Stade Rennais FC took possession of third place in Ligue 1 with a 2-1 win against FC Sochaux Montbéliard, stretching their current winning run to eight matches. Both goals came from Swedish international midfielder Kim Källström.
Calvé handball The 23-year-old Källström took less than five minutes to open the scoring, beating goalkeeper Teddy Richert after being set up by Olivier Monterrubio, but Sochaux were level on 21 minutes when Souleymane Diawara headed in a free-kick from teenage forward Jérémy Menez. The game turned with 11 minutes remaining, when Sochaux defender Jean Calvé handballed on his own line and was sent off, and Källström converted the resultant spot-kick.
