Sep. 22, 2009 - Top Basketball- II

A common debate that continues to this very day is who are the top basketball teams. Many times when you begin this discussion it usually results in a heated exchange of words as people share with you their views about who are the top basketball teams. While there is nothing wrong with this, the top basketball teams have the ability to go beyond the game and reach out the entire world. Some of the top basketball teams at accomplishing this are:

The Chicago Bulls: Led by Michael Jordan they are the greatest basketball team to ever play the game. Who can forget the many different inspirational games that the Chicago Bulls had on their way to the most NBA championships in history. The passion and excitement that they stirred for the game not only created a huge following causing them to transcend the game itself, making the Bulls one of the top basketball teams ever.

The Miami Heat: Coached by Pat Riley the Miami Heat is one of the best pressure teams to play the game overcoming injury, disappointment and illness to win the NBA championship. How often has their star player Shaquille O’ Neil led his team to come from behind wins bringing everyone’s quality of play to the next level. It is because of this that the Miami Heat was able to become bigger than the game itself, making the one of the top basketball teams.

Clearly there have been many top basketball teams over the years two of the best ones which transcended the game itself are the Chicago Bulls and the Miami Heat. If you would like to learn more about your favorite teams, the latest news or just to hear what is happening with the top basketball players visit http://sports.stanjames.com. Sep. 22, 2009 - Sportsbook- IV

A sportsbook can even be used to predict trades in the NBA and money can be won through the sportsbook if you are able to predict correctly which team a player ends up getting traded to. That is how far reaching the capabilities of a sportsbook can be. For example if you were correctly able to predict that the Charlotte Hornets would trade Alonzo Mourning to the Miami after three seasons in the 1990's you would have won some money through a sportsbook. Of course Mourning was able to have a stellar career with the Miami Heat, becoming the franchise's all time leading scorer. This is another aspect of Mourning's career that you could have placed a bet on through a sportsbook.

It was rumored that personality clashes between Mourning and forward Larry Johnson were part of the reason why Mourning decided to leave Charlotte. Of course Larry Johnson would leave Charlotte as well and later end up with the New York Knicks. This is another roster move where wagers could be placed on it through a sportsbook. A sportsbook can also be used to predict the yearly scoring averages of players like Johnson and if they lead the league in an important scoring category like field goal percentage you could win some serious cash through a sportsbook like http://sports.stanjames.com. You can also use a sportsbook to predict whether the attempted comebacks from injuries by players like Allan Houston and Jay Williams are going to be successful or not. Of course the comeback attempts of some players have indeed been successful.

Some people may view this tactic as a callous way to be using a sportsbook in order to profit from, but they need to understand that injuries are in fact an important part of the game. This is true no matter what sport you are using a sportsbook for.

How many of us are having tough times right now, I know I am. There's nothing I'd like more than to have a little extra money. What I want most is to have the little bit extra to do things I like, one of those things is spending time with family and friends. Working another job isn't the answer, I'm a family man, so what then? Wagering at the sportsbook is the answer for me. It allows me to take advantage of something I already enjoy and make some money while doing it.

The online sportsbook is one of the best things to come along in recent years. I've always been pretty good at picking the winners, but it doesn't pay to go to Las Vegas because I'm not a big time money man. That's where the online sportsbook comes into play. I can play at home, online with the sportsbook, and make the extra money I need. I can sit back in the comfort of my own home and do my thing.

Just picture the situation, you're at home on the weekend getting ready to watch the game you've been waiting for all week. You've done all your homework and you know exactly what's going to happen. Right before you kick back you make a trip to the computer, log onto http://sports.stanjames.com, my sportsbook of choice, and place your wager. I look at it more as an investment though. No different than the stock market, the online sportsbook has brought us just another way to make money. There's no better feeling than being successful. And as we all know success breeds more success. That's going to make you a happier person and you can never go wrong there. After all, isn't that what it's all about. Time to make some money!

Sep. 18, 2009 - Sportsbook- I

A sportsbook can be a lucrative business opportunity if run properly. Being able to predict something like the fact that the Georgia Tech men's basketball team would be able to reach the Final Four in 1990 under then head basketball coach Bobby Cremins could have been a very lucrative sportbooks prediction for you to make correctly. The men's NCAA basketball tournament is a very fruitful endeavor for everyone involved. This is the case whether you are talking about a sportsbook or the television networks.

Getting back to that Georgia Tech 1990 squad, they were a dynamic squad. Picking them to make it to the Final Four would have been a smart move for anyone who was using a sportsbook to make some extra money at that time. With the likes of Kenny Anderson penetrating the lane, slicing up defenses and playing some solid defense that sort of solid play is always a positive at the point guard position. Then someone using a sportsbook to select Georgia Tech to go far in the NCAA Tournament could have noted the prolific three point shooting of Dennis Scott. Scott and Kenny Anderson both spent a double digit amount of seasons in the National Basketball Association. Dennis became so dead on with his three point shooting that he earned the nickname D-3 during his time with the Orlando Magic.

Cremins had also been far in the NCAA Tournament, having reached the Elite Eight with his 1985 team. A very detailed sportsbook with plenty of facts and statistics may be able to tell you that before you place your wagers. In fact a sportsbook that is keen upon its sports history may be able to tell you that Dennis Scott was in fact the overall leading scorer for that entire tournament, not just for the Yellow Jackets, but the entire NCAA Tournament.

Sports betting blogs are not just a way to learn about how to correctly pick games when wagering on sports. Sports betting blogs can also be a good source of networking within the sports community. If you are a Red Sox fan who likes to buy sports items from the past along with betting on your beloved Red Sox, maybe you can meet another Red Sox fan through sports betting blogs who has the inside track upon one of Mo Vaughn's old bats from his days in Boston. Sports betting blogs can possibly help you get the connection within the sports world so you could work in the sports world full time.

To get back to the traditional purpose of sports betting blogs you could always wager upon who is the biggest bust as far as number one picks in the history of the NBA Draft goes. In order to settle a bet like this on a sports betting blog you can wait till some official sports authority puts out a list on the biggest draft busts in NBA history. Some sports betting blogs and their readers may make the case that the biggest bust is Kwame Brown. Other sports betting blogs may say that it is Michael Olowokandi, the debates that can be had are part of the reason why sports betting blogs are so great.

Sports betting blogs can be about gaining very basic information like simply, what is the line for that Packers-Vikings matchup this week. Sports betting blogs may give you the exact information needed to place a proper bet or sports betting blogs may give you the necessary information in order to not make the bet based on the Packers-Vikings line. Things like historical matchups and the Vikings success at Lambeau Field may be the key in order to make an accurate bet through sports betting blogs.

Sep. 9, 2009 - Sports betting blogs

Sports betting blogs can be very informative. When a team gets on a streak or truly begins to turn their entire organization around it may very well be the job of a sports betting blogs to inform their readers of such events. A good example of a time when indeed sports betting blogs could write about a turnaround was when Mike Hargrove was manager of the Cleveland Indians. The Indians had very many very lean years before Hargrove got there as many sports betting blogs should willing tell you. The likes of Albert Belle, Carlos Baerga and Omar Vizquel began to emerge as major players within the American League and any sports betting blog would be able to tell you that they were a forced to be reckoned with as an entire squad for the better part of a decade.

Sports betting blogs would also be doing their readers a service if they made a note of when managers like Mike Hargrove left Cleveland in order to become the manager of the Baltimore Orioles. If sports betting blogs do give out this kind of information it helps those placing wagers stay better informed; because of the sports betting blogs they then have a better chance of being successful.

Some readers of sports betting blogs like http://sports.stanjames.com may definitely dispute the fact that managerial changes can have a true effect on how well a team performs and how much that thus impacts the wagers that people make. Readers of sports betting blogs may cite the way people like Kenny Lofton were able to so successfully set the table for the power bats in those Indians lineups like Jim Thome for example. Readers of sports betting blogs may also cite Lofton great athleticism having been a dual athlete, playing basketball at the University of Arizona for Lute Olson. Readers of sports betting blogs would cite important facts about the roster and not necessarily moves involving the front office of a team.

Sep. 9, 2009 - Pro NFL- I

For Americans one of the most popular games is pro NFL football. Who can forget the Sunday afternoon games as the crisp autumn air brings a chill to many places. In many cases during this time of the year this brings a sense of pride and excitement as die hard fans anticipate how their team will do against some of their worst rivals. While there is nothing wrong with this, rivalries do help add to the excitement of the game for fans, players and coaches. Some of the most famous pro NFL rivalries include:

Broncos and the Raiders: The Denver Broncos and the Oakland Raiders have a rivalry that goes back to 1970’s. Since that time these two division foes bring their best out to defeat their most bitter enemy. Who can forget the many close games that these teams have had and the passion that fans from both teams have during games. It is rivalries like this which pro NFL so popular.

Cowboys and Giants: The Dallas Cowboys and the New York Giants have one of the longest pro NFL rivalries. Dating back to the 1960’s both teams have had their fair share of Monday night controversies in November and December. This is when fans are particularly passionate with emotions running high as both teams are contenders for some of the limited playoff spots in many cases making this rivalry even more heated.

Clearly pro NFL has many heated rivalries, above are just two of the many which the game truly unique. The passion from the fans, players and coaches always make these games a must win regardless of how the season is going. A place where you can follow your favorite team, learn about the different rivalries and receive up to the minute news is to visit http://sports.stanjames.com.

Sep. 9, 2009 - Top basketball

Top basketball stars no when to accelerate their game and when to defer to their teammates. A top basketball star like Jamal Mashburn was at Kentucky proved that a top basketball star should know when to take a game over and when to include solid players like John Pelphrey and Ritchie Farmer into the offense. Showing off these top basketball skills not only guaranteed Jamal Mashburn a spot in the NBA Draft, but it also helped him rise to the top basketball level in the world and be picked in the lottery of the NBA Draft. A top basketball coach like Rick Pitino who had the proper balance between the NBA and the college game was able to aide Jamal in his rise to the top basketball rankings in the game. Even though Jamal only spent five seasons with the Dallas Mavericks I don't think many prognosticators including those on http://sports.stanjames.com can argue that it was not a top basketball selection and a smart decision to take Mashburn with the fourth overall pick in the 1993 Draft.

Because of Pitino's work with the likes of Mashburn. He was then able to recruit top basketball high school blue chippers like Ron Mercer and Walter McCarty to come to Kentucky. Pitino's teams at Kentucky were often loaded with top basketball talent. Pitino had his guys get out and pressure the basketball with one of the fiercest top basketball defensive schemes out there. Mercer and McCarty would also spend some years in the NBA with some of the top basketball organizations around. Pitino even tried the NBA again himself as a coach by bringing some of his Kentucky players to Boston in an attempt to make Boston a top basketball franchise again.

Pitino's work at Kentucky also helped his successor Tubby Smith be able to land another top basketball recruiting class. Smith was able to keep Kentucky as one of the top basketball programs in the country by winning a national title on his own right during his time at the top basketball institution that is the University of Kentucky.

Sep. 3, 2009 - Sportsbook

A sportsbook adds another dimension to what can be an otherwise very exciting game or sporting event in its own right. A sportsbook can take bets on whether Lennox Lewis is going to knock out an opponent like Hasim Rahman in the third round. A sportsbook can also earn you plenty of money if you able to predict correctly that Rahman is able to pull the upset. A sportsbook can help keep a city like Las Vegas alive and well and a sportsbook like http://sports.stanjames.com can indirectly put money into the pocket of a fight promoter such as Don King or Oscar De La Hoya for example by making more people want to buy the Pay Per View. A sportsbook can indirectly employ a great number of people and a sportsbook can have a great effect on the wage scale within professional sports.

A sportsbook could have and probably did in many case take bets upon how many strikeouts Nolan Ryan would end up with following each game. They, being a sportsbook organization can also take bets on which pitcher could be next to reach the twenty strikeout plateau in a game. It would have been interesting to see how much money someone could have made through a sportbook by correctly predicting that a young man like Kerry Wood would have been able to reach that twenty strikeout plateau against the Houston Astros in a start at Wrigley Field. Wood would named Rookie of the Year in 1998, another thing a sportsbook can help you take bets on. Who exactly will be the Rookie of the Year in either the American or National League?

A sportsbook can also take bets about who you think will be the managers of the year in Major League Baseball. It can be hard to predict the winners of such awards because if a team simply does not perform well, there is very little a manager can actually do to help them succeed.

Sep. 3, 2009 - Sports betting blog

A sports betting blog would of course typically show a line that favors a potential dynasty as likely to beat a quality, but overall undermanned squad no matter what the sport. This is why nearly every sports betting blog had the Los Angeles Lakers defeating the New Jersey Nets whenever they met in the NBA Finals. With talent like Shaquille O'Neal, Kobe Bryant and Derek Fisher on the Lakers roster, the Nets squad despite having Jason Kidd and Kenyon Martin simply did not have the firepower to defeat the Lakers as a sports betting blog would likely be able to tell you.

The lights and the glamor of playing the Lakers in the NBA Finals likely was not too much for Nets coach Byron Scott to handle as a sports betting blog might note. The sports betting blog may also tell you that Scott won several NBA championships during his playing days as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers. A sports betting blog would not likely be able to give you the possible information that some players on the Nets team began to have more confidence in the coaching abilities of assistant coach Eddie Jordan as opposed to what Scott brought to the table.

This information still would not likely change the wagers of those who read a sports betting blog. The Lakers were that heavily favored with an experienced NBA Finals coach like Phil Jackson as likely noted by a sports betting blog. Jackson himself also won a ring during his playing days with the New York Knicks. A sports betting blog like http://sports.stanjames.com may be able to dig up that kind of information for its readers who may be curious about the experience factor in winning a championship. Some people who read a sports betting blog may truly believe that experience does matter in crunch time situations.

Sep. 3, 2009 - Online basketball III

Online basketball writers are just as capable as those that you see writing for traditional print publications. With nearly anyone able to write and post an opinion through online basketball sources it can be difficult to separate fact from fiction when it comes to online basketball. Even people who have written sports columns regularly for newspapers like Jay Mariotti now write for online basketball sources. Mariotti writes not only for online basketball sources, but also for the Chicago Sun Times and he appears on ESPN. ESPN itself also has online basketball media sources, but most of the slots involved in their online basketball world are already filled.

You have to wonder whether or not people like Jerry Sloan and Doug Collins would have been effected in any greater way during either their playing days in the case of Sloan or their coaching days in the case of Collins for the Chicago Bulls due to the increased pressure that online basketball writers can place upon the participants of a basketball game. Sloan does not seem like the type who would be phased by what online basketball writers would say about him, either in his playing days which are seemingly long ago or in his current job as head coach of the Utah Jazz.

Doug Collins on the other hand has spent time in the media with NBC, TNT and possibly other outlets so it is unlikely that he would let anything an online basketball magazine write get to him. This is probably the case unless we are talking about a situation of complete slander. Then Collins or Sloan may take legal action against the online basketball source. Collins is more likely to have a feud with a player that he coaches which would play out in the media through an online basketball magazine, but he is unlikely to get in a feud with the online basketball source itself.

Aug. 25, 2009 - Pro nfl

Occasionally you see a lot of very good teams come up a little short in pro nfl games where there is a lot of riding on the game. A good example of this would be the teams that Jim Marshall, Alan Page, and Fran Tarkenton were on when they were a part of the Minnesota Vikings with the purple people eaters defense of the 1970's and with a record setting quarterback and personality like Fran Tarkenton in their pro nfl games. The fact that the Vikings were never able to win a Super Bowl during this pro nfl period against the likes of Hank Stram and the Chiefs or John Madden and the Raiders was a very upsetting fact for many Vikings fans as they cheered for their favorite pro nfl teams.

The Minnesota Vikings also had some very prolific pro nfl offensive teams during the decade of the 1990's under former head coach Dennis Green. The Vikings were just a few mere minutes away from playing in the Super Bowl against the Denver Broncos in the 1998 season producing a great pro nfl matchup when steady kicker Gary Anderson blew the kick in a tragic turn of events for Mr. Anderson who had otherwise been through a stellar, long term pro nfl career.

This is the luck that some pro nfl teams have. The Vikings can have pro bowl and likely Hall of Fame eligible wide receivers like Cris Carter and Randy Moss on their roster, but the whole thing can come down to the consistency of Falcons kicker Morten Andersen and his pro nfl resume versus the pro nfl resume of then Vikings kicker Gary Anderson. The truth is kickers can decide games when such an ending can seem so unfair to the rest of the players. The fact remains that sometimes a few great pro nfl teams are meant to win game while a few great pro nfl teams are meant to lose games.

Aug. 18, 2009 - Recognizing the top basketball trends

If you're going to spend your time and money betting basketball, then you should most certainly do it right. There's nothing good about losing money on games, and people who don't understand the top basketball trends out there will be assured of this fate. So what are the top basketball trends? You know the kind. They are the ones that will hold true each and every year, no matter if you're betting on the pros or on college. For the most part, they have to do with player psychology.

Top basketball trends for the pros

When it comes to betting NBA basketball, you need to be aware of many personality conflicts that might derail an otherwise well-fated team. When a star player gets mad about his contract, or a team quits on a coach, this can cause their performance to tank. In addition to that, the NBA season is a grind and players can sometimes hit the wall after a period of time. This is especially true for young players, so you can expect a team with a bunch of contributing rookies to have trouble sustaining their performance late into spring. These top basketball trends will at least give you a fighting chance.

Top basketball trends for the college game

The college game is a little bit different, but some of the same things apply. Bettors must be willing to implement some of the same top basketball trends if they want to consistently hit bets. You need to look at how teams are playing at the time, but also some of the effects that might change their performance. If a team has traveled a long way or they have had some sort of extraneous circumstance, then it will most certainly knock their play at least a little bit. Keep these things in mind as you bet.

Aug. 18, 2009 - Online basketball

When people think of online basketball nowadays they could very well be talking about fantasy sports. You have to wonder whether some of the role players on those great Lakers teams of the 1980's like Kurt Rambis and Byron Scott would be considered as valuable today with so much of the focus being on filling up the stat sheet the way online basketball forums like fantasy sports encourage their participants to do.

The same questions could be asked about many of the role players for the Boston Celtics that challenged Pat Riley, Magic Johnson and those LA Lakers during those NBA Championship Series. Bill Walton is a Hall of Famer, but he certainly did not stuff the stat sheet late in his career with the Boston Celtics. Walton would be considered a bad selection to have in an online basketball format like fantasy sports by some of the online basketball stat wonks that fantasy sports helps create. Unlike Walton, however a guy like Dennis Johnson who could fill it up quickly along with the fact that he could get numerous steals on the defensive end of the floor would probably be considered invaluable in an online basketball forum like fantasy sports.

Some players just compute well to the online basketball style and stat driven society that so many focus on, while other role players may be considered scrubs. Just enjoy the opportunity to participate in something like online basketball fantasy sports, but don't expect to win all the time.

When filling out your roster for an online basketball situation like the one fantasy sports creates you want someone like a Dennis Rodman who had a nose for the ball and could get ten to fifteen rebounds a night. It didn't matter whether he was on the Pistons, Spurs or Bulls squad. A floor general like Isiah Thomas who could rack up the points, assists and steals on any given night would have also been a good choice for an online basketball forum like fantasy sports as he led some of those legendary Pistons teams. It probably does help to be a starter of course in order to build up your fantasy numbers and rankings in an online basketball forum like fantasy sports.

Aug. 18, 2009 - NFL poker

Many of the same sports fans who watch the pigskin get thrown around on Sundays are also more than willing to watch a Texas Hold em' poker tournament and feel like they are actually in the action as well. People who study demographics of sports fans and televisions viewers may be very likely to tell you that there is a definite nfl poker demographic out there. When someone like Doug Flutie for the Buffalo Bills or San Diego Chargers would throw a hail mary pass into the endzone it was similar to the gambling that you see when people are playing cards. So in a sense I guess you really could call it nfl poker.

Many Vegas enthusiasts would tell you that the World Series of Poker and other poker related events are becoming more and more wildly popular with every passing year. They are probably not surpassing the popularity of most competitive NFL games, but poker event planners and television networks are certainly making progress. Maybe this year CBS could broadcast the Lions and the Cowboys in some nfl poker tournament after the football games themselves are done on Thanksgiving, as means to see just how well nfl poker could do in the ratings.

I'm sure there are plenty of football stars who play poker with their teammates before a big game. This means that there are likely friendly games of nfl poker going on in the lockeroom. Hopefully the nfl poker games would not get so competitive that the football players would lose focus on what pays the bills by focusing too much upon nfl poker. Of course gambling is prohibited by the National Football League, but a little code of honor and silence within the lockeroom is likely not to let word get out that there may be some nfl poker going on in behind the scenes. Maybe nfl poker will catch on so much that pro football players will just want to retire and play nfl poker with their former teammates. nfl poker could be the next big thing, a wave of the future.

Aug. 12, 2009 - Free sports bet

Essentially there is no such thing as a free sports bet. There are games and rounds of golf for example that may seem like they are a free sports bet, but they are not totally free despite information that may seem to the contrary. For example no one could have predicted Greg Norman's epic collapse at the 1986 Masters Golf Tournament, but because of that those who did predict such an occurrence felt like they got a free sports bet because they had basically nothing to lose and everything to gain when Greg Norman did blow the lead. Norman's collapse is one of those events that has been talked about in the golf world for decades and for those who predicted that he would actually win the tournament it proved that there is no such thing as a free sports bet.

A lot of people assumed and placed bets that with "The Rocket" Roger Clemens leading the way that the Red would surely defeat the New York Mets to win the World Series in 1986. Very few could have predicted that the ball would roll through Bill Buckner's legs and the Miracle Mets would be triumph in Game 7. For those who did make that accurate prediction the odds were so heavily stacked against them that it was like making a free sports bet. That free sports bet that made some New York Mets fans some money would continue to haunt diehard Red Sox for years to come. That same free sports bet would also cause Bill Buckner's name to be linked to infamy forever seemingly in the Boston, Massachusetts area.

Of the two national championships that legendary basketball coach Dean Smith won at North Carolina you could say that one of them was definitely a fluke. No one expected the Fab Five to lose to North Carolina in the 1993 NCAA Title Game, essentially once again making it a free sports bet if you picked against the Michigan Wolverines. They certainly did not expect to lose the way they did with Chris Webber forgetting exactly how many timeouts Michigan had left. That sort of ending would have been a free sports bet that we all would have likely lost.
