Pepperdine Announces Departure of Head Men's Basketball Coach Paul Westphal

Pepperdine wagering team announced Wednesday morning the departure of head men's basketball coach Paul Westphal.

Pepperdine Athletic Director Dr. John Watson said that the university was grateful for the leadership that Westphal brought to the team during the past five seasons. "Coach Westphal is among the most outstanding people I've known or had the pleasure to work with," Watson said. "We extend him our best wishes for the future."

Dr. Watson said that a search would begin as soon as possible for the school's new head basketball coach.

Pepperdine Tickets Going Fast for NCAA Tournament

Pepperdine specific tickets for the Waves' NCAA Tournament first round match up against Oklahoma are close to selling out announced by the University ticket office Tuesday afternoon. With only about 50 of Pepperdine's allotment remaining Pepperdine fans are encouraged to place their orders before the 5 p.m. (PT) deadline on Thursday.

Pepperdine is making its fourth trip to the NCAA Tournament after claiming the West Coast Conference (WCC) tournament title, its third since 2002. The Waves are the 15 seed and will face Oklahoma at 10 a.m. (PT) at the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colo.

The $20 single-session tickets are good for admission to the Pepperdine versus Oklahoma game as well as the second game of the day between BYU and Iowa which follow the conclusion of the Waves' game. Tickets can be purchased by calling 1-866-WAVE TIX (928-3849) between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday.
