Public Cloud - An Efficient Method for Cloud HostingMar. 19, 2012
All companies dream of rapid growth and don’t expect to predict a cap for their server space at the start of their hosting needs. It is also difficult to predict how many upgrades a company will need in the future.  The resources offered by cloud hosting are nearly unlimited since a server’s network is substantially expandable. With virtual machines, sites will never experience any downtime. A Public Cloud is based on the standard cloud computing model in which a service provider makes resources available to the public over the Internet.
The public cloud hosting is good because it allows you to give someone else a majority of the management duties. However, you do not get to control much of what goes on with the public cloud hosting. Anyone can use the information on a public cloud by using their Internet connection and their major credit card. For many people this would be a major issue because they would not want just anyone to access information that they have on there.
Many companies decide to use public cloud service because they are easy and inexpensive to set up.  With public cloud hosting, there is scalability to meet your company’s needs and there are no wasted resources since you only pay for what you use. Traditional web hosting refers to servers that are owned and operated by only one site.  Cloud hosting refers to individual servers which are connected to form a cloud server. To connect all these servers into a cloud, a hypervisor needs to be installed on each physical server to control the virtual machines. Some of the most common software includes VMware or Hyper-v. A Virtual Datacenter is a tool that provides a complete open-source, digital library for the management of collections of data.
Whether you decide that public cloud hosting or private cloud hosting is best for your company, you need to keep in mind that this is an emerging technology. You will need to think hard about which type you want to go with because there are good benefits to each one. Trying one cloud computing method and then going to the other one is also an option. Just be prepared for a lot of work if you decide to go with public cloud hosting.

Public Cloud Hosting, Cloud Hosting – Sharing Server Space to Increase Efficiency and Save MoneyFeb. 25, 2012
The idea of cloud hosting is not a new one, but the technology advances in recent years have made it infinitely more successful.  To understand cloud computing better, think of traditional hosting for websites.  In the past, a single company website would have dedicated servers.  When traffic to the site increased or the website size was expanded, more servers had to be purchased and installed, a process that takes time and money.  Public cloud hosting provides website hosting services to the general public where servers are shared, allowing for scalability, instantaneously possible changes, and maintenance of website hosting that saves the company time and money.

Shared server space in a cloud allows you to use the amount you need when you need it, and scale back when you no longer need that much space.  This property is called scalability, and it is a major selling point for cloud computing.  Companies that offer cloud hosting have a huge number of servers that multiple companies use to host their websites.  Since website traffic can spike because of a viral video or concept, during a peak season, or for other reasons, the scalability of public cloud hosting allows your company's website to expand instantaneously without your site visitors noticing any change in website performance.

The instant nature of controlling your cloud hosting over the internet through your personal computer means that you never lose customers or potential customers because your website is overcrowded.  Just like the electricity in your home, as you use more, more becomes available.  When you cease to use as much, your hosting is scaled back on the shared servers.  The 'public' part of public cloud hosting simply means that the cloud is accessible to the public for website hosting either for free or for a fee.

An example of free public cloud hosting is blog host websites.  Many individuals can create weblog sites that share a cloud of servers.  Not all of the blogs will have massive traffic spikes at the same time, so the cloud will be used alternately by different blog sites.  Paid cloud hosting websites offer businesses more security and higher levels of reliability for a much lower price than dedicated servers cost.  Companies can save time and money with cloud computing when compared to dedicated hosting servers.  The benefits of the cloud far outweigh the negatives.  Proven companies in hosting on cloud servers offer great security and scalability at a good price.

private cloud - Public Cloud vs Private Cloud HostingDec. 27, 2011
Before we can get into private cloud or public cloud hosting, it is important to understand just exactly what is cloud computing. This type of computing enables multiple IT capabilities to be provided to others as a form of service to various people through the Internet. If you think it sounds confusing, you would be correct – it is quite confusing. The reason it is confusing is because it is a rather new concept. Some computer experts simplify the definition of cloud computing to simply a host of business services that are based online. That sounds simple enough, but then there are the two different types of cloud computing that were mentioned at the beginning of this article.

After you better understand this type of computing, you have to decide between private cloud and public cloud hosting. There are several benefits and drawbacks to each one. With the private one, you get to have more control over the entire infrastructure and no one that you do not give permission to can access anything that is in this cloud computing model. The main drawback to the private cloud is that you have to manage the entire thing, which can be quite bothersome if you are a busy person with a lot of other things that you have to manage and take care of.

The public cloud hosting is good because it allows you to give someone else a majority of the management duties. However, with that, you also do not get to control much of what goes on with the public cloud hosting. Anyone can use the information on this type of cloud just by using their Internet connection and their major credit card. For many people this would be the deal breaker because they would not want just anyone to access information that they have on there.

Whichever type of cloud computing you are leaning toward, whether it is private cloud or public cloud hosting, you need to keep in mind that this is an emerging technology. Also, you need to think long and hard about which type you want to go with because there are good benefits to each one. Of course, there is no harm in trying one cloud computing method and then going to the other one. Just be prepared for a lot of work if you decide to go the private route.

Public Cloud - Accessing Computer Network ServicesNov. 23, 2011
Whether you are looking at computing solutions for your home data usage or for your business, there is a wide array of different services out there. One option is to hire IT professionals to take charge of your computing with personalized products, but another valid option is to think about using a storage area network or cloud computing plan. With a SAN, you will have access to block level data storage. This helps to make large amounts of information accessible to main servers. Each network has its own fleet of storage devices, so that other outsiders are not able to log in and access the information. These are traditionally used in business environments as a way to provide a common network.  There are several affordable and reliable data center services such as Colo Los Angeles for all types of new and established companies that require a stable network environment.
A popular option among businesses is Public cloud hosting, which is a way of looking at computing needs as services that you can tap into. Software, information, and resources are all provided to computers in much the same way that utilities are provided, in that you become a subscriber and pay a monthly fee for your usage of these networks. This can be used by businesses and individuals alike, and offers numerous benefits to those who don't have extensive knowledge of computer systems. You can access data and tap into your information storage without serving as an administrator or hiring a separate IT department to do this for you.
There are many different aspects of cloud computing to choose from. A public cloud is the most traditional type of cloud computing service. This gives resources to the public over the internet, provided through an off-site third-party source that then can bill for these resources. Anyone can sign up for the services, and they are available through traditional methods of logging into the server or using internet services. This allows the companies to provide any number of virtual resources to clients quickly and reliably, including email, document storage, and other services of this nature.
With all of these methods, providers can deliver applications over the internet, and they are accessed remotely from traditional web servers or mobile apps. A virtual datacenter can consolidate this information in a remote location, while in the case of business applications, they may be stored on-site. The main thing that these web services have in common is that they allow users to get their personalized applications up and running, without worrying about the more technical aspects of computing.

pre-configured Virtual Machines - An Efficient Method for Cloud HostingAug. 25, 2011
One benefit of Cloud hosting is that there are several options such as pay as you go which is perfect for growing companies. All companies dream of booming growth and shouldn’t expect to predict a cap for their server space at the start of their hosting needs. It is also difficult, if not impossible, to predict how many upgrades a company will eventually need.  The resources offered by cloud hosting are practically unlimited since a server’s network is infinitely expandable. With available virtual machines, sites should never experience any downtime. A Public Cloud is based on the standard cloud computing model in which a service provider makes resources available to the public over the Internet. Often, these public cloud services are free or offered on a pay-per-usage model.
The main benefits of using a public cloud service are that they are easy and inexpensive to set up, there is scalability to meet your company’s needs, and there are no wasted resources since you only pay for what you use. Traditional web hosting refers to servers that are owned and operated by only one site.  Cloud hosting refers to many individual servers which are connected to form a cloud server. In order to connect all these servers into a cloud, a hypervisor needs to be installed on each physical server to control the virtual machines. Some of the most common software includes VMware or Hyper-v. A Virtual Datacenter is an important tool that provides a complete open-source, digital library for the management of collections of data.
Since most sites don’t have to rely on a single dedicated server, load balancing is typically more cost effective. Instead of having to purchase physical servers in cluster, companies that rely on cloud computing don’t need more than one server.  For those that chose dedicated or physical servers, it is necessary to implement an operating system that will be able to support the cluster or load balancing that is associated with these.  Users of pre-configured VMs can use any OS that they feel is best.
One benefit of pre-configured Virtual Machines is that they are easily upgraded.  Dedicated servers are not the same way; they require shutting down the system, installing costly equipment, and rebooting. The best cloud hosting companies will also offer state of the art storage area network (SAN) solutions.  Cutting edge SANs are faster, more efficient, quieter, and require less power than they did before.  This will allow your company to operate with the reassurance that data will always be available and safely guarded.

Cloud Computing – Getting the Most Out of the CloudJul. 7, 2011

As technology continues to grow and change, it can be difficult for a person to stay on top of the latest trends and services being provided. One of the things that many people may not fully understand is the idea of cloud computing. This is often a catchall term that includes things such as online hosting. Online hosting is done when a service provides the necessary space and platform for a company or individual to build a website on. There are services that specialize in particular aspects of cloud services and there are those that offer a host of different services becoming a kind of one-stop shop.
Basically, cloud computing is when software is being used that is not actually installed on the computer that is being used. An excellent example of this type of service would include online file backup. Rather than having files stored on site, they are stored by a service and uploaded or downloaded via the Internet. Cloud hosting, or online hosting, is a different type of service offered. In order to really understand the idea of what this is, an individual should think of websites as virtual real estate.
When a service provides web hosting, what they are offering is virtual space for an individual or company to build their website. This space is not something that the website owner can actually own themselves. It is more like opening a business in a rented office building. The benefit to online hosting is that the website owner is not responsible for the maintenance of the equipment necessary and they often get much faster and more powerful servers at a much more reasonable price than if they were to purchase them themselves. This is one of the reasons that this type of hosting has become the most popular way to create a website.
As more and more individuals gain access to faster Internet connections, the idea of cloud computing is certain to only grow in the future. Choosing a web hosting company rather than purchasing the necessary servers is not only a more cost-effective way of running a website, it is also much less labor-intensive. Many experts feel that online hosting is only going to expand as off-site hosting becomes more mainstream. In order to compete in modern commerce, a company has to have a presence on the Internet and this is often the most affordable way to do that.

public cloud - 5 Things to Look for When Choosing a Web Hosting ProviderJun. 17, 2011
Nowadays, if you want to do business, you’ve got to get on the internet. Once you build an attractive and functional site, you’ll need to decide on web hosting company to make your site accessible. Web hosting companies own or lease a server, and then rent the space to you, the user. Here are a few things you should be looking for when choosing a web hosting provider:
1)      Bandwidth: Cloud hosting offers infinitely unlimited bandwidth, as it is easy to add more servers to the cloud network. Users can increase or decrease their storage space as it suits their needs, making cloud computing a flexible and ideal plan for small and growing businesses.
2)      Server Updates: With a dedicated server, the user is responsible for maintenance and updates, which generally require shutting down the whole server and disrupting the site’s performance. Upgrades and maintenance are easy with cloud hosting, and require little to no down time, making cloud computing ideal for businesses who don’t have the time to have their site down for lengthy amounts of time.
3)      Reliability: Cloud hosting servers are more reliable than dedicated servers because they are comprised of many servers. Since your data is stored on many different servers it is guaranteed that your data will be available, even if one of the servers in the cloud goes down. Since dedicated hosting services consist of only one dedicated server if there is a problem with that server, then your data is not accessible.
4)      Security: A managed virtual private network (VPN) ensures that all data sent to and from your cloud is sent through a secure tunnel. All data sent to and from your cloud infrastructure is encrypted and authenticated to the correct users.
5)      Cost: Because public cloud hosting offers pay as you go plans, small and growing companies can save a lot of money in comparison with dedicated servers. Because the cost of servers is spread across many users, it is only necessary for each user of cloud hosting to pay for the amount of bandwidth they use. With a dedicated server, it is necessary to buy much more space than they will actually use in the event that a server must go down for maintenance.
When deciding between a dedicated server and cloud computing, the main factor should be the size and growth potential of your company. Very large companies may be better off with their own dedicated servers, but small and rapidly growing companies benefit from the flexibility cloud hosting offers.

web hosting - Cloud Hosting is Cost Effective for Growing BusinessesMay. 28, 2011
How do you know which kind of web hosting is right for your business? Web hosting is basically like buying or renting real estate on the internet. In a dedicated traditional hosting, the consumer leases an entire server just for themselves. Cloud hosting is another option that is becoming increasingly popular. Cloud hosting links several servers together.
For start-up companies who need reliable server options at affordable costs, cloud hosting may be the way to go. Cloud hosting is kind of like a time share for websites. Many sites are pooling their resources and in return they get access to many servers. In order to connect all these servers into a cloud, software, called a hypervisor, is installed on each physical server to control the virtual machines. Typical software includes VMware or Hyper-v.
When traditional hosting, customers pay for the entire server regardless of how much of the resources are used. Each month the customer pays the same fixed amount. For a site that doesn’t require an excessive amount of resources, traditional hosting can get costly. Most consumers only wish to pay for what they have used, which is where cloud hosting comes in. With cloud servers, the costumer is charged for the amount of space that is used and nothing more.
Traditional web hosting provides extensive customer and technical support as well as security patches, which factors in the monthly costs and increases the price tag. For websites that don’t receive an excessive daily amount of hits, the extensive technical support may not be necessary. Even if you’re not using any service, you still have to pay the fixed charges at the end of the month.
Most consumers now prefer to just get a cloud host because you are billed for your usage. This means that you only have to pay as much as you use. Also, cloud hosting allows growing businesses to continue expansion without major disruptions. Rather than attempting to predict how much space you will need, you can use what you need now, and use more later as you need it.
Cloud computing is more efficient than a traditional server, since the latter makes use of only 60% of its capacity. A fully loaded cloud host can save a lot of time, space, electricity and money since it can replace five times of the traditional servers. If your website only gets heavy traffic at certain times, you would benefit more from cloud hosting. This will be a more cost efficient option. However, if a website experiences heavy traffic every day then the client should opt for buying or renting his own server. Traditional hosting can be more cost efficient in that case because a fixed fee could be more beneficial.

cloud server - Cloud Servers Offer Affordable Linux Web HostingMay. 17, 2011
Cloud hosting offers pay as you go options which are perfect for growing companies. All companies hope for booming growth, and should not be expected to predict a cap for their server space at the start of their hosting needs, let alone how many upgrades they will eventually need. Cloud hosting’s resources are practically unlimited because the servers network is infinitely expandable. With so many virtual machines available it isn’t necessary for sites to experience downtime.
Dedicated servers, or traditional web hosting, refers to servers owned and operated by one site only. Cloud hosting refers to many individual servers which are connected to form a cloud server. In order to connect all these servers into a cloud, software, called a hypervisor, is installed on each physical server to control the virtual machines. Typical software includes VMware or Hyper-v.
Because sites don’t have to rely on a single dedicated server, load balancing is much more cost effective. Rather than having to purchase two or more physical servers in a cluster, people who rely on cloud computing don’t need more than one server. Also, for those who chose dedicated, or physical, servers, it is necessary to implement an operating system that supports clustering or load balancing. Users of virtual machines (VMs) can use any OS they choose, as there are both linux web hosting and window web hosting. VMs are easily upgraded, whereas dedicated servers require shutting down the system, installing costly equipment, and rebooting.
The best cloud hosting companies will also offer state of the art storage area network solutions. The best SAN option uses solid state microchips to store data and contain no moving parts. Top SANs utilize synchronous & asynchronous mirroring to duplicate data in alternate drives and alternate geographic locations. Cutting edge SANs are faster, more quiet, and require less power than previous generations of SANs. This allows your company to operate with the reassurance that data is safely guarded and always available.
Traditional hosting options come with many limitations. Server space and bandwidth are generally capped. However, payment through cloud hosting companies generally offer pay as you go plans, meaning you pay for the amount of bandwidth you actually consumer. With traditional hosting companies it is necessary to reserve a large amount of bandwidth space to ensure that your site is never down, though much of it goes unused for the majority of the time.

VMware partner - Web Hosting through a Public CloudApr. 30, 2011
Cloud hosting is a great option for start-up companies. New and growing companies need reliable server options at affordable costs, but because they are still in an expansive process, it is difficult to know exactly how much bandwidth is needed. Cloud hosting refers to many individual servers which are connected to form a virtual datacenter. Traditional web hosting consists of dedicated servers, which are servers that are owned and operated by a single site or company. Cloud hosting consists of many sites pooling their resources to gain access to and unlimited supply of servers. In order to connect all these servers into a cloud, software such as VMware, called a hypervisor, is installed on each physical server to control the virtual machines. Many cloud hosting companies are a VMware partner.
There are many benefits to using virtual servers over dedicated servers. Traditionally, upgrading the server system requires shutting the whole system down and then installing expensive equipment. With so many virtual servers at their disposal, sites can easily make upgrades without having to shut down the site. Because there are both linux and windows cloud servers, virtual machine (VMs) users can use any OS they choose. When it comes to upgrades, using a public cloud is much more cost effective.
Web hosting using VMs is extremely convenient because the network of servers is infinitely expandable, and the availability of resources unlimited. What company would be able to guess exactly how many upgrades and how much space they will need in five or ten years? Traditional hosting options come with limitations on server space and bandwidth. Payment plans from IaaS, or Infrastructure as a Service, companies are usually based on the amount of bandwidth used, where traditional hosting companies generally require a site to reserve a large amount of bandwidth space to ensure that the site is never down. This type of payment plan is often wasteful because much of the space goes unused for the majority of the time.
Most cloud hosting companies offer a range of products and services to make the hosting as streamlined and easy as possible. For instance, it’s possible to get pre-configured VMs to make the set up process as painless as possible.. These pre-configured VMs come with CentOS, Apache, MySQL, and PHP. Many other options exist depending on the specific needs of your company. For example, there are database options, email hosting, and both Windows and Linux options.

VMs - Unlimited Bandwidth and Easy Upgrades with Cloud HostingApr. 12, 2011
What is the difference between dedicated servers and virtual machines? A dedicated server is owned by a company and that single server is responsible for their hosting needs. However, cloud hosting is a term for many individual servers which are connecting, forming a “cloud.” For growing businesses that require reliable servers with unlimited bandwidth space at affordable costs, cloud hosting is a popular solution. Cloud computing is such an affordable option because many users are sharing the cost of the cloud servers, and instead of just one machine, they have access to a virtually unlimited amount of servers. Cloud hosting makes it easy to add machines and storage space to the cloud. In order to connect all these servers into a cloud, software, called a hypervisor, is installed on each physical server to control the virtual machines.
Because many virtual servers are connected and a site doesn’t have to rely on a single dedicated server, it is easier to make upgrades without shutting down a site. Cloud host users enjoy the benefits of how easily VMs are upgraded compared with dedicated servers. Traditionally, upgrading the server system would require shutting the whole system down and then installing expensive equipment. When it comes to upgrades, cloud hosting is much more cost effective. Also, using a physical server means it is necessary to implement an operating system that supports clustering or load balancing. Because there are both linux and windows cloud servers, virtual machine (VMs) users can use any OS they choose.
