to the elements while you use Inspiron 1750 Battery it in the field, then go for it.The Toshiba Portégé Z830-104 is not going to win any beauty contests. We thought this business version of the Toshiba Satellite Z830 to be the least attractive of the ultrabooks we've tested recently, saved only from last place by the Lenovo X1.
Alienware M11x Battery However, there is much to admire in the Toshiba Portégé Z830-104, the only ultrabook we've seen to sport full-sized ethernet, VGA and HDMI ports. It might not have the best definition screen - it’s a little fuzzy around the edges when compared to the display of the Alienware M11x R3 Battery MacBook Air - but it does have a genuinely non-reflective finish. There's plenty more to like about the Toshiba Portégé Z830-104, too. There's a fingerprint reader for additional security and the keyboard, in general, is a pleasure to use - though we were frustrated by the size of the Return key, Alienware M14x Battery which is too small.
The touchpad is Alienware M15x Battery smaller than those offered by most others in this group test but is easy to turn on and off, meaning that should you choose to use a mouse, then you'll not have to worry about knocking the cursor accidentally when typing. In terms of performance, the Toshiba Portégé Alienware P08G Battery Z830-104 is neither lightning fast nor painfully slow. And the battery life is decent without being outstanding. But the main differentiation point of the Toshiba Portégé Z830-104 is the multitude of connectivity options – the full-sized HDMI and VGA Inspiron Mini 1018 Battery ports for hooking up to monitors and projectors, and three USB ports too, one of them USB 3.0. Built-in gigabit ethernet makes connecting to wired networks easier than fumbling with USB adaptors, and faster too. Laptops with 14in screens are relatively Vostro 3555 Battery unusual in our part of the world, where 15in laptops are king. In Asian and Far Eastern markets, though, the 14in laptop is massively popular.
Related ArticlesBut if there ever was a 14in model to excite a western audience, the Dell XPS 14z is Vostro 3750 Battery surely it.Taking plenty of inspiration from Apple's MacBook Pro, the design of the XPS 14z is modern, stylish and robust. The anodized aluminium chassis looks smart and the rounded edges add to the sleek Vostro 3550 Battery appearance.
When it’s opened up you'll find a backlit keyboard that VGP-BPS23/B offers plenty of room for even the most inaccurate of typists, while still fitting in large speakers either side. We had a minor issue with the keyboard; the keys’ font, though modern, doesn't seem quite in keeping with the rest of the design.Looking up from the VGPBPS23/B keyboard, you'll spot what is probably the Dell's real achilles heel - its screen. The 1366 x 768 resolution is meagre in comparison to other models - the XPS 15z we tested had 1920 x 1080 resolution - but definition is reasonably sharp and clear. VGP-BPL23 The colours look washed out, but it’s the glare from the glossy display that really irritated us. Reflective screens do not equate to comfortable use in most normal lighting conditions. But we did appreciate how it takes up almost the whole width of the chassis, so you're not left with a VGPBPL23 wastefully wide bezel. This means that the 14in screen can be fitted in to a chassis that's only 10mm wider than the 13in MacBook Air.The diminuitive frame and weight of just under 2kg mean that the XPS 14z is easy to carry around, even if it is far from attaining VGP-BPS23 'ultraportable' status. It should stand up to a battering if you do spend a lot of time on the road, though, and we're sure it'd be able to take the odd bump in its stride. The screen hinge looks particularly VGPBPS23 robust.
Blessed with a VGPBPS23/D second-generation Intel Core i7 processor, the 2.8GHz i7-2640M with Turbo Boost 2.0 technology (to push it to 3.5GHz when needed), and 8GB of RAM, the XPS 14z has more power than you can shake a stick at. A WorldBench 6 score of 143 is highly creditable, VGP-BPS23/D and though the nVidia GeForce GT 520M graphics card could only hit average frame rates of 46fps in FEAR at maximum settings - far from the best score we've seen - this is still quite respectable. For entertainment purposes, the lo-res screen and absence VGPBPS23/G of Blu-ray drive means HD video is not on the cards. Sound quality is pretty good though. It's more of an all-rounder that will offer decent performance and a good turn of speed in any task you should choose to set for it, rather than an out-and-out gaming, multimedia or VGP-BPS23/Gwork-focused laptop. The Dell has got a very capacious battery, lasting nearly 7 hours (406 mins) in our MobileMark 2007 Productivity tests. Given the quality and power of components this battery has to support, this is impressive. Connectivity options are decent, VGPBPS23/P with two USB ports - one of thee USB 3.0 - located at the back of the unit, as well as HDMI, Mini DisplayPort and gigabit ethernet. On the left-hand side you'll find a mic input and headphone jack as well as a multi-format card VGP-BPS23/P reader.
Lenovo's IdeaPad Yoga 70NLF1B2000Y is one of the more intriguing products to be announced this year and we got some hands on time at the Gadget Show Live 2012.The Yoga is a hybrid device and named because of its flexible nature. Rather than following the example of Asus' Transformer Prime - 70-NLF1B2000Z a tablet which plugs into a keyboard dock to make it a laptop, the IdeaPad Yoga is a laptop with a touchscreen which folds into a tablet.Lenovo has designed the device to be used in four different usage modes or positions called notebook, tablet, 70-NLF1B2000Y tent and stand. We spent a few minutes at Samsung NP-N310-KA01NL Battery CES 2012 with this new Chronos and liked what we saw–and heard. Check out our hands-on video and photo gallery below.Above the keyboard on the left side you’ll see that the Series 7 Chronos 17-inch has a JBL speaker system, and the notebook has a subwoofer down below for supplying extra audio oomph. When we fired up a couple of tracks in Samsung NP-N310-KA01UK Battery the middle of the very noisy Las Vegas Convention Center, we could easily hear the speakers.
One of the best features of the Chronos 17-inch is its SuperBright display, which has a matte finish and full 1080p resolution. The backlit keyboard was comfy, Samsung NP-N310-KA03 Battery and the clickpad huge and smooth to operate. All in all, the Series 7 Chronos 17-inch looks like it could be the premium desktop replacement of choice for media mavens. It doesn’t have aluminum all the way around–and we don’t know how much battery life it will offer–but for a grand less than the 17-inch MacBook Pro, it looks pretty solid.Editors’ Note: The video incorrectly states the Samsung NP-N310-KA03PL Battery Chronos has Nvidia graphics.
Click to EnlargeThe Latitude Samsung NP-N310-KAO1FR Battery E6420 XFR's 14-inch matte HD 1366 x 768 Direct Vue display is super bright with rich, vivid colors. We were impressed with how well the 654-lux display--well above most notebooks, which average about 200 lux--maintained its brightness and color integrity in direct sunlight. We were taken with the deep golden hues and milky jades when watching a DVD of Aeon Flux. However, Samsung NP-N310-KA07US Battery we did notice some graininess, which detracted somewhat from the viewing experience. For an additional $500, the display can come equipped with a resistive touch screen. Unlike with capacitive touch screens, you're limited to one- and two-finger input, Samsung NP-N310-KA06US Battery and then only for activities such as selecting text. Still, this also means that you can use this Dell in the field while wearing gloves. Using the small attached stylus, we were able to highlight text in documents and websites. It wasn't as accurate as we Samsung NP-N310-KA06US Battery would have liked, as the stylus would also highlight either the line above or below our intended line. However, we were able to recalibrate the display using the eGalaxTouch utility.Samsung NP-N310-KA06ES Battery
The E6420 XFR's Dell YF976 speakers are located on the bottom front lip of the system. We were forced to crank the volume to maximum just to be able to hear the dialogue in Aeon Flux. However, music playback was better. The notebook delivered clear, rich audio on Rihanna's "Talk That Talk," including Dell U4873 crisp snares and claps during a synthesized instrumental. Rihanna's unique vocals were clear and lilting, as were Jay-Z's braggadocious rhymes. The notebook also has a Stealth mode, which shuts off audio and the keyboard backlight while dimming the Dell G5266 screen--perfect for maintaining cover in a potentially hostile situation.
Click to EnlargeAs mentioned above, all the ports on the E6240 are protected by gasket-sealed metal doors that keep moisture and dust from entering. On the right, one large door covers two USB 2.0 ports, an ExpressCard/54 slot, Dell G5260 a Wi-Fi radio switch, and the tray-loading DVD burner. On PCMark07, a synthetic test that measures Samsung NP-N310-KA03UK Battery overall performance, the E6420 XFR scored 4,147, nearly double the 2,238 mainstream laptop category average. During the OpenOffice benchmark, the notebook matched 20,000 names to their corresponding addresses in 4 minutes and 43 seconds, much faster than the 6:56 mainstream average.A lot of the E6420 XFR's speed comes Samsung NP-N310-KA04 Battery from its 128GB solid state drive, which loaded the 64-bit version of Windows 7 Professional in a smoking 35 seconds. That's 26 seconds faster than the 0:61 category average. On our File Transfer Test, the E6420 XFR duplicated 4.97GB of mixed-media files in 59 Samsung NP-N310-KA04ES Battery seconds, a transfer rate of 86.2 MBps. That's more than double the 30.1 MBps category average and the V100's 56.5 MBps. With its Intel HD Graphics 3000 GPU, the Latitude E6420 XFR can handle HD movies and play mainstream games at a reasonable clip. On 3DMark06, a benchmark that measures overall graphics performance, the E6420 XFR scored 5,926, well above the 4,748 mainstream Samsung NP-N310-KA04UK Battery category average.
In our World of Warcraft test,Samsung NP-N310-KA05US Battery this Dell Latitude notched a playable 40 fps frame rate. However, the category average is 63 fps. Our $5,612 review unit Dell C5974 came equipped with a 2.7-GHz Intel Core i7-2620M CPU, 6GB of RAM, a 128GB SSD, and Intel HD Graphics 3000. Our unit also featured a touchscreen display (a $500 option), backlit rubber keyboard ($199), and fingerprint reader ($29). The $4,532 Dell C5447 base model features a 2.5-GHz Intel Core i5-2520M with 3GB of RAM, a 128GB SSD, and Intel HD 3000 GPU. The $4,577 and $4,832 versions of the E6420 have 4GB and 6GB of RAM, respectively.Adding Nvidia NVS4200M discrete graphics costs $40, Dell 312-0455 while upgrading to a 256GB SSD will run $700. Those who need extra connectivity options can opt for a built-in GPS module ($449), as well as integrated mobile broadband. AT&T HSPA and EVDO cards cost $125, while built-in 4G LTE Dell 312-0425 goes for $249.

The only thing that keeps this tank of a laptop from earning our Editors' Choice award is its above-average running temperature. Some may prefer the Panasonic Toughbook 31, which offers Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Pi2550 Battery a sealed all-weather design that can also handle 6-foot drops. However, the Toughbook doesn't have a Core i7 option like the Dell and it weighs over a pound more despite featuring a smaller 13-inch screen. While the $5,612 price is steep, the E6420 XFR is an Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Xi2428 Battery excellent choice for the military, those who work on oil rigs, or anyone looking for a highly durable, high-performance notebook for field use. When it comes to laptops, 2012 is the year of the Ultrabook. Designed to compete against the MacBook Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Xi2528 Battery Air but also tablets, Ultrabooks are superthin, resume from sleep almost instantly, and last nearly all day on a charge. And with second-generation Intel Core processors under the hood—and a new CPU explicitly designed for Ultrabooks on the way—shoppers should expect top-level performance.Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Xi2550 Battery
Windows PC shoppers already FUJITSU LifeBook T580 Tablet PC Battery have a fair number of MacBook Air alternatives from which to choose, but in 2012 we’ll see lower prices and a wider range of sizes. An Ultrabook is a fundamental step forward in notebook design,” said Greg Welch, Director of the On-the-Go Market Segment for Intel’s Mobile Client Platforms group. “We think that with a variety of OEMs taking a FUJITSU LifeBook T580 Battery variety of approaches, there’s just more choice, there’s more competition, economies of scale get going. If you go to Best Buy’s site right now you’ll see Ultrabooks already listed as a category, which tells you how important this segment is for Intel, retailers, and anyone who Dell 0R160 makes a laptop. In fact, Intel started a $300 million fund just to jumpstart the Ultrabook ecosystem. The first Ultrabooks we reviewed fell a little flat because they cut too many corners. The Acer Aspire S3, for example, had a somewhat chintzy plastic body, while the Asus Zenbook UX31 had an amazingly attractive design marred by an erratic Dell 310-6322 touchpad.
Since then, however, we’ve seen a Dell 312-0339 steady improvement. The Toshiba Portege Z835 delivers fantastic value at just $849, while the HP Folio 13 impresses with extra-long battery life and a comfy backlit keyboard for $900.
One of the best things about an iPad is that you can just pick it up, Dell 312-0349 turn it on, and start using the device immediately. And that’s exactly what Intel and its partners are trying to mirror with Ultrabooks, most of which feature highly responsive solid state drives. And because Ultrabooks are highly portable, you can just slip it out of a bag and start working—without having Dell 312-0350 to hunt for an outlet. |

There isn’t much room for ports on the Series 9, laptop Battery Replacement but Samsung packs in a USB 3.0 port, microHDMI and an Ethernet adapter on the left, and a USB 2.0, mini VGA and a headphone port on the right. Also on the right is an SD card slot protected by a spring-loaded door. It’s a much more elegant method of maintaining acer Charger Replacement the curved sides of the Series 9 than resorting to plastic flaps that get in the way.Inside the Samsung Series 9 is a quad-core 1.7-GHz Intel Core i7-2637M processor, 4GB of RAM and a 128GB Samsung SSD, which returned very good results for an ultraportable. On PCMark07, which measures overall performance, the Series 9’s score of 3,653 was about 1,300 apple Charger Replacement points above the ultraportable average, and on par with the UX31 (3,606; 1.7-GHz Core i5) and the MacBook Air (1.7-GHz Core i5; 3,663). On Geekbench, the Series 9 did even better, scoring 6,024 to the MacBook Air’s 5,860 and the UX31’s 4,680.The Series 9 booted Windows 7 Home Premium in a fast 33 seconds, which is about half the asus Charger Replacement category average (56 seconds), but a bit behind the MacBook Pro (17 seconds), the Toshiba Portege Z835 (21 seconds) and the HP Folio 13 (26 seconds). Still, it woke from sleep in less than 3 seconds, which is on par with other dell Charger Replacement Ultrabooks.
It took just 5 minutes and 36 seconds for the Series 9 to churn through the Acer Aspire 4625 Battery LAPTOP Spreadsheet Macro Test, in which we use OpenOffice calc to match 20,000 names with their addresses. That’s almost half the category average (9:44), and beats out the MacBook Air (6:16), UX31 (5:50) and the Toshiba Z835 (11:36).Acer Aspire 4733Z Battery Only the Lenovo IdeaPad U300s (5:05) was faster. As an SSD, the 128GB drive in the Series 9 was good, but not great. It duplicated 5GB of multimedia files in 1 minute and 17 seconds, a rate of 66.1 MBps. That’s comfortably above the category average (41 MBps),Acer Aspire 4738 Battery but well below the UX31 (98 MBps) and the MacBook Air (127 MBps).
The Intel HD graphics inside the Series 9 performed pretty much as expected, delivering enough power for watching videos and photo and video editing, but not enough for mainstream games. On 3DMark06, the Series 9 scored 3,931, which is better than the category average of 3,114, and the UX31 (3,731), Acer Aspire 4738G Battery but below the MacBook Air (4,236).
On World of Warcraft, Acer Aspire 4741G-5464G50Mn Battery with the display set to 1366 x 768 and graphics on their recommended setting, the Series 9 averaged 34 frames per second. That’s on par with most other Ultrabooks (the Toshiba Z835 averaged 32 fps and the UX31 averaged 26 fps), but below the MacBook Air (59 fps) and the category average (40 fps). At its native resolution and effects at max, Acer Aspire 4741G-5462G50Mnkk05 Battery the Series 9’s average dropped to an unplayable 13 fps.Aside from its clickpad, the one area where we hope Samsung improves the Series 9 is its battery life. On the LAPTOP Battery Test (web surfing via Wi-Fi at 40-percent brightness), Acer Aspire 4741G-5452G50Mnkk04 Battery the Series 9 lasted just 4 hours and 48 minutes, nearly 2 hours below the category average (6:36), the MacBook Air (6:25) and the Toshiba Z835 (6:48), not to mention the HP Folio 13 (7:50). Worse, that was about half an hour less than the original Series 9 (5:11).Considering that the Series 9 has a brighter panel than its competitors, Acer Aspire 4741G-432G50Mnkk01 Battery we also re-ran the battery test with the brightness set to 10 percent (about 34 lux), which was roughly equal to the MacBook Air at 40-percent brightness. Even then, the Series 9 lasted just 5:36.
There’s not too much in the way of Acer Aspire 4741G-372G50Mnkk06 Battery software on the Series 9. Utilities include Samsung Easy Settings, which, as the name implies, let us tweak things such as power settings, network, and audio controls. A customizable Software Launcher dock can be activated at the bottom of the screen, providing shortcuts to apps and utilities. It’s relatively unobtrusive, but we can see it taking up too much real Acer Aspire 4741G-372G50Mnkk02 Battery estate on a lower-res display.Preinstalled third-party apps include Microsoft Office 2010, Norton Online Backup and Internet Security and Skype.
With the second edition of the Series 9, Samsung has improved upon the original in multiple ways. Acer Aspire 4741G-332G50Mn Battery More important, it’s smaller and lighter than the MacBook Air, and it boasts a better display and audio. We only hope that Samsung improves the clickpad performance and battery life by the time this notebook hits the market in February. Acer Aspire 4741G-332G32Mnsk Battery Both would have to improve significantly before we’d recommend paying $200 more than Apple’s ultraportable.Samsung is attacking the MacBook Air–and the rest of the Ultrabook field–with two new Series 5 Ultra laptops at CES 2012: a 13-incher that starts at $899 and a 14-incher that includes an optical drive. Available starting January 30th,Dell 310-5195 the Series 5 notebooks don’t offer the same premium features as Samsung’s flagship ultraportable, but you do get high-quality aluminum designs, Core i5 power and bright 300-nit displays with a nice matte (glare-free) Dell 312-0068 finish.
Read on to get all the Dell W1605 details and check out our extensive gallery and hands-on video below. The Samsung Series 5 Ultra has a smooth and sleek aluminum finish and a design that eschews the clickpad in favor of a touchpad with dedicated mouse buttons. We’re not complaining, since many of them are hit or miss. Dell U1544 While the keyboard isn’t backlit, the layout has more travel than the thinner Series 9. The 13-inch Samsung Series 5 Ultra weighs 3.24 pounds, while the 14-inch model weighs 3.94 pounds. Each notebook features a 1366 x 768 display, Dell G2053A01 but only the 14-inch Ultra includes a slim DVD drive for those who want it.To keep the cost down Samsung equips the Series 5 Ultra with a hybrid hard drive, which includes 500GB of storage and 16GB of ExpressCache memory. That memory helps the notebooks Dell G2053 boot in 20 seconds and wake from sleep in 2 seconds. Samsung even promises quicker web browsing via Internet Explorer, which we can’t wait to test out. Both Series 5 Ultras are rated for up to 7 hours of battery life. Viva la netbook! As we mentioned earlier today,Dell C2603 ASUS is releasing new netbooks at CES 2012 and we had the chance to check out two of them, the Eee PC Flare 1025C and the Eee PC Dell C1295 X101CH.
The Eee PC Flare 1025C Toshiba Satellite P500-024 Battery continues the 10.1-inch netbook tradition with a 6-cell battery that ASUS says will last up to 10 hours in mixed-mode, meaning a combination of web surfing, YouTube watching and productivity applications, and two weeks in standby. Though it weighs 2.7 Toshiba Satellite P500-025 Battery pounds, the system felt light in our hands and with a slim profile– but nothing as impressive as the company’s Zenbooks. Though we weren’t able to turn the system on, the keyboard felt roomy enough and similar to ASUS’s more recent netbook keyboards. Toshiba Satellite P500-026 Battery For $299, the Eee PC Flare 1025C comes with a 1.6- GHz Atom Cedar Trail processor, 2GB RAM, 320GB hard drive and Altec Lansing speakers. As you’ll see in our gallery below, it’s available in a wide-array of colors Toshiba Satellite P500-12D Battery and finishes.
ASUS also debuted the Eee PC X101CH, Toshiba Satellite P500-12F Battery which features 2-second instant resume and, in spite of its 3-cell battery, two weeks of standby time. It features the same Intel Atom Cedar Trail processor as the Flare 1025C, 1GB of RAM, and a 320GB hard drive for $269. It’s also 0.4 pounds lighter than the Flare,Toshiba Satellite P500-14L Battery though we barely noticed the weight difference. The X101CH doesn’t look as refined as the Flare; its black plastic bottom was an instant contrast to its deep red lid. It’s not thick, but the profile of the machine isn’t as thin as the Flare either.ASUS pulled back the curtains on a number of updates to a few of its core products. One is the ASUS Transformer Prime TF700T. Acer Aspire 4738Z Battery The upscaled version of last year’s Transformer Prime TF201 has all the slim, quad-core Tegra 3 goodness of the previous model, but adds a 1920 x 1200p display and support for 1080p playback. The tablet’s rear has undergone a redesign. The majority of the back panel is done Acer Aspire 4738ZG Battery in aluminum leaving a thick strip of plastic lining the top. The new look has more to do with function than aesthetics, however, as ASUS claims the new look will improve Wi-Fi and GPS performance. The front-facing camera received a bump from 1.2 to 2 megapixels. Acer Aspire 4739 Battery The biggest change is that the updated Prime will ship with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich out of the box.
The Zenbook has also Acer Aspire 4741G Battery gotten a makeover. While none of the specs have changed, ASUS has released two new color schemes based on customer requests. The gorgeous 13-inch UX31 is now available in Rose Gold and Hot Pink. The biggest update, though, is the touchpad. The original Zenbook Acer Aspire 4741 Battery featured a Sentelic-powered touchpad that presented a number of difficulties, including stuttering and unexplainable jumpiness. The new models will feature Elan touchpads with updated drivers that ASUS claims will improve resume and standby times.Acer Aspire 4739Z Battery The 32GB Transformer Prime TF700T is set to hit stores during the second quarter of the year, retailing at $599. The 64GB version will be priced at $699. No word on pricing or availability on the new Zenbook, but stay tuned for more coverage. Dell 312-0408 In the meantime, check out our gallery below.Taiwan-based Gigabyte Technology sure made its trek out to Vegas a productive one; the company has five new products on display at CES 2012. Among them are an Intel Atom-powered slate, a 3-in-1 tablet/notebook/desktop, and a multimedia laptop Dell 312-0084 with a Blu-ray player.
The 11.6-inch Booktop T1132N is a laptop Dell 312-0090 that Gigabyte says can be used as a notebook, a tablet, and even a desktop. (The docking station allows the T1132N to transform into desktop mode.) The Booktop runs a 2nd-Generation Intel Core i5 CPU and Nvidia GeForce GT520M graphics Dell 312-0191 with Optimus technology. There are also two dual-channel speakers and two woofers with THX TruStudio Pro audio technology, plus HDMI and USB 3.0 ports. In addition to allowing the T1132N become a desktop when connected to peripheral devices, Dell 312-0309 the docking station adds in a SuperMulti DVD drive. On the tablet front, there’s the Gigabyte S1081, a 10.1-inch Windows 7 slate designed for the business set. Intel’s new Atom Cedar Trail CPU runs under the hood, and the S1081 will be sold with one of two storage option: Dell 315-0084 a 500GB hard drive or an SSD for prioritizing speed. The included specs are nothing to scoff at: HDMI, VGA, USB 3.0, Bluetooth 4.0, and a 1.3-megapixel webcam are all on board. There’s an optical trackpad to supplement the capacitive touchscreen. Gigabyte designed a docking station for the S1081, and this adds a DVD drive and two stereo/two Dell 3R305 woofer speakers.
We haven’t seen too Dell 4M983 many convertible tablets in the last few months, but Gigabyte’s got a new one in the T1006M. The slate features a 10.1-inch, 1366 x 768-pixel capacitive display and, like the S1081 tablet, packs Intel Atom Cedar Trail. A USB 3.0 is on board, and Gigabyte says the Dell 4P894 T1006M is 3.5G-ready.Gigabyte also has some basic notebooks to unveil here in Las Vegas. The Gigabyte P2532F sports a 15.6-inch, 1920 x 1080p screen, four dual-channel stereo speakers, a Blu-ray drive, and a 7,200-rpm,Dell 7W999 750GB hard drive. The laptop backs up that multimedia power with a Core i7 CPU and Nvidia GeForce GT555M graphics with a full 2GB of RAM.The second notebook, the Booktop M2432, has a thinner and lighter design than the P2532F. It features an Intel Core i5 Dell 9X821 processor, a 14-inch backlit display, Intel’s integrated HD 3000 graphics, and an Nvidia GT 440 GPU. Gigabyte is touting the Booktop M2432′s desktop-like functionality, as there are six USB ports, HDMI, D-Sub, DVI, and more ports on the Dell BAT1194 system. |

The Razer Blade’s Asus 90-NQY1B1000Y most interesting feature, however, is the touchscreen that doubles as a touchpad and the 10 customizable keys above it. Razer calls this its Switchblade UI and we’ve never seen anything like it. The 10 light-up keys themselves are little tiny screens that show Asus 90-NQY1B2000Y different images on them, depending on how you customize them and on the application. In a demo today, a product manager showed us how one of the Switchblade keys could put the touchpad into numeric keypad mode, SAMSUNG P580 Battery where the touchpad screen shows number keys and the 10 keys change into controls that change the design of the numeric keypad into, for example, touchscreen arrows. Another Switchblade button launches a tiny web browser on the touch screen while a third launches YouTube. A Razer product manager said that gamers can watch YouTube walkthroughs of their SAMSUNG NP-P580 Battery games on the tiny screen so they don’t have to exit the game on the main display. The Switchblade UI also lets you customize the light-up keys to launch any game macros or applications you want. You can even create your own little icons to display on the keys. SAMSUNG NT-P580 Battery A Razer rep showed us how these settings are saved in the cloud via the company’s Synapse 2.0 software so, if you have other Razer products with the same features, those settings will transfer over. In fact, we later saw a Star Wars: The Old Republic gaming SAMSUNG P230 Battery keyboad that also has the SwitchBlade UI features.
We had a chance to Samsung NP-N310 Battery witness the Razer Blade playing Firefall on its 1080p screen and were impressed with the smooth video and sharp images. However, we lifted one of the notebooks off the table and noticed that the bottom was extremely hot as was a right side vent. Samsung NP-N310 Battery The Razer Blade should start shipping at the end of this month for $2,799. We can’t wait to test it more thoroughly. erious gamers, take note: Samsung is throwing down the gauntlet with the Series 7 Gamer. We got a first look today at CES Samsung N310-KA07 Battery at the 17-inch system, a top of the line desktop replacement that looks to blow away Alienware’s benchmark scores– and maybe even its battery life, too.The Series 7 Gamer will only be available in one configuration, but it’s likely to be the only one you’d want: a next generation Intel Core i7 Samsung N310-KA06 Battery processor, Nvidia GeForce GTX670 with 2GB of graphics memory and a 2TB hard drive. To keep the battery going a little longer, there’s a mode knob which lets you choose between a miserly, power-saving mode, a balanced power mode and gaming mode. Samsung N310-KA05 Battery When you go into gaming mode, the processor ramps up and– depending on your preferences– the touchpad and Windows key are disabled. The company Acer LC.BTP01.011 also makes a cable, called the Wormhole Switch, that enables the same thing. The docking station is a more comprehensive version, though, providing the extra ports. Either way it’s far more convenient than swapping thumb drives. Acer LC.BTP01.010 The Wormhole station sells for about $100 (depending on the retailer), the Switch for about $30-40.It starts out with the small suspicion that something is wrong.
